    Monkey bars and slide

After a long car ride my kids were ready to get out and play. We found Delaney Park through a Yelp search and decide that was our park of choice. Delaney Park has been in existence for a long time. You wouldn't know it by looking at it. The equipment, the fields, the lawn, the trees were all in great shape. Delaney Park has a couple baseball fields (which were being used for kickball at the time of our visit), tennis courts, a large grassy area (which was being used to teach girls lacrosse during our visit), trees for climbing, and, the highlight of it all, a playground. The playground was loaded with climbing apparatus, swings, rocking items and monkey bars. Kids of all ages were playing together. My elementary school student and preschooler were both at home here in Delaney Park. They had equipment designed for all age groups. We definitely were pleased with our visit to Delaney Park. If you are in the area, give it a try.

Playground located in the center of a nice family neighborhood, usually busy and filled with kids. Great for a birthday party, nice shade created by trees and gated all around. No parking lot only parallel park around the playground.

A great park near some awesome lakes and fun activities. My wife and I take our dog for a walk around Delaney Park almost every day. Located in between Sodo and Downtown Orlando, Delaney Park is a beautiful area that is close to everything while staying relatively secluded. The park itself contains many great park amenities (softball fields, tennis courts, etc.). The lakes around Delaney Park (Lake Cherokee and Lake Davis) have great walking areas and lots of fun birds walking around (seeing a goose and duck interact often produces cute and funny results). 903 Mills is also a hop, skip, and jump away from Lake Davis, so it is very easy to grab a bite on your walk around the lakes. While there isn't a designated parking area, there is plenty of public street parking around the park. All of the people walking and living around the area have been very friendly, so you don't have to worry about getting judged for taking anyone's parking spot. In addition to the park, there are often weekly events taking place in each of the green space areas, such as a dog training class each week and a group of people engaged in intense workouts each evening. These small events helps add to the close community feeling in the area. Overall, Delaney Park's combination of a nice atmosphere and close proximity to downtown makes this one of the best parks, as well as one of the best living areas, in Orlando.

Originally called Duckworth Park, this medium sized Orlando park is considered one of our oldest and as such, has been well preserved. In 1959 the city decided to change its name and it has since been known as Delaney Park. And although the name represented an actual area, it also defines the surrounding neighborhood. Approximately 7.25 acres, the park plays home to baseball diamonds, tennis courts, bathrooms, benches, a lovely statue and a glorious playground. The playground is fenced in and nicer than others around town. It's colorful and great for younger children. While I was there a young girl and her Dad were having a grand old time. If you bring your dog though he isn't allowed in the fenced area--kids and parents only. Next door you'll find the extensive grassy area that is Al Coith Park so if your pooch needs tons of running room, you can just cross the street. My favorite aspect of this park is the moss trees that are spread throughout. They add such a wonderful dynamic and make it feel very calm and peaceful. I'm sure when the little leaguers are playing it seems a bit more exciting and energetic. But when there are no games occurring, it's a great place to gather your thoughts.

    Nice trees.

I liked the feeling of this park. It has a nice old city feel to it, with beautiful old trees and surrounded by big old gorgeous houses. It's spacious, enclosed with gates, and is very safe/friendly for younger toddlers, it might be a little boring for older kids. The only thing I got a little trouble with was finding it on the map/navigation system (but I guess that's the map's fault). You have to circle it around to park because it's kinda hidden behind the courts, I parked by the fountain which was turned off; I wish it was working though.

Stop by during the game for great snacks, drinks, and specials from the Delaney Park Little League.

The neighborhood and the park is named after one of the earliest property owner's daughter's favorite novel, Lorna Doone, written by English author, Richard Doddridge Blackmore, published in 1869. Lake Lorna Doone was the site of the South's first integrated Little League Baseball game on August 9, 1955. The 1955 little league season was the first after US Supreme Court rulings had eliminated "separate but equal" conditions in the nation's schools and public parks. The Pensacola Jaycees were declared winners of their local district by Little League headquarters in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. When local officials would not allow them to play against the all-white teams they instead advanced to the Florida State Tournament which was held at Lake Lorna Doone Park. They ended up losing to host Orlando in the second round, 5-0 but they were welcomed by the hometown crowd and given encouragement. In 2021, 12 acre Lake Lorna Doone Park underwent an $8 million renovation. Added to the park was the nine hole Arnold Palmer Putting Experience, fitness stations, a playground, football fields, basketball courts, a splash pad and the Winnie Palmer Nature Trail. I especially liked the nature trail where I got to see native plants and wildlife. With the upgrades, this park now has all of the amenities needed to inspire a healthy, active lifestyle for the West Lakes families who live in this neighborhood and all who visit.

This is located right next to the Dinosaur ride in DinoLand U.S.A. This entire area is undergoing a major renovation but one of the parts that has not changes is the playground and the Boneyard. At first glance, it looks like just a kids' play area--but don't let that fool you. It's actually a super fun place to explore, especially if you need a break from the long lines and walking. The whole area is themed like an old dinosaur dig site, and it's packed with things to climb, slide down, and explore. There's a big shaded dig pit where kids (and yeah, maybe some adults too) can uncover massive "fossils" using shovels and brushes. It's all soft, sandy gravel so it feels safe, and it's surprisingly relaxing to just hang out there for a bit. I loved how detailed the theming was--cranes, tools, signs, bones sticking out of the ground--it really felt like a working dig site. It's also fenced in and well shaded (but NOT air conditioned), which makes it a perfect spot for parents to relax while the kids burn off some energy. An added bonus is this is one of the many places in the park where you can earn a sticker for the Wilderness Explorer Badge. So, if you're in Animal Kingdom with little ones (or even if you're just a big kid at heart), The Boneyard is definitely worth a stop.

There is a bridge that you can cross once inside the attraction. It leads to an excavation site with larger than normal sand rocks. Kids can dig out dinosaur shaped bones or just fill tons of green buckets. Characters will visit the play area from time to time. During our visit we were visited by Pluto who marched around and played with the children. There is stroller parking and alcohol hand gel for when you leave.
