Years ago, this place was known for really good fried chicken when it was open for dinner every night. It's only open for breakfast and lunch and a nice thing is if you come in at 7 AM and you are hungry for a hamburger, they will cook you a hamburger! Today we came in for breakfast and the place I'll be at slightly dated is still clean. We got the best waitress in the world and she was just a sweetheart. New to menu well and kept coming to our table to make sure everything was fine. Probably waited about 10 minutes or so to get our breakfast once we ordered it. We'll talk about the price factor here, their prices are very much in line with other places in the area that we have been visiting the past few weeks. So I would say average on prices. Food portions, however, are generous. Can't leave here hungry! The girlfriend had the western omelette and I got to taste it and it was amazing. Cooked perfectly and had to write amount of ham, cheese, onion, and green pepper. It was seasoned beautifully. I had the Mexican skillet and the waitress asked if I wanted some of their homemade salsa which I agreed to. Their Mexican salsa was amazing, flavorful and had a little bit of heat. Perfect for me. If you don't like hot sauce, don't try it! But it was perfect for me! My eggs were over easy and they were done to perfection the way I love them. The potatoes in the skillet didn't come out of a bag frozen as they appeared to be fresh made in the kitchen. Generous portion of meat inside the skillet. I'm glad for this choice and I will try it again. All in all, this experience was great and I highly recommend Delavan family restaurant! read more

Horrible place. Do not go here. Waitress told me she didn't like my attitude! She was filling sugars at another table while I watched my food sitting in the window to be picked up. Three other people standing at register doing nothing. Sure enough , my biscuits & gravy were cold, plus she forgot my side of bacon after waiting 45 minutes for my breakfast. I asked her to bring me hot or at the very least warm biscuits & gravy & she tried to take my plate wich i wouldnt let her after this point i wanted to start eating. She told me she didnt like my attitude & then started using the f word. I actually had to get up & leave. Unprofessional, foul mouthed waitress & service. Whether it's breakfast, lunch, or a late dinner, this is the place to go in the area if you want solid, decent food at reasonable prices. An honest half-pound burger with chips for about $7, including fresh soup or salad. Hard to beat. Family-owned and operated, the owner, Israel, and his wife are here and hard at work most every day, and the rest of the staff, from Robert to Debbie and everyone in-between know what they are about and do it well. Delavan Family Restaurant is a tradition. I rarely swing through Delavan without a stop. Nothing beats that 50's diner feel where you can get an enormous salad, a BLT, anything with eggs, a burger, or Mexican, all in the same restaurant. Great menu, awesome awesome breakfast food! Clean and newly renovated. I had the Mexican skillet and it was delicious. My wife had the bacon burrito which was also delicious. Staying at Lake Lawn lodge: resort. Found this restaurant and took a chance for breakfast. Hot eggs, hash browns, biscuits and gravy with scrabble eggs on top. Great food and service. Pricing is very reasonable. Highly recommend especially if your touristing. read more

We had worked at an outdoor event all day and were really tired and hungry by the time we found this wonderful place. Our server Andy was polite, professional and accurate, anticipating all of our needs as they arose. Food was fresh, well prepared and very boutiful. The surprize kicker was the bill. We basically did the full dinner experience for about $10 per person. All this and close to a huge tourist draw, so we expected to pay so much more. The menu has a lot of variety ranging from breakfast favorites to Mexican. I had enchiladas suize and my wife had a taco salad. Serving sizes are huge, prices are modest, and our food was great. Service was also very good. All in all I'd say this is a great "local joint". read more

There is nothing better on a sunny morning than sitting in the Delavan Family Restaurant with a hangover and ordering omlettes, toast, hashbrowns, the works! This place served usual family restaurant food. The food is good as are the serving sizes and prices. The thing that makes this place special is that there are always the same people working and eating here. For good breakfast, stop by this place.
