Calabria Restaurant is absolutely outstanding! The food there is absolutely incredible! My husband had the chicken parmesan and I had the veal marsala. Saturday night around 5:30 PM. Expect to see the place packed with only another couple sitting in the dining room and a guy at the bar. The restaurant feels more like a café when you walk in or diner. It was clean. Our waiter who might be the owner, but I'm not sure waiting on us and was very good at his job and very knowledgeable of the menu. We were treated with respect and kept our drinks full. We had the cheese curds as a appetizer and they were not too bad. They were breaded and came with ranch dressing to dip them in. We had buffalo wings, which were obviously frozen out of a bag and a very big disappointment. The meat was very dry and tough. Caesar salad was done good and tasted very good. Had the jalapeño half pound burger and it was cooked medium as I requested. It's a big burger and had good toppings on it. It was very tasty and I have no complaints for that. Their french fries are not traditional and taste like they are coated with something but they were very tasty. They just weren't regular french fries. It's like they have some kind of coating on them. Again they were very tasty and done good. Their fajitas are the star of the show. They come out sizzling and smell and taste amazing. They have a decent kids menu and everything on the kids menu is 6.99. As for the prices, their prices decent. A half pound burger and fry was $11.99. You compare the prices to other restaurants in the area and there in line with the pricing. Saturday night is their prime rib night and at 6:30 when we're about done with our meal, we were the only table in the restaurant. It says one of two things, prime rib is either no good or too expensive? I don't know what the answer is to that question but it was a disappointment not to see the place, at least half full on a Saturday night. read more

This is my third update of my review of this location as it's been under new ownership for a year but Yelp keeps transferring the reviews. I've eaten here four times since the change twice for lunch - twice for breakfast. The food has been good and the service efficient and prices are reasonable. My favorite is their soft shell grilled chicken flour tacos. It usually comes with rice and beans but I just as for extra rice. Very good and a lot to eat. Give it a chance - I think you'll enjoy it. read more

Fantastic place to eat! Staff was beyond friendly. The food was delicious and reasonably priced! Nice quiet environment. clean. Large/clean restroom! My husband and I split an appetizer.He had the patty melt with fries, I had the steak sandwich with fries and we each had a soda. Our Bill was $30 plus tip. Very reasonable for what we got! My husband and I went for a quick meal, the waitress was slow and unattentive. I ordered chicken marsala, and I think they used red wine vinegar, there was no marsala wine taste at all. My husband had chicken fettuccine Alfredo, definitely jarred Alfredo sauce. Only good thing I can say about this restaurant is the wine was decent. read more

This is my go to place. My family has been going to this nice little place for almost 5 years. I even got my mother hooked on it. You walk in get treated my the nicest people. I always have breakfast and it's great but my wife has tried just about everything else and has never been disappointed. My three children like coming here. They always walk away happy and full. The place is clean. I have done some work in back so I know that the kitchen is clean. The prices are fair the food is great what more could you ask for. read more

Calabria took the place of Casa Maria in Elkhorn and is an American, Italian, and Mexican mix restaurant. My wife and I decided to eat here since it did just open and they advertised a friday fish fry. When we arrived we were greated by a polite young woman and shown to our table. The layout of the restaurant could use some changing since some of the tables were a little too close together to be comfortable. My wife and I both decided to have the fish fry and my son decided to have the hot dog and fries kids meal. I was very disapointed to learn that we could not have a fish fry since they ran out of fish for the special. Normally I wouldn't be bothered by this but it was only 7pm and still had up to 2 hours of a decent dinner searvice time left. Like I said, very disapointed. I decided to order the baked lasagna which came with a salad or soup. I chose the salad and asked for ranch dressing. To my amazement they ran out of ranch dressing also. So I picked Italian dressing for my salad. My wife ordered the chicken parm with a salad and thousand island dressing. First came the bread basket which was very good and had what appeared to be fresh made rolls. Then came the salads. The salads didn't even look impressive. By the taste, you could tell they were pre-packaged salads. Kind of like something you could pick up at walmart. It was far from fresh since the lettuce was all ready slightly brown. The croutons tasted soggy and soft. The one cherry tomato that was on the plate was the one shinning star of the salad but who can screw up a cherry tomato? So now my entre arrives. At first glance it looked OK. Looks are very deceiving. I tasted the sauce that covered the lasagna. It tasted like canned tomato sauce and was very bland. The portion of the lasagna was OK, could have been a little bigger but it was OK. The lasagna itself tasted like a frozen entre like the "oncore" family sized frozen dinners. The meat that was supposed to be in the meat sauce was non existent and when you were lucky enough to get a piece of meat it tasted like they took it out of the chef boyardee meatballs. The lasagna was overcooked and the bottom was black and chewy. Half way through, my wife and I switched entres. Now for the chicken parm. The sauce was the exact same sauce as on the lasagna which, as stated before tasted bland and like it came out of a can. The spaghetti noodles were cooked well. I have mixed feelings about the chicken. The chicken itself was very bland. Even though the menu stated breaded chicken, the breading was harder to find than waldo. The best part of the chicken parm was the melted cheese. Well, it wasn't all bad. My sons hot dog was cooked good and his french fries, all though not freshly made, were decent. My opinion is that the owners are way over their head. They may be able to stay in business for a short while serving food like they do but when word gets out of the quality of the food they will loose customers. I can't forsee anyone paying that much for a meal they could buy in the frozen foods section at walmart and eat at home. I might give them a second chance but not looking good yet. read more

