Pie eating contest last year during the pioneer fest at the park.

I went to this park for a pioneer event. It is located near Orange avenue and not too far from downtown. Entrance and parking was free, and was ample during the event. The park is spacious as a saw lots of spaces to walk and play sports. I also saw people play cricket in one of the fields. I think there was a playground, but I didn't pay close attention. I was more focused on the event, which had various vendors and stages showcasing music and pioneer reenactments. They used to have horses that kids (and a kid at heart that's me) can ride during the event, but they didn't have them this year. So, not sure if the park is equestrian friendly. But the park was clean and family friendly. It is a nice free park for sports, events, and family activities.

Opened in 1994, Cypress Grove Park is on a former citrus grove on Lake Jessamine. County Chairman Linda Chapin who was elected in 1986 worked with area resident Barbara Bozeman to purchase the property for three million dollars before it hit the market in order to create a park. Joe Anglin designed the park to be more passive and appealing to adults as opposed to having more sports amenities like other area Orlando parks. The centerpiece of Cypress Grove is a 1925 two-story Estate House owned by one of the county's earliest tax collectors. The house has been renovated to accommodate weddings, showers, and other private events and the grounds have been landscaped to provide a lovely backdrop for events held on the grounds. . Other amenities in this park include a 1.2 mile loop trail for walking, running, and biking, a playground, picnic pavilions, fishing pier, dog park, sports fields, and restrooms. What stands out for me is how beautiful this park is. Spanish moss drips from oak and flowering crepe myrtle trees that provide shade over the parks walkways. Cypress Grove Park is spotlessly maintained. You can easily see why decades of Orlando families have been drawn to this recreational paradise.

    Fun fun fun!

What a beautiful park very spacious and well kept! I enjoy the walking path and they have a very nice spacious dog park. The playground area is nice with lots of different equipment for the kids to utilize. The only downside is on the weekends. It gets very very, very crowded.!

I've driven by this beautiful park sooo many times, and I cannot believe I never visited. Once you drive through the gates, the first thing you notice is that it doesn't seem like you're in Florida anymore. It's almost as if you're in gorgeous park in Savannah GA. There are thousands of cypress trees covered in Spanish moss, ample bike and walking trails, intricate bridges, areas for children to play (and adults), as well as a horse riding area, volleyball courts and gazebos. The view of the winter park chain of lakes is absolutely stunning, with several docks that you can walk out onto and enjoy the view. You'd be hard pressed to find a single palm tree, and it feels that you've traveled to another world. I spent at least three hours walking, sunbathing, and half asleep on benches. Best.day.ever.

Cypress Grove Park is a great park located on Holden Avenue. It is a large park that foe whatever reason, reminds me of a large golf course without any actual holes. I do not mean this in a disparaging way, but everything that I am in the park I half expect to see a golfing group strolling by with caddies in tow. Cypress Grove Park also contains the Grove House and the Estate House, both great places for venues. There are also places to picnic or walk and Cypress Grove Park is a great place to unwind and get away from the hustle and bustle of living in a city. All in all, this is a cool place to head towards if you want to take a break from the stress of modern Orlando living. This park is in the Holden Heights section of Orlando, Florida, a bit south of the SODO district and also south of the downtown area. I will give Cypress Grove Park five stars and I would definitely recommend this park.

I've always loved this park...Im surprised I haven't written a review as yet. It's a great place for a romantic picnic. We used to picnic here all the time when we lived in Orlando. There are many private places to set up a blanket and a basket of goodies. There are several grills located all over the park as well for family/friends' barbecue. The kids loved the playground area, equipped with swings and seesaws, and slides galore. And the view of the lake no matter where you're standing or sitting is a beautiful site to see. Sunsets over the water are the best. This is a perfect park for taking pictures and doing photoshoots. There is a public restroom that has always been clean whenever I needed to use it. But the best part about this park to me is the trees. The endless amount of trees that sway in the wind, to sit under and view, is priceless. I get lost in a good daydream whenever I visit.

For parks, I would give this one five stars. It's on a very large area of land, many different zones for activities, picnics, soccer, festivals, etc. There's a small playground near a lake and always many families and friends visiting. I think the most important thing is that it seems to stay clean! No litter or random garbage everywhere, and the landscaping stays up to par.

Nice quiet little stop on our trip to the Disney area. Pretty views with trees with tons of Spanish moss give it a real "Southern feel". Also nice area near the water for picnics and pleasant views. When we visited they were having an annual pioneer festival which was really cool. I even bought a t shirt. If you want a low key way to slow things down during your trip to Disney I suggest this park.

Well, to be honest, it depends what you want out of a park. If you're looking for a big field with a concrete walkway to walk around in the sun. This place is a five If you're looking to enjoy nature, maybe see some birds or critters this place is a 1 or 2. Can you guess which type of person I am?

This is probably one of the most beautiful parks we have ever been to in Central Florida. The play ground is clean and has lots of activities for the kids to enjoy. It also has a beautiful walkway with a gorgeous gazebo with a beautiful view of the lake. I really recommend this park to anyone that wants to take their family to the playground or if you want to go for a nice walk.

This is a beautiful park near the intersection of Holden and Orange Ave. It is large with lots of pretty trees, a playground, picnic areas, sports areas, a lakeside section, a walking loop, and a beautiful estate house they use for weddings and events. It's definitely a great local park to visit to get some exercise in and just enjoy being outside on a nice day!

I drove here once on my lunch break for a change of scenery, and it turned out to be a good decision. I sat at one of the picnic tables and ate before exploring. It was larger than I anticipated so there was a lot of walking (a welcome change from sitting in a cubicle all morning). It's a lovely park that looks well maintained and it includes a playground for the kids, sports areas, and pavilions. It also has an estate house that I was curious to explore but I wasn't sure if it was open for visitors or if it was an "event only" type of venue, plus I was on a time limit so I passed on by. My favorite area was the lake. It was beautiful and calm, and I could easily feel the stress of the workday melting away for the short time I was in the park. They had a section that was closed off due to an engagement photoshoot, so I tried to keep a respectful distance. Apparently this place is popular for weddings and photoshoots, which makes sense because you couldn't go wrong with the scenery here. Glad I got to visit at least once!

The neighborhood and the park is named after one of the earliest property owner's daughter's favorite novel, Lorna Doone, written by English author, Richard Doddridge Blackmore, published in 1869. Lake Lorna Doone was the site of the South's first integrated Little League Baseball game on August 9, 1955. The 1955 little league season was the first after US Supreme Court rulings had eliminated "separate but equal" conditions in the nation's schools and public parks. The Pensacola Jaycees were declared winners of their local district by Little League headquarters in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. When local officials would not allow them to play against the all-white teams they instead advanced to the Florida State Tournament which was held at Lake Lorna Doone Park. They ended up losing to host Orlando in the second round, 5-0 but they were welcomed by the hometown crowd and given encouragement. In 2021, 12 acre Lake Lorna Doone Park underwent an $8 million renovation. Added to the park was the nine hole Arnold Palmer Putting Experience, fitness stations, a playground, football fields, basketball courts, a splash pad and the Winnie Palmer Nature Trail. I especially liked the nature trail where I got to see native plants and wildlife. With the upgrades, this park now has all of the amenities needed to inspire a healthy, active lifestyle for the West Lakes families who live in this neighborhood and all who visit.
