Halfway through the huevos rancheros and the lightest pancake too!
    Shirley I.

We had a delicious lunch breakfast at almost closing time on a Saturday. We both loved our choices. Huevos Rancheros and Stuffed Sopapilla. Mr also raved about the light fluffy pancake he ordered. The waitress brought us everything we wanted and needed. The salsa was excellent. The restaurant had a diner feel to it. Clean, with nice tables. We recommend this restaurant. And we always have fun in Cuba, NM.

The worst Carne Adovada with red chile photo you've ever seen.

3.5 stars. I don't want to ding this clearly beloved café for not living up to my personal chile snobbery, the food was good. We needed an alternative local option to El Bruno's, because our mutt was traveling with us. I'm glad we discovered the place. Both employees, whom I assume were partners/owners, were friendly and efficient, they delivered the goods to our car (thanks Delta Sigma Theta, er, whatever we're calling you these days) and, yes, we dined a la Prius. Anticipate the worst food porn photo I've attempted in, well, at least the last 30 days. Del Prado serves up classic New Mexican café chile, more of a sauce, both the red and green. I way prefer more of a raw product. Portions are hefty, the salsa's delightful and the sopapillas wrap everything up in a greasy, lip-smacking comfort blanket. The price is right, support a mom 'n pop shop, and if you turn into that McDon't drive-thru instead, a pox on you, sir.

Best pancakes I've had in awhile.

Great food, reasonably priced, and the staff is wonderful. Worth the stop!! Hubby had the patty melt and was thrilled with the perfectly carmelized onions. Hard to find nice dinners. Update: Had breakfast here to before getting on the road, we were not disappointed. Fantastic food!!!!

The best green chile chicken sandmy ever!

I have no idea if their other food is good, but you have to stop in and try the green chile chicken sandwich on a tortilla. The sauce is a combo of green chile and gravy and it is soo good. The chicken is tender as well. Their hot sauce is pretty damn hot so watch out

Excellent food and service. A nice oasis in an otherwise food desert. Place was clean and felt healthy yet flavorful.

Good, friendly service. We stopped for dinner on a Friday evening. There was nice, mellow live music. Dinner was delicious.

Food was disappointing after all the great reviews. Had chicken quesadilla, one section had no chicken and seemed like canned chicken.

The enchiladas consisted of small hard bits of meat scattered through a soupy mix of shredded cheese and watery red sauce. I understand that this restaurant has a storied past, and was previously a favorite stop for many former governors. But I fear those days are long past.

There's only a small kitchen We got to mean Domenic, our cook A sweetheart and a skilled chef. The food itself seems straightforward and pretty simple, but each dish had its own flavor which I think is pretty hard to do and each was so satisfyingly delicious. I think I would've bn satisfied with just the menudo and the half order of nachos, but didn't know it at the time we ordered so we went on and got the El Faro burger, my friend ordered the cheese enchiladas and of course we got the chile Christmas on the side. Fantastic! And a tremendous value. We were quite shocked that our entire meal, including 2 sodas came to less that $40, such that we left double that bc these small businesses are such treasures and we want such places to remain in business. Seemed there were quite a few locals but also lots of travelers coming through. I certainly plan to be back soon!

Really spicy. The green Sause looked like mostly diced hatch green chilis with seeds left in. It had a good flavor. The red Sause was heavy (I think) New Mexico chilies. It had a bright red color, actually stained my fingers, and a woodsy taste. I got a comb plate. It has a chili relleno, tamale, taco, and enchilada with rice and beans. And it was good. It was a lot of food. (See pics) I'm from Oklahoma and the Mexican food there is alot different. But I enjoyed my meal. I would have licked the plate clean if it wasn't so spicy. 4/5

Finally we figured it had been put on the wrong side of the Main Street so we went the other way and ended up hungry and ready for a drink and dinner. The only negative is that I couldn't get a margarita other than the wine margaritas they have. Since there is a sweet and sour mix in them I went for a white wine instead and it was perfect for the day. We ordered our drinks and chips and guacamole to get started while we looked at the menu. Our server was super and we sat on the patio in the shade which was lovely. There was plenty of shade for the hot day. To stave off our hunger while we looked at the menu we ordered the chips and salsa with guacamole. The salsa was fabulous as was the rest but I had to comment on the salsa because so often these days it's just too tomato-y or bland. This was flavorful and had a bit of spice. Luckily we arrived before the place got completely packed. I ordered the chicken blue corn enchiladas with green chile and an over medium egg on top. This came with posole and beans on the side. All this for $16. The enchiladas were stacked and they were packed with chicken. A very nice bite to the chile and egg yolk completed the flavors. Posole and beans were hot and well seasoned. A filling and flavorful lunch. Well worth the stop. Just a note: they aren't opened on Sundays. Monday through Saturdays, lunch is served from 10:30 until 3 PM and supper from 5 to 9 PM.
