Reiter Park, hosts a lot of great events and activities in the Longwood area. We stop here several times during the year to meet up with friends and have a blast. We have attended the Independence Day Celebration, the Pirate Seafood Festival, the Food Truck Battle, the Memorial Day Celebration, the Concert in the Park, and several other events I can't remember at the moment; regardless, they are all a blast. My most recent visit was for their Independence Day Celebration on 6/29/24. We arrived around 7:30 pm and were only a few minutes walk from the park, fireworks started around 9:00pm. This year, the City hired SWITCH, one of our favorite local bands to perform several sets for guests while we enjoyed the festivities. Switch always brings their A-game and gets the crowd dancing. The park has a large grassy area that is on a slight slope, so you can see the stage from pretty much anywhere. 10x10 pop up tents, coolers, and chairs are permitted. There are plenty food trucks available if you're hankering for something good. You can also purchase beer and mixed drinks if you're feeling frisky. There are plenty of vendors selling jewelry, artwork, crafts, knick knacks and other odds and ends that keep you occupied while the band is on break. The city does a great job withthis event and there is no expense spared especially on the Police, they have a heavy presence but not in a bad way. On a celebration like Independence Day you just need to CYA. The fire works were amazing just as in years previous. If you ever have an opportunity to go I highly recommended coming for Independence Day since they usually schedule it the weekend or several days before July 4th.

My first time at this park was pretty fun! I came out for an event to support autism awareness and check out the farmers market. It was so nice to see everyone come out and support a cause. There were Disney princesses I a small parade, and cool cars designed after marvel and DC characters! The park is a pretty nice size and has a covered pavilion area which would be great for events during the summer time! I'll be sure to check this park out more since it's not a far drive from me!

Great park for the kids to play, you can reserve the pavilions thru the city for party's Well kept and very clean even the bathrooms are always well maintained. If you like walking for exercise or playing basketball this is the place, a full basketball court and tennis court plus a trail that goes around the park to get your exercise for the day. This is an awesome addition to the city of Longwood and the hospital is right next to the park.

    Welcome to Reiter Park!

Beautiful spacious park. Clean playground with shaded picnic tables. This is located right next to the Longwood Fire Station. There is a basketball court, small walking trail around the park, educational signs you can read about wildlife and exercise stations for your use! My family visited today and it wasn't busy at all (Friday... but first day of Seminole County's spring break). In the back part of the park, there is a large beautiful tree- a great background for photos! There are beautiful flowers here that have been planted where bees and butterflies flourish. Come visit and spend a little time here!

This new park is absolutely gorgeous and a wonderful place to visit. They have many different events that you should check out on Facebook. They do weekend concerts at the bandshell and recently I attend the pirate seafood festival. If you want to check it out on a regular day, you can take the kids to play on the splash pad or playground. There's also a hill there that they love to run on and roll down. There are no dogs allowed though, just FYI.

The tree was named for State Senator Moses Overstreet, who owned the land around the tree and donated it to the county in 1927 for use as a park. In 1929, President Calvin Coolidge visited the Senator for the park's dedication. The Senator was a popular tourist stop for many years. The Seminole Tribe of Florida used the tall cypress as a landmark, and in the 1800's sightseers paid for buggy rides through the swamp, then hopped a series of logs to make it to the tree. A boardwalk was added to make it easier to access The Senator. Sadly it burned down in 2012 in an arson fire caused by a drug addict. Visitors to the park can see the remains of The Senator along with some informational signage. Big Tree Park is also home to Lady Liberty, a 2,000 year old historic Bald Cypress, and the Phoenix, a genetic clone of The Senator. While the trees are the real draw to the park it also has a cute playground in the center island, which lets kids play inside a replica of a cypress trunk. There is a picnic pavilion and restrooms if you want to bring a lunch. Big Tree Park is a stop on the Cross Seminole Trail used by cyclists and runners.

As the name implies, this park is at its peak during azalea season, but don't be discouraged if these colorful blooms are till hidden- there is so much more to discover in this park. Take a walk along the path that meanders under the bridges and around the creek. You'll find tons of special spots where you'll want to pause, take a picture, and enjoy a moment of peace (just thinking about it is putting me in a zen mood!). The park also has a nice stage area which is small, but can be used as a wedding location (I've been a bridesmaid here!). I wouldn't recommend going to the park at night, as it doesn't have lights and can get a bit creepy, but during the day make sure to get your pup on a leash, pack a light lunch, and get ready for the best picnic ever!