So we've been back several times since my first review and they've certainly become more successful. We enjoy the easy atmosphere and how friendly the owners are. Every time we come we get dorm thing different and have yet to be disappointed. In a small city with few options, this is a great little family restaurant. I got a coupon in the mail and decided to have lunch here. The owners are Italian so I had certain expectations for the beef sandwich I ordered. What a huge disappointment. I was served a warm roast beef sandwich. There were 5 slices of deli roast beef served on a roll with no juice or peppers and they had the audacity to call it an Italian Beef! Me thinks not. I gave it back to waitress and the owner gave me excuses why the sandwich was not to my liking. Maybe their pasta entrees are good but I'll never know. read more

Pasta was a big oily, soggy mess of overcooked barely warm angel hair pasta. Sauce was a train wreck. Italian steak. Covered in burnt; onions, peppers, mushrooms and something that pretended to be cheese. Mashed potatoes were an odd mix of instant and red skinned, sick and wrong. Of all the restaurants I've been to in Elkhorn, this is probably the worst. First, it was empty on a Saturday night. Not good. My boyfriend and I got the bruschetta appetizer option and two pasta entrees. The bruschetta arrived with slices of mozzerella haphazardly microwaved on the bread and the bruschetta itself was sort of limp and dull looking, not fresh at all. The soup we got with our entrees was alright but nothing spectacular. It was made in the restaurant but had the taste of sitting in a pot for a few days. When our entrees got there, I had the asiago ravioli and my boyfriend had the Pasta a la Calabria (or something along those lines.) I had roughly ten small raviolis. While they were good, they were not worth the 13 dollars I paid for them. My boyfriend's entree was absolutely doused in oil, did not have as many vegetables as advertised and was rather bland tasting. 35 dollars for all that. The one redeeming factor of the place is it's the only local place with Coke products. However, we will not be back. read more

I have never written a 1 star review, but the service AND food were the worst I've ever had. The waitress was extremely slow, it took almost 10 minutes to bring a round of waters. Once we received our waters we immediately placed our order including food and cocktails. Another 10 minutes later my husband was asked by another waitress if he wanted more water, he replied that we were just waiting for our cocktails. The other waitress went back to the bar to grab the beer and our waitress made my brandy old fashioned which tasted nothing at all like a brandy old fashioned. Our table ordered italian beefs (2) a pancake, chicken tenders, grilled cheese and chicken alfredo. The Italian beef tasted like leather - it was the worst Italian beef I have ever had, the bacon with the pancake tasted gross, and the chicken in the chicken alfredo was rubbery. The waitress never came back to refill out waters, she had full access to our entire table (in the middle of the room, no part was against a wall) yet made us pass food and drinks to other members at our table, and she was shaking as if she was withdrawing from something. There were only two other tables occupied in the restaurant. It was very disappointing to try to spend a night out with our family and our experience was awful and food and terrible service. read more

This place is one of my top thee picks of all time. All you can eat fish fry is close to the best I've ever had, and for less then 8 bucks you cant beat eat. My wife and I decided that, on the spur of the moment, to stop and have dinner at Calabria. Since we live less than a mile away and pass this place whenever we leave home we thought it was time to give them a shot. They have moved into a new location and it has windows across the front of the restaurant and always seems to be busy when we pass so we thought they must have something people like. The restaurant was smaller than it appears from the street but that is of no issue to me. We were seated right away and were a bit confused by their large menu. The lunch items were listed and a note stated something about not being able to get these entrees after lunch but it was hard to tell if they meant that whole side of the menu was not available after lunch or just a few of the listed entrees. After clarification by the waitress my wife ordered their Chicken Caesar sandwich and I ordered their Calabria grilled chicken sandwich that had bacon, cheese and a honey mustard sauce added to it. The server brought our soup as it was a part of the entree that were ordered. We both had the chicken noodle soup and, expecting a soup that was close to a typical canned soup most restaurants serve, this soup was one of the best I have ever had. We had just a small bowl but I told my wife I would come back for a full serving of that soup alone. My wife and I both agreed it was very good soup. (I know its not hard to mess up chicken soup but for some reason this was better than most). The entree surprised us. the chicken sandwiches were not just prepared patties of processed chicken but real, filleted chicken breast grilled perfectly. The buns again, were not just the normally hamburger bun one finds at most greasy spoons but a gourmet bun that was soft and inviting. My sandwich was cooked to perfection with the right amount of honey mustard sauce while my wife commented her's was a bit messy but she piled on the juicy tomatoes and pickles that were served with the entrees which made is a bit of a delicious drippy mess. Both entrees came with your typical french fries but they were hot and good. To say that out meal exceeded our expectations would be an understatement. Now we never have desserts while eating out but this time my wife wanted a little something after the meal. Out server suggested the tiramisu and we took her up on the suggestion. The order was big enough for two without being too much. It seemed to be a slightly bit frozen in spots but, well lets be honest, it was tiramisu and it was damn good. A god cap to an excellent, yet unexpected good meal. The service was a bit slow but that had more to do with the waitress being new and very nervous (she told us she was new during our conversations with her). Overall the food was surprisingly excellent and reasonable. For the two meals and the dessert our bill came to just a hair over 20 bucks. In both my wife's and my view, well worth what we paid for.
