Palate Neighborhood Bistro has my favorite burger in Pocatello, hands down (and BEST GLUTEN FREE BUN). It's one of those places where everything on the menu just works. I also love their lemon vinaigrette salad dressing, and recently I tried the pork schnitzel pasta with capers which completely blew me away. The atmosphere is fire and super vibey. It can feel intimate and perfect for a date night, but it's also fun and casual enough for a relaxed dinner out. The desserts are incredible too, and the service is always amazing and genuinely friendly. One of my favorite spots in town and always worth a visit. read more

Walked right in on a Saturday evening and were promptly seated! Started with an appetizer of loaded brisket fries. Fries were very crispy and maintained their crisp even under the bbq sauce brisket. Brisket was well smoked. Followed up with a burger with bacon jam and pickle relish on it which was equally delicious. I think our only complaint was with the beignets for dessert. The dough was dense and not the usual light and fluffy. But it wasn't a French restaurant so I won't dock them too much. Would be back when in the area again! read more

If you're passing through this town and need a place to dine. DO NOT bother trying to dine at this local spot. Locals will be sat down first and skip you off the list. We waited for 30 mins on what should've been a 15 mins way. The young useless hosts said she called out name but never bother to check the bench right outside the door to see if we were there. After 15 mins we went back inside to wait by the bathrooms and she saw us but continued to ignore our presence. When she called three groups who arrived before us, the 3rd group (gentleman) said "wait, you were here before us". I said, I know. The food was amazing. It's delicious and flavorful. We got the brisket chili fries and they were good, the brisket on top was a good amount. They did not hold back on the brisket. The chili bowl was good too. I had the salmon main meal and the Brussel sprouts were good and burn with a crisp just how I like it. The calamari was also good, different from how i had before, it was a flavor Cajun calamari and it was good. The service was great. The ladies are so nice and accommodating. Love that! Serendipity at play! Saw the reviews and things looked tempting, then we just happened to drive by on a Sunday morning in our way to another local breakfast spot and did a u-turn to try something new. We stepped in around 10:15am and things were brisk, we sat at the bar for ease and within 15 minutes a 4-top, a 12-top and multiple couples sat. We beat the rush on food ordering so that was a win. A tad slow to get us started with coffee as they were running to keep up with the other ten tables already seated. We got coffee and scoped out the menu. We were treated to a locals top three from one of the staff which was a win also when it came to what we ordered. The brisket hash was really flavorful and a bit sweet. We shared a side salad to get some greens and I had the hangover which is a bowl breakfast goodies covered in a rosemary breakfast gravy. I'd say it was all perfect for the price. Took about 20 minutes to come out of the kitchen but the salad was fast. They kept our coffee hot and were appropriately attentive. As for parking, no issues. Plenty of street parking and maybe a dozen spots in a very small lot. I thought the space was cozy, seated a variety of group sizes and has a great patio space outside for warmer weather. I stopped here for Breakfast today. This is my second time and both times have been exceptional!! Hailey was my waitress. She was attentive, helpful and cheerful with her service. Friendly service and good food. We had the kale salad and the Cajun pasta. The pasta was really good. The salad was pretty good but could have been improved by removing the ribs from the kale and using fresh, rather than boxed croutons. The ambiance is really great. This is the nicest restaurant we have found in Pocatello thus far. We travel through town at least twice each year on our way to Montana. It is really hard to find good food here. Service and ambiance during lunch time was good! All items we ordered were excellent except for the salad with arugula. One would expect that salads will have more greens than anything else. However, there was less arugula on the order and more prosciuttos that were almost burnt and tasted like bacon. Also the long stems for the arugula should be cut down before serving. Cute little place and with the weather being so nice the outside patio is a win! I nabbed the brisket breakfast burrito and it wasn't too shabby. We were so happy to find such a great place on our way back to Utah! Great service and warm ambience. We tried the Greek salad with chicken which hit the spot! The dressing on it was