I went for lunch, and was happy to see they have a great deal for weekday lunch time. At this restaurant, you seat yourself. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. We chose to eat outside. I ordered the bean tostada, which came with rice and beans. It was a large portion, so I ate half and brought the other half home. Tables are also given complimentary chips and salsa. 6 pm midweek with friends. Place gets busy but we were able to walk in. I ordered the pork chile verde burrito. It was huge, hot, and fantastic. I was so happy. I loved it!! The pork was plentiful and tender, the verde sauce was delicious. The red and the green salas were both good, but the green was absolutely the winner. This guy is hefty and runs about $20. Normal people would have leftovers, I did not. Service was good but a little slow on the return, it was busy. Great dinner. Support local! read more

I ordered the carne asada plate, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. The best part of the meal was actually the rice and beans they were flavorful and well made. The restaurant itself was okay. It's your typical mom-and-pop Mexican restaurant nothing fancy, but comfortable enough for a casual meal. The grilled onion was undercooked and still hard, while the jalapeño was actually pretty good and had a nice level of spice. The biggest letdown was the carne asada. It had almost no seasoning and tasted only like plain beef. I even tried adding salt, but it didn't improve the flavor. I also requested the steak medium-well, but it came out closer to medium. The salsa served with the chips was another disappointment. It tasted like it came straight from a can rather than being made fresh. My husband ordered the chile relleno, and that wasn't what we expected either. Instead of the traditional chile relleno with a light egg batter, fried until golden, and topped with tomato sauce, it was simply a chile stuffed with cheese and meat. While it wasn't necessarily bad, it wasn't a traditional chile relleno. The service was okay, but it wasn't very attentive. We seated ourselves, placed our order, and after our food was delivered, no one checked back on us. When we were ready to leave, we had to flag someone down just to get the check. Being in California especially in the Santa Barbara area I expected much more from a Mexican restaurant. There is so much incredible Mexican food throughout the state that this meal fell below my expectations. The rice, beans, and jalapeño were the only highlights. Unfortunately, the main dishes lacked the seasoning and preparation I was hoping for, and I honestly feel I could have made a more flavorful meal at home. read more

The food was mediocre as was the service. We ordered a couple of margaritas which were pretty good, one was a prickly pear and the other a Cadillac. The prickly pear was much tastier. We also shared some guacamole which was ok and queso fundido which, honestly, i would never order again. Delgados is located in a great spot and has a wide open patio, very welcoming. Staying in Carpinteria for a few days for work and this one was close to the Best Western. I thought I might try it since like all the other taco spots were closed at 7! Crazy. I wanted something a bit more healthy so I chose the shrimp enchiladas and asked the server to substitute the rice and beans for the caesar salad. Not bad! It was very good and the verde salsa was good. They also gave some chips and salsa and at first the salsa was a bit "tomato-y" like it came out of a can haha but I got used to it. So here is where I had the gripe, the server was great and he gave me the salad, but when I got the bill they charged me for the entire meal + the salad. But the server fixed that right up. I asked for a non itemized bill, and they said they would do it after I paid. But, apparently they didn't or couldn't do it. So that was my only gripe. I'd love to try this place out again the next time I go down for work! read more

Service was great and the restaurant itself is beautiful. The food however was not the best. I ordered the combo plate with a chicken flauta and tamal. The tamal was incredibly dry that when you cut off a piece it just crumbled on the plate and did not taste very fresh. I know tamales are very laborious to make and don't expect them to be made to order, but these were not enjoyable. The flauta tasted good but the crispiness was ruined by the excessive bean broth that all the food was sitting in. It would be nice if the beans came in a separate bowl so the rest of the food doesn't get soggy. Loved the service, location and atmosphere, but the food was not my favorite. read more

This is my absolute favorite Mexican spot in SoCal. I literally plan my trips around making sure I stop in here. The food is NUTS GUYS ABSOLUTELY INSANE. please please please do not leave without ordering the chile verde and eating it with chips we also always get an al pasto burrito which is ultimate. Delgado's is a great Mexican food spot in the beach side town of Carpinteria. Lots of good margaritas and beer options. I went for the Delgado's grande margarita which was a great decision My wife had the flautas which she thoroughly enjoyed. However, I went with their house specialty, which was a trio of amazing sopes. Glad I asked about pork options since the menu only mentioned pork chile verde but they also had al pastor off menu which was incredible!! The masa of the sope was perfect!! Messy and welcomed.
