We recently rented 66 Henlopen Ave in Rehoboth through Jack Lingo and unfortunately had a very…read morenegative experience due to the condition of the home. Upon arrival, it was immediately clear that the property was unsafe and uninhabitable due to mold and mildew issues. The overwhelming smell of mildew hit us the moment we opened the door, and within minutes we developed headaches. The carpet by the front door was damp, adding to the unhealthy environment. When we called Jack Lingo immediately upon arrival, our concerns were dismissed. We were told the property had been "rented heavily throughout the season," as if that somehow undermined or excused the condition of the home. They also refused to refund any money, claiming the problem was due to the AC being set to "on" instead of "auto." This explanation is not credible, as an AC setting does not cause widespread mildew, damp carpet, and an overwhelming smell the moment guests arrive. Beyond the mildew, the home was simply not maintained to a professional standard. We found a spider on a pillow in one of the bedrooms, cobwebs throughout the corners of the house, dirty dishes, and greasy residue on the countertops. These conditions made it clear the property had not been properly cleaned or prepared for guests. The one positive was that the outdoor porch and shower were wonderful, but that in no way offsets the unsafe and unsanitary condition of the home itself. Thank goodness we had the means to immediately get a hotel room so our vacation wasn't ruined. However, the next renter may not be as fortunate, and no one should be subjected to these conditions on what should be a relaxing vacation. The fact remains: a house in this condition should never have been on the rental market in the first place. We share this review not out of anger, but to warn future renters to ask direct questions about property condition and to hold the agency accountable for the homes they represent. Travelers deserve transparency, safety, and basic habitability when booking a vacation rental through a trusted local agency.

DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE! They are dishonest and VERY misleading! I rented a place from…read morethem in the first week of August that advertised it slept 8. We were a party of 2 adults and 3 kids. When we arrived, there were crumbs on the kitchen table but initially we overlooked it and didn't call because we all were in a car for five hours. We also came to learn that all the dishes were sticky and we washed them, drinking glasses had mold in them and there was hair in the refrigerator. The next morning we used the toaster, which was so old, it was burned on the top and seemed never to be emptied so there was a lot of smoke from use. One of the beds, the mattress had broken springs, the pullout couch, mattress on that was totally shot so bought an air mattress. WiFi worked for one night then nothing after that therefore only tv in living room would work. There was a cot that the mattress on that was stained and shot as well. Needs replaced. Intitially we were told to stop at the office of where we rented to pick up pool passes and extra parking permit. Nothing was told to us we needed to spend $90 to get these things, but we did. Issues were brought up upon check out and MARYLU who works at the Rehoboth Office was very loud and boisterous arguing with us. Then stated they would reimburse us the $90 fee for parking pass and $100 for our "troubles". As of this date 9/12/22 we have not heard anything back from MARYLU after numerous emails were sent to her, along with proof I payed for pool passes. MARYLU did advise me that we could have stayed in the 4 seasons room because there was a pullout bed...which there wasn't it was a bamboo or whicker futon, the room had no air conditioning and in august it was at least 90 degrees in the room and the screen was ripped and had a huge bug between the screen door and sliding door. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS AGENCY. Absolutely a horrible experience and they never respond back to you after your stay and do nothing to satisfy the customer.

She was not only nasty any time something was up for negotiation and I questioned it and was looking out for my own interest but was also unethical . She misled and deceived to complete the transaction. She withheld information, breached confidentiality and crossed boundaries. She claimed a licensed plumber completed work when in fact it be was found to be completed by an unlicensed acquaintance, and she deliberately went out of her way to cover this up amongst other things. She constantly blamed both of the agents involved in the transaction every chance she could behind their backs when in reality, her own actions caused the issue. When my desire was expressed to wait for the work to be done before closing she had a fit & took it upon herself to communicate with my movers under false pretenses. She also blamed the seller for various items which have since been confirmed were not the case, in one instance it was from her lack of client confidentiality and limited ability to control her emotions during a business transaction. It's unfortunate because my agent did a nice job but his work was overshadowed by her aggressive shady practices. I also noticed another post on here where it looks like she did the same in a very similar situation. We will never buy another home from her And wouldn't recommend to anyone who is looking to deal with any sort of ethics and class in their transaction.

I've never rented through Coldwell and thought why not since they are a real estate business. Well...it was nice doing business with the people there but afterwards...wasn't so great. I get there to pick up the keys and whatnots for the house rental. The problem is that they don't really provide accurate directions to where you're supposed to be staying at. And worse, I was given the wrong house (the realtor circled the house in the catalog). The house itself was ok. Everyone who stayed with us and visited us agreed that we overpaid. However, I didn't really make a big deal because we simply came to hang out at the beach...not at the house, right? Oh...and the worse part. The realtor neglected to mention that the house was up for sale. So, there was a For Sale sign in the front. So...does that mean the realtor will be coming in at odd times with interested parties? Anyways, it was just the little things that could have been ironed out on the realtor's part. It wasn't really a big deal to piss anyone off. But still...you know what I mean...

Every room smelled of mold and must and had active and attempted-to-cover-up water damage to ceilings and walls. The house hadn't been cleaned in months - cobwebs everywhere, mold in all showers/shower liners, droppings and dirt in kitchen cabinets, and infested with ants. The dishwasher and toaster were broken. The steps to the backyard were broken, loose, with nails sticking up out of the wood. The only positive was proximity to the beach. The staff at Coldwell Banker was horrendous to deal with. Constantly too busy to answer calls and emails in any sort of reasonable timeframe. Nearly impossible to reach. Once we finally did reach them, they offered to bring shower curtain liners and a new toaster... I did further research and found Vrbo reviews of the property from years ago complaining of the same issues, so clearly CB knew, and did nothing about it. They refuse to provide a refund of anything but the $150 cleaning fee. Horrible experience. Will stick with Lingo's going forward.

She offered us sound advice and direction, but the thing that made me appreciate her so deeply ( and this is what made me choose her as my realtor) was this: She saw my house through my eyes. Ours was not an easy property to appreciate. It was an antique, built in 1895, and and we had only lived in it sporadically since 2009. An old house needing care, lots of it just to maintain it, in our youth my husband and I had happily done that to enjoy its spacious rooms, its three floors, the acre of yard. We raised our children there and half the neighborhood kids as well. They could make those old walls shimmer with laughter and generally joyful whooping. It was our family home where we had laughed with and at each other, eaten countless meals and celebrated holidays and at least 100 birthdays around its big table, held each other and cried through our tragedies; it was our safe space. Lori got that. She could see its unique value; to her it was more vintage than old; she told me often how special a property it was. After living in it for 36 years, I needed to hear that. I felt like I was leaving an elderly grandmother who complained often and needed support but was always there to shelter and protect. Ultimately the buyer who came to us had been a child my husband and I had nearly helped raise, our daughter's best buddy and playmate, now a young father with kids of his own. He and his family need all that our home has to give and in turn I'm sure they will rock those old walls with their own good noise. My husband and I have settled in the warmer climate of Georgia, and Lori made it so convenient that we didn't even have to attend the closing. She took care of it all.