delicious and I was happily surprised with the fried pita bread to dip in hummus. They didn't skimp on the Kalamata olives either which was nice. We also tried the hot chicken sandwich and WOW was it tasty! We upgraded to the truffle fries which were cooked to perfection - nice and crispy with great flavor. We didn't like didn't them in the red pepper aioli sauce cause then you couldn't taste the truffle. They were good on their own with no sauce (which is a rare thing IMO). First, my cocktail came in a funky glass that was off center. Took a photo but really didn't show the quirkiness. Ordered a Greek salad with Chicken. Impressed that they didn't use the "standard" green salad mix w/mostly iceberg. This had micro greens and no iceberg! The chicken was seasoned just right w/dressing in the side which I did not request. Love that it was not drenched in it! Plenty of feta w/out me asking for extra! My husband who is a chef, ordered the BBQ brisket sandwich. It looked a little burnt and dry. He said it didn't have any flavor. Did we mention we lived in NC for 30 years so we know BBQ! I believe grade inflation is in play...a solid 3.5 stars for me, but the menu is different than the ordinary and the ingredients are quality so I can understand the slide to the right. Burgers are good, but you can't request a temperature on the cook...they say it's a smash burger. A fail. The burgers are well done and certainly not what would ordinarily be considered a "smash" burger. Flavor profiles are good, the meat is seasoned, and the bun wasn't soggy. We had one with shrimp...they were very small and got lost so not worth the cost. Tri tip was flavorful but also cooked to well done. For a meat lover, that's sacrilege. She didn't love it, but she's also weird That's fine as it left more for me! It was served on greens with plenty of sautéed garlic and bell pepper. Thinking back, I should have asked for some lemon. However...there was a waitress that was OPENLY nasty to another waitress while we were enjoying our lunch that was uncomfortable. When we asked about beer on tap, the server just pointed inside and told us to read the labels and then stood silently while we struggled to make them out. So weird. She brought out the appetizer late--with the mains--and it was cold when she brought it out. She brought my mom the wrong meal and then left it on the bill even though it was a huge upcharge. I liked them a lot. The style and ambiance almost made me think of Europe. Now there was also another thing that made me think of Europe: parking spaces or lack thereof. I once said jokingly that the World War III will start in France over parking spaces, but with all the vehicles and the lack of space...There was a duder in Poky referred to as "creepy Roger" who greeted anyone approaching his property on anything motorized with a set of f words( not fun, not family...you got it). He was afraid you'd block his driveway. We had to park around the block. And it was just 2 of us, imagine if there were 5 or 6 and each came in a separate vehicle. Now there are 2 versions of the origin of the word bistro: 1920s: French; perhaps related to bistouille, a northern colloquial term meaning 'bad alcohol', perhaps from Russian bystro 'rapidly'. Not sure about alcohol as we drank water which tasted awful, they should probably filter it. Service was definitely slow which was fine we were not in a hurry and after we got our food it was very good. Gyro almost tasted Greek. The verdict: it is a good place if you reside a walking distance from it are not in a hurry and do not drink local tap water. read more

My son and I were visiting for a concert... we are both big foodies... love trying new things... went through numerous reviews and settled on Palate Neighborhood Bistro because the menu intrigued us.... We got there and were seated pretty quickly... it went quickly downhill from there... we sat there for 17 minutes with nobody acknowledging us... watched 3 tables seated well after us get drinks and place their orders... we had waitresses pass by us numerous times look at us and do nothing... then Tristan who seated us noticed we had never even gotten water... he immediately came over, profusely apologized for the lack of service took out order and offered us an appetizer on him for the inconvenience, which we declined then said at least let me give you some beignets for dessert... immediately took our order and pushed it through quick.y... he was the absolute highlight of our visit... we ordered the triple s and the double pig... both were quite tasty... only complaint was not enough chimmichurri on the triple s... great flavors and unusual combinations... but seriously the absolute highlight was Tristan... they needed more servers like him... he turned a bad experience into a great one... thank you Tristan!
