Friday. August 14, 2026. Lunch. I've wanted to eat here for a long time. Ever since I saw the day of the dead inspired logo. It's on the north end of Taos. They have a very nice outside patio with umbrellas and also an indoor dining area. The bathroom is inside the kitchen, so you will see them cooking if you have to go. Luckily we arrived before the place got completely packed. I ordered the chicken blue corn enchiladas with green chile and an over medium egg on top. This came with posole and beans on the side. All this for $16. The enchiladas were stacked and they were packed with chicken. A very nice bite to the chile and egg yolk completed the flavors. Posole and beans were hot and well seasoned. A filling and flavorful lunch. Well worth the stop. Just a note: they aren't opened on Sundays. Monday through Saturdays, lunch is served from 10:30 until 3 PM and supper from 5 to 9 PM. A Texan waiting for the bathroom told me he always orders exactly what I ordered. I would highly recommend it. read more

The chile rellenos had great flavor with just the right amount of spice, and the chicken tacos were fresh, flavorful, and generously filled. Great outdoor seating with tons of shade. (But parking will be your Achilles heal) Salsa, quac and chips - tasty. Salsa is made with habaneros, so it may not taste like fire at first, but that slow burn will sneak up on you! Hubs order chicken taco salad, I've got steak and rellanos coming. Can't complain about receiving tasty food with prompt service at reasonable prices. We started with chips with salsa and guacamole. The chips were crispy with just the right amount of salt. The salsa was medium to hot spice wise and tasty. The guacamole was fresh and excellent. The entrees were seasoned well and the ingredients were cooked just right. Unfortunately our bottle of red wine was disappointing. We should have order beer. Service exceptionally fast! Overall, a 4-5 star experience rounded up. read more

We had the Los colores (three blue corn enchiladas, each with a different filling and sauce). We really liked the dish, each enchilada had a distinct flavor. We also had the chile rellenos (red and green) and enjoyed them, but we preferred the enchiladas. We waited about 15 minutes at 6 pm on a Saturday. Service was attentive and fast. Combination plate was a soup bowl. Drowned in sauce, everything tasted the same, not very good. They charge for chips and salsa. Also, FYI, they will only split a check evenly amongst 2 cards, so prepare accordingly if with a group. Overall, ok, nothing stood out in a good way. read more

Very very yummy food. We went on a recommendation from a local vendor, and we are so glad we asked! The chili is delicious, the pozole is too yummy. My fav was how they fried the chili rellano, fantastic! The blue corn tortillas they use in their cooking are super flavorful. Had a margarita and it was also tasty. Visited again, and didn't sit by the kitchen this time. Much better experience. There's pretty much always a wait, but it's never as long as they tell you. So make sure your by the fire pit so you don't miss being called (like we sadly did, our fault). There's a heated and cooled waiting room if the weather is bad and you can order cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages outside while you wait. I absolutely love this place, service is great and the food is fantastic. Do *not* miss the avocado pie. It's off menu so you have to ask if they have it. It reminds me of a very creamy icebox pie, not too sweet. The red sauce is my favorite, doesn't matter what you order as long as the red sauce is smothering it. The meat is all really good, no fat chunks, lots of flavor. read more

