I went for lunch, and was happy to see they have a great deal for weekday lunch time. At this restaurant, you seat yourself. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. We chose to eat outside. I ordered the bean tostada, which came with rice and beans. It was a large portion, so I ate half and brought the other half home. Tables are also given complimentary chips and salsa. I ordered the carne asada plate, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. The best part of the meal was actually the rice and beans they were flavorful and well made. The restaurant itself was okay. It's your typical mom-and-pop Mexican restaurant nothing fancy, but comfortable enough for a casual meal. The grilled onion was undercooked and still hard, while the jalapeño was actually pretty good and had a nice level of spice. The biggest letdown was the carne asada. It had almost no seasoning and tasted only like plain beef. I even tried adding salt, but it didn't improve the flavor. I also requested the steak medium-well, but it came out closer to medium. The salsa served with the chips was another disappointment. It tasted like it came straight from a can rather than being made fresh. My husband ordered the chile relleno, and that wasn't what we expected either. Instead of the traditional chile relleno with a light egg batter, fried until golden, and topped with tomato sauce, it was simply a chile stuffed with cheese and meat. While it wasn't necessarily bad, it wasn't a traditional chile relleno. The service was okay, but it wasn't very attentive. We seated ourselves, placed our order, and after our food was delivered, no one checked back on us. When we were ready to leave, we had to flag someone down just to get the check. Being in California especially in the Santa Barbara area I expected much more from a Mexican restaurant. There is so much incredible Mexican food throughout the state that this meal fell below my expectations. The rice, beans, and jalapeño were the only highlights. Unfortunately, the main dishes lacked the seasoning and preparation I was hoping for, and I honestly feel I could have made a more flavorful meal at home. read more

6 pm midweek with friends. Place gets busy but we were able to walk in. I ordered the pork chile verde burrito. It was huge, hot, and fantastic. I was so happy. I loved it!! The pork was plentiful and tender, the verde sauce was delicious. The red and the green salas were both good, but the green was absolutely the winner. This guy is hefty and runs about $20. Normal people would have leftovers, I did not. Service was good but a little slow on the return, it was busy. Great dinner. Support local! read more

The food was mediocre as was the service. We ordered a couple of margaritas which were pretty good, one was a prickly pear and the other a Cadillac. The prickly pear was much tastier. We also shared some guacamole which was ok and queso fundido which, honestly, i would never order again. Delgados is located in a great spot and has a wide open patio, very welcoming. I may come back for drinks but not necessarily the food. read more

What's amazing is everything! It was a fabulous day on Wednesday, and I decided to go because of recommendations on yelp. I ordered 2 chili relleno. My server Jay was so attentive. I was spending the night in Carpinteria and Delgado's was just down the street of my lodging. Everything was just outstanding. First off, their Salsa is propably the best I've ever had. Secondly, I had the Clase Azul Plata Margarita (x3) and I was just amazing. All the services were on point and I must say that I've found a true gem in Carpinteria. Staying in Carpinteria for a few days for work and this one was close to the Best Western. I thought I might try it since like all the other taco spots were closed at 7! Crazy. I wanted something a bit more healthy so I chose the shrimp enchiladas and asked the server to substitute the rice and beans for the caesar salad. Not bad! It was very good and the verde salsa was good. They also gave some chips and salsa and at first the salsa was a bit "tomato-y" like it came out of a can haha but I got used to it. So here is where I had the gripe, the server was great and he gave me the salad, but when I got the bill they charged me for the entire meal + the salad. But the server fixed that right up. I asked for a non itemized bill, and they said they would do it after I paid. But, apparently they didn't or couldn't do it. So that was my only gripe. I'd love to try this place out again the next time I go down for work! read more

My wife and myself were just here for the weekend visiting from the Inland Empire, Corona to be exact, we decided to try out Delgado's Mexican Restaurant. We heard good things about this place, this was some of the best authentic Mexican food we've had in awhile.......... The good: Hostess and waitstaff were fantastic Solid chips and salsa, though a bit mild Food is good Sat relatively quickly The bad: Ignored by bartender after hostess let us know we could sit at bar and order a drink while we waited on table GLASS PITCHER IN ICE BOX One drink (beer) was much later than the other (marg). No heads up to switching keg or anything, salsa refill never arrived Maybe a shade pricey for the quality To sum up: If you're in the area and want Mexican food, it's fine. Plenty of history as they've been in business 75+ years. Friendly staff, family environment. Seems to be a neighborhood spot. Willing to chalk up a couple miscues to Saturday night service, but glass in ice is a no-go. Can find better value elsewhere read more

