Having…read morejust fractured a toe, I was in need of the dreaded "boot" to wear to help with the healing process. After leaving the doctor's office with a surgical shoe, I knew that it wouldn't give me the support needed to keep the toe immobile so I had arranged for the doctor to give me a prescription so I could get my own boot. I checked with my insurance and learned that Hanger clinic accepts it and was able to get an appointment for a fitting within 24 hours. Hanger clinic is located on South 19th Street in the Southside and metered street parking is available. Masks are required here since it is a medical facility. Once inside I gave the receptionist my completed paperwork and necessary cards and later was called back by a clinician for my fitting. He and his co-worker took the time to properly fit me to a boot that had a rocking sole and didn't need the push air button that are found on so many of these boots that add to the weight. I learned that the air button is primarily designed to secure the calf but in my case it wasn't necessary. The assistant helped put foam padding near the ankle to provide cushioning and keep my foot rigid. As I walked around I noticed it wasn't near as heavy as the boots I had previously purchased at doctor's offices and hopefully will speed the healing process. Once done they gave me a bag along with extra paddings and the instruction book. I was able to check out freely and head home with my new medical boot. Hanger clinic has more than one location in the city but if there is something special you need then it is best to call. Likewise if it covered under your health insurance then they will submit the claim for you. It's good to know that there are great places available to suit your medical supply needs in the unfortunate event you need it. They offer free evaluations and among the supplies the offer are diabetic shoes. I'm happy to have such a place that treats me with courtesy and respect as well as professional to insure my medical needs are met.

While he was gone he was searching for a method to NOT fit my prosthetic. I must add that the company Christmas party was happening the second my appointment ended. His claim was that Hanger could not place a new and different prosthetic under me because of my osseointegration. his claim was that my new Freedom leg weighed .08 grams more and could break my femur. I immediately said my winter boots weigh four pounds each. This makes no sense. His response was... it was company policy. The reality is that Dr. McGough, the installing surgeon, stated, that this is ABSOLUTELY not true and borders moronic. The need to have a Christmas party. The attitude that ensued from my repeated calls stating that my C-Leg was inoperable and I was falling is completely a violation of the oath that they take to protect and care for their patients. The interaction with them was uncomfortable and the prosthetist DID NOT make me feel safe. Lastly, it took until April 15, 2023, four months of walking on a broken prosthetic, to receive my new prosthetic from a small firm that actually cared about their patient. I would not recommend Hanger Clinic with their restrictive policies and moronic non-medical facts and ideas that affect any patient osseointegrated or not. Our lives are hard enough. Dealing with a person or persons that make you feel unsafe is not acceptable. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

It is near impossible to talk to anyone. I have waited over 9 weeks for an orthotic script that was originally suppose to take less than 3 weeks to be filled. I have made numerous calls to them with little or no response. I just found out they lost my prescription and I will have to start over. It took them 9 weeks figure that out? I will be starting over only with another company who hopefully values their customers a little more

I came here looking for good walking and supportive shoes for my upcoming Disney trip in June…read more Knowing New Balance makes descent walking shoes I thought I could get a pair here. The lady who helped me explained that during the pandemic New Balance had temporarily halted production and that they were only now starting to make and ship shoes. She measured my feet and recommended I try Brooks. She taught me how to tie a secure knot at the ends so that my ankles would be supportive. The shoes felt very good and then I inquired about orthotics with a metatarsal arch for support. She showed me one pair and had to order my size. Along with that she recommended a pair of beach sandals by Birkenstock which would give me more support than ordinary flip flops. I'm allowed to try out my purchases for two weeks as long as I don't take them outside in the event I wish to return them. The very next day I got a call from them telling me that my orthopedic inserts had come in. Sanaljon carries all the top shoe brands and they carry specialty shoes, diabetic shoes, socks, and pretty much everything for you footwear needs. Expect to pay more here because you are buying name brand and quality. Am very happy with my purchase and will shop here again for my shoe needs.

I've long used custom orthotics…read moreprovided by my physical therapist, but a new problem was a challenge and the people at Colaizzi understood what was required even if it involved no shortcuts or prefabricated inserts. A cast was made, a custom orthotic was formed, then trimmed to fit. I've been using it now for weeks and the problem I was having went away after a few weeks of usage. I'm now walking thousands of steps a day with the problem not reoccurring. What is a surprise is that as accredited medical providers, they require medical information and documentation, even prescriptions. They follow all the rules and produce high-quality end results which is why they have survived in business for decades. And yes, the right orthotic often has to have a certain depth and width to provide the support needed to correct the problem, and at least in my case, I had to buy a larger shoe. Or I guess you can buy an imported do-it-yourself solution and try your luck. After all, it's your foot.

After the consultation, the man told me the brace would be in in less than a week. I waited 4 weeks and nothing. Kept calling and leaving messages and finally got a call back. I went in and the brace they gave me was not what my podiatrist had asked for (she asked for a foot brace with gel supports). I got a canvas-like cheap brace that has stiff metal stays in it and the front seems literally push on/dig into the area the doctor wanted the brace to avoid. I wore it for 10 minutes and took it off because it immediately made the pain worse on the side of my foot. Then it takes 2 months to get the bill ($100 for what Amazon literally sells for $18.99) and it was dated 3 weeks ago but mailed 1 day before the due date. I will never go back, I could've saved money and just ordered the right one from Amazon myself.