We had lunch today at Orlando's and at 10:00 pm we're still talking about the meal. I've missed New Mexican cuisine and now I remember why. Stacked blue corn enchiladas with beans and posole (Thank you for not even offering the proverbial rice side!), glass of Sangria and chips, salsa and queso. I had the green sauce on the enchiladas and asked for a side of red, and may have been the best red sauce I can remember. My buddy recommended Orlando's and I'll thank him with a really nice bottle of wine when I see him next. Service was great, attentive and friendly. After reading about this place, I was excited to get here. The outside is a little rustic, but that adds to its charm. There was a line formed at 5 PM when it opened. We were seated fairly quickly and ordered the house made Tri-colored chips and the house salsa. Both delicious. For entrees we got the Blue corn enchiladas and Los Colores. They were delicious. There's no denying that Orlando's is a popular go-to for both locals and tourists. There was a long line waiting to be seated as the restaurant opened for the evening, and the host did a nice job of maintaining a smooth flow. Service was good, out on the packed patio, and it's an inviting place to relax. The food is a bit average -- no exceptional dishes, the night we dined there -- and it doesn't do justice to northern New Mexico's distinct flavor profiles, despite its claim of having recipes passed down through generations. I have been going here for 20+ years and it never disappoints! I love that they serve posole in place of rice. The food is so flavorful and the staff is always friendly. My only (and mean my only) negative comment is that they don't have sopapillas. There's nothing like finishing off a True New Mexican meal like having warm sopapillas and delicious real honey. ok, so we were just driving by and noticed how busy they were so thought 'it must be good'. Well, it wasn't! I looked at review and people had raved about the blue corn enchiladas so I got those. Mine had hardly any chicken at all. The rest of the plate was covered in beans and posolo? Both of which I didn't like at all! I noticed lots of people not eating those sides. Maybe rice would be better? It was NOT cheap nor were the portions 'generous'. I'm not sure who it writing these other review. Parking is terrible, too small a lot and it's all gravel. I have eaten at Orlando's several times. It is currently my baseline for a sit down New Mexican restaurant in Taos. The chicken burrito smothered with red chili is spicy but tasty. The chips and guac are good if a bit small. The fish tacos are hearty. My favorite detail is that they serve pozole as a side to many dishes. I was looking for some vegan options in town and saw some reviews mentioning some things here could be modified to be vegan. I got the vegetarian burrito without dairy and both the red and green chiles, and my husband did a build your own bowl. Both were delicious! Tasty and authentic. We arrived around 1930 Friday and were told a 40 minute wait for our 3 top. We waited inside a little heated shed-tyoe room for only 15 minutes. Off to a good start. We learned about the three different chili's for sauce on our meals. I have the combo, enchilada, taco and tamale with pozole. This was hands down the tastiest pozole I've had. Wow, what a treasure. Orlando's was recommended by the owner of the inn where we stayed, and he was spot on. Orlando's was incredible. We stopped in for lunch after exploring Taos, and it was exactly what we were craving. We were seated outside on the patio, and the service was done with a smile, great recommendations and friendliness. Mr. B ordered the special enchiladas, Calabicitas enchiladas, which is sauteed zucchini, onion and cilantro, with a green sauce. I ordered the Blue Corn Cheese Enchiladas with Christmas sauce (Red and Green). The enchiladas were traditional Southwestern style and were served with posole (hominy) and beans. Mr. B enjoyed a local Santa Fe brew, Happy Camper IPA and I had a lovely chilled glass of Pinot Grigio. The food was truly incredible. They have their own parking lot, so parking is easy. There is inside dining, and the outdoor patio. If the weather is lovely, take a seat on the patio, it is really nice. I wish I had an Orlando's near me, I would be a regular. read more

In mid September, I traveled with my wife and son to northern NM to celebrate my 70th birthday. On my birthday we arrived in Taos. My son began to search on line a great New Mexican restaurant to celebrate. We live in Southern NM so we have a great palate for our state cuisine. We decided to go to Orlando's that closes between lunch and dinner. We arrived before 5 pm when they reopened for the dinner service. A crowd was already gathering outside waiting to enter. The place has a lot of NM charm and character that we love. After seating, we were promptly served the fresh tricolor tortilla chips with a delicious salsa. My son loves queso dip so he ordered some to enjoy with the chips. My wife ordered a burrito, my son grilled chicken fajitas and I ordered their blue corn shrimp enchiladas. The sides with the meals are beans and vegan pozole (homily). The restaurant is small and no alcoholic beverages except sangria is served. One of the things that surprised us about the menu is that they don't serve rice, which is odd for a NM eatery. It could be that the kitchen is so tiny that the menu is somehow limited. Once we entered at 5 when they opened within 30 minutes all tables were full except inside because the hostess told us that they only had two servers. At one point, my son informed the server that it was my birthday. The servers team brought me a delicious cake with some ice cream with a candle and sang Happy Birthday to me. The whole birthday celebration was memorable in a beautiful NM family run restaurant. read more

Oh my GOSH! I have eaten a lot of New Mexican food in my lifetime, but this might have been one of the best examples of true, delicious, incredible New Mexican food we've ever eaten. The green and red were both savory and divine on their own, but that chile caribe was memorable. Rich, dark, and that desirable level of bitter you want from truly good red chile. And don't get me started on the blue corn everything. I'm drooling. The shredded beef is flavorful and tender, and the chicken is even more so (surprising, I know). I've never had posole served on the plate, but even without the pork it was hands down the tastiest posole my mouth has ever delighted in. Our service was top notch with our drinks never running low, and our server was so friendly and sweet with spot-on recommendations. If you're ever in the Taos area, Orlando's is absolutely worth the stop in! Be aware they close from 3-5 to switch from lunch to dinner. What a fun place with delicious New Mexican food! We got there after a day of skiing at 4:40 and were the third group in line. My recommendation would be to get there early as the wait time can get long. And understandably as it is totally worth it. Get the smothered burrito or the blue corn enchiladas. Finally get to door and asked how many (I wish I just said 3) I said 3 but maybe 4 because my son-in-law is a Taos Police Officer and he might pop in quickly on his break. The woman said We can't seat you until he's here... I said I'm not sure he's coming - we will order right away. She said you'll have to go back to the end of the line...