Service was great and the restaurant itself is beautiful. The food however was not the best. I ordered the combo plate with a chicken flauta and tamal. The tamal was incredibly dry that when you cut off a piece it just crumbled on the plate and did not taste very fresh. I know tamales are very laborious to make and don't expect them to be made to order, but these were not enjoyable. The flauta tasted good but the crispiness was ruined by the excessive bean broth that all the food was sitting in. It would be nice if the beans came in a separate bowl so the rest of the food doesn't get soggy. Loved the service, location and atmosphere, but the food was not my favorite. read more

This is my absolute favorite Mexican spot in SoCal. I literally plan my trips around making sure I stop in here. The food is NUTS GUYS ABSOLUTELY INSANE. please please please do not leave without ordering the chile verde and eating it with chips we also always get an al pasto burrito which is ultimate. The staff is also so amazing SAMANTHA WE LOVE YOU!! We picked up for my birthday today and they gave us some flan and wrote a cute birthday note. Delgado's is a great Mexican food spot in the beach side town of Carpinteria. Lots of good margaritas and beer options. I went for the Delgado's grande margarita which was a great decision My wife had the flautas which she thoroughly enjoyed. However, I went with their house specialty, which was a trio of amazing sopes. Glad I asked about pork options since the menu only mentioned pork chile verde but they also had al pastor off menu which was incredible!! The masa of the sope was perfect!! Messy and welcomed. Definitely make a stop here if you get the chance. read more

Real Mexican food! Excellent service, very personal by Jaiden! Lovely neighborhood restaurant! What a way to spend a Sunday morning. The outdoor seating was just amazing and the service was spectacular. The food was even better! Very, very authentic Mexican food that was prepared exactly how it was asked for. To top it all off, they even added some whipped cream to my coffee with no hesitation. My parents are older and get cold easily, so we sat next to the fire pit. It turns off suddenly and we request it to please be turned back on as it's overcast and barely noon, and a waitress who hasn't been near us in 20 minutes says she smelled gas just now and had to turn it off. Translation: cheap management saw the sun coming out and wanted to save money. There was no gas smell. So classless. Even when we mentioned it again and asked, the glazed-eyes looking girl gave a slight remix of her "unfortunately umm due to me umm smelling gas umm we are not able to turn it back onnnnn." Is everyone who works here on meds or something? Coffee was terrible and watered-down, and simple premade sandwiches took 20 minutes to heat in a panini press and bring out. Food was very mediocre and my "poached" egg was basically hard boiled. The food tastes much better when you order online, probably because they actually know you have a set time limit to pick it up so they make it fresh and with effort. They just dgaf if you're seated, I guess. Just go to Lucky Llama guys.

The problem was that there were some customers allowed to sit and reserve tables for large groups. There were 4 people allowed to sit and reserve a large 15 plus section of the patio and not order anything for over 30 mins. Not even drinks. Not sure why they allow people to sit without the whole party being present... but that's the only reason they don't get 5 stars from us.

My husband finally had to walk inside himself to tell them the food was cold and undercooked. A few minutes later they brought the same plate back out, clearly just microwaved. The eggs were now rubber, the hash was still awful, and the potatoes were still terrible. He went back inside a second time and told them to forget it and just charge us for the bagel, coffee, and my breakfast. Even getting the check took another 20 minutes. What's most frustrating is that nobody seemed to care. No apology, no urgency, no effort to fix anything properly. My breakfast was mediocre at best. The eggs and bacon were fine, but the French toast was cold and looked like plain toast, and they covered the potatoes in cheese without mentioning it. After reading other recent reviews, it's clear this wasn't just a one-off bad day. The common theme seems to be cold food, long waits, inattentive service, and management/staff who simply don't care. This place is overpriced, overrated, and unfortunately living off its past reputation. Maybe just stick with bagels.
