Having moved to Lumberton from Chicago, after our long 15 hour drive this was our first meal entering Lumberton. We visited this place numerous times in our 3 year stay in Lumberton. Authentic Mexican Restaurant with an abundance of shrimp and some other seafood options, as well as other traditional Mexican foods. The margaritas were great! I had the shrimp quesadilla and it was delicious. My Mom had the regular size shrimp cocktail and she loved it. It was very sizable even though it wasn't the jumbo. Been quite satisfied through the years with Del Sol. The fajitas, burritos, and nachos are always fixed well. Never salty or bland. The service is quick. Plenty of places to sit and a bar in the back. Sports games, telenovalas, and music play for your amusement. Pablo the owner is always warm and willing to make your experience good. It's a very good meal at a very cheap price. I picked a combination plate with a taco, a burrito and an enchilada. The biggest problem I had with this is that it didn't include beans, rice and lettuce on top which would've put it over-the-top. The meet was pretty tasty though, I want the beef, and the sauces were excellent. This salsa is properly spicy for the chips, which weren't bad. The only issue that I had is that she kept bringing the sweet tea, instead of unsweetened, which if you are not a sweet tea drinker is a big deal! Del Sol is your standard Mexican eatery in the US. They have all the items you would expect-- tacos, enchiladas, burritos, fajitas. They also have a nice list of lunch combo platters at very reasonable prices. I ate the Lunch Combo #13 which is 1 beef enchilada, 1 chicken enchilada, and 1 cheese enchilada with beans or rice. It was as expected, nothing outstanding about the dish but was sufficiently tasty. read more

Good Mexican food on the way to Oak Island! The huevos con chorizo was tasty and I needed to add some salsa to make it a little more moist. They came with tortillas and you have a choice between flour and corn. The waiter was helpful and the prices were reasonable. We ate on a weekday and had no wait. Dirty - disrepair - horrible service. The bathroom towel holder was falling off the wall. The bathroom stinks of urine. The tables were dirty and Formica material was peeling off. The light fixtures covers are broken. This is just a place that the owners or managers don't have any pride in and don't care. Horrible service started when we were seated and the lady couldn't understand the language of the country she was working. After 15 minutes of no water or screw driver that was ordered. After I ask where the drink was they didn't understand what I was asking about. It continued downhill from there. Food was so-so. Nothing you couldn't get at Taco Bell. I would discourage everyone from this place. Maybe they will close and new owners will actually care about having a business that is interested in providing a clean and customer friendly atmosphere. read more

We stopped by Del sol for lunch while we were traveling. My husband and I had lunch menu #14 and #16. The food was good and so was the price. They offered the usual chips and salsa. The salsa tasted good. The restaurant was more spacious than I expected. read more

If you look through my reviews you'll see most are 4-5 stars. I'm really easy to please, but I had an awful experience here. Short version: came in at lunch time on a slow day, had atrocious service, never got our food, none of the staff seemed to notice or care. Long version: I came in with a friend on his lunch break today and we decided to grab Mexican food because it's quick. Our waitress was a little rude, which I could look past on its own. However I'm sure she forgot to put our order in at all. (How? I don't know. We were one of 4 tables in the entire restaurant.) She came by 3 times in the time we were waiting. The first time she asked if everything was okay. Yes, this invisible food is delicious. The second time she asked if I wanted my empty water glass refilled. Um, yeah? I haven't even eaten yet. The last time she asked if she left her pen at our table. No, but you left our ticket in your apron. She seemed not to notice that we hadn't gotten our food. She really acted as though we had already been served. After 30 minutes we found two other waitresses coming out of the kitchen and made it very clear that we needed to leave. The older lady insisted it was ready and we said okay, but we really need to take it to go. Another 5 minutes and she comes out with plates and the order is wrong (ordered chicken enchiladas and received beef) and missing a taco. So she goes back to grab boxes and brings an extra taco with her. Wow, an extra taco in exchange for making someone late for work and making a pregnant lady wait over 30 minutes for food. So considerate. My friend ended up being 10 minutes late back to work. I ate half of one of the tacos, which was cold. Seriously. They gave me an extra taco to try and make me happy and it was cold. I had a 3 hour drive to make so I couldn't even eat the rest. read more

Del sol is my default dinner spot when in Lumberton, NC. The prices are reasonable and the food is fantastic. Their ambience leaves much to be desired, but I easily overlook that when presented with a quality Mexican meal. Ask for their arroz con pollo with chopped jalapenos and queso on top! Great family restaurant. The food is authentic Mexican and could compete with the food available in Southern California. We ate the carnitas, tostadas, tacos, quesadillas and from the kids menu the fried shrimp and French fries. Everything was delicious. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Family of 5 for a late dinner on Sat. Took 3 times to get all our food at the table. The shrimp in my camarones Mexicana dish were the size of dimes.
