Power salad!
Lava Y.

Lovely bright cafe near the Spanish arch. The menu has many tasty options from healthy salads and wraps to cooked dishes like fish cakes and breakfast options. You can also add toppings of chicken, ham or crispy tofu for an extra 1.50 euro. The coffee is great too and you have the option of soya milk. The cafe itself is very airy, bright and spacious and provides outdoor seating overlooking the river Corrib, so it's a great place to go to on a sunny day. However, the only reason I gave it 3 stars and not 5 was the service. The staff are extremely inattentive and slow, and it took ages to just get their attention. The food takes really long to come, about 20 mins for just salad. They also never seem to check on customers if everything is ok.

Really want to give 5 stars but the service let it down a little. The staff are inattentive and seem totally disinterested in their job. Perhaps I caught them on an off day! The food is fab great choice of healthy dishes something different can be found here. The decor is lovely with seating outside available too.

Since I don't live in Galway city, I spend a lot of my time there wandering around looking for somewhere to sit and do some work, grab some food and just kill the time! This is the perfect spot for all of that. They also do a great breakfast, which is the golden egg for me. I'm borderline obsessed with French Toast at this stage. It's a good batch here too, though I might complain that I'd prefer my maple syrup on the side, whereas here its already poured over. That said, I've been here maybe three times now, and I haven't asked them to change it...so it's obviously not that bad! The place is bright and airy and right by the river, so quiet but with a nice bustle. As far as I know it gets pretty busy at brunch, though we had no problem getting a table the one Sunday we made it. The service is great, the food is delicious and there's a lot of creativity in the decor. It's cute without being hipster in the slightest and the crowd reflects that. Great chai latte too, probably the best I've had! YUM

Great for brunch or just tea and cake. Progressive, interesting menu in a clean, comfortable open space right next to the museum.

We're just about there when the manager comes up behind us and said he found a table. Pretty impressive service. The table was in a medium sized room away from the music which was great as you could hold a conversation. Our server came over quickly to take our drink orders and once we had the drinks be places our order, cottage pie and fish and chips. The cottage pie was served in a small, but not too small oval baking dish with a nicely browned top on the potatoes. It also came with a side of gravy which was a nice touch. Digging in there was a good amount of pulled well seasoned brisket with carrots mixed. Very tasty dish. The fish and chips arrived with a good portion chips and a moderately sized piece of well fried fish. The fish was very fresh and flaky and the breading was very light so it didn't over power the fish. We had a pleasant meal with two great servers, a manager that wouldn't give up on finding us a table and great music (acoustic guitar) to keep us enter. Definitely a great place for drinks and a good meal and one that we will gone back to.

The inside is beautiful - like a converted greenhouse/cottage with stone walls and lots of natural light. One of the first things I noticed was the pastry counter. It was absolutely stunning with gorgeous cakes and other sweet treats available by the slice. The menu is written on a large chalkboard at the far end of the cafe, which can be hard to read depending on where you're seated. I asked for the staff's recommendation and she said I should try the fried fish. It came served with slaw, salad, brown soda bread, beautiful yellow butter and the most perfect fried pieces of cod I think I've ever had. This was not your typical "fish and chips" style fish but instead, was seasoned to perfection with a bit of a crunchier, thicker batter. Wow, it was incredible. I was also so grateful for the side of slaw and salad as I think that was the first leafy green I had had in over a week since arriving in Ireland. The latte I ordered was also delicious and well made. Staff was friendly and helpful throughout my visit - all working together to efficiently service the lunch rush. I would totally come back here next time I'm in Galway. It is highly recommended for good reason so go see for yourself!
