It's a Mexican market with a kitchen in the back that serves amazing food. We tried the breakfast burritos, birria quesadillas, green chilaquiles, and albondigas. Everything was absolutely delicious! The owner was super friendly and helpful, and the menu has so many great options that it was honestly hard to decide what to get. The market itself is also really fun to browse. They have a ton of items and snacks to choose from. We'll definitely be back again and again. So happy to support a local small business like this one! read more

We always make a stop here when driving through the area for some fish and shrimp tacos! The flavors are amazing! They do a double tortilla and fill it up with shrimp or fish! The cabbage and pico de gallo with crema (?) are so delicious. I love adding their green salsa for heat and flavor. They are so filling and so delirious. The service is good! You walk up and order and you sit down and they bring you the food or call you up if it's to go. It's small seating and they're usually busy. It's a casual sit down spot in a market. I stopped here for a breakfast burrito and ordered the chorizo burrito, it was a decent size and pretty good. Just potatoes, cheese and chorizo but was in the mood for chorizo and I'd say they made it well. What I liked most was their salsa, the orange one. Not the darker red or green one but the orange colored one, was excellent! Loved it. Cool little Mexican market. I'd definitely stop by again. Nicest people on the planet. Just plain happy to be here. And happy to serve you when you come in. I always get the chicken mole. Even if I'm getting something else, I can't pass up the Mole. It's my measure for a Mexican restaurant. If the Mole is good... you're in the right place. You also gotta try the abondegas soup. Yum. And takes you right to the heart of Mexico. Super authentic. There is a bad review on here about it, but the person just didn't know what they were ordering. It's the real thing. There are always fresh ripe avocados on the counter for sale. It just doesn't get any more authentic than this. If this doesn't meet your expectations, you're just not looking for Mexican food. Go to Taco Bell. read more

My wife and I were in Carpinteria and we saw this Mexican grocery that had also served food, we decided to try it out. You enter and you see big pots cooking over open flames and people in the back feverishly creating food for what seemed like locals after getting off work and getting some grub and selecting a beer from the cooler. I ordered the al pastor tacos to go from the super nice guy running the register, my only complaint is that it took a little longer than I anticipated, but the wait was worth it. I got two cups for the salsa bar and I got my order and walked it home for about the 1/2 mile walk. The picture isn't the best, because my bag tilted a little on the way, but you can see how much meat they give you, they definitely don't skimp. The meat is seared and spiced perfectly and the tortillas were perfect. I zapped it in the microwave for 30 seconds, just to make sure it didn't cool down on the walk home in this lovely little beach town. Both of the salsas were tasty, but I liked the red one a little more. I had an IPA to go with them and they were a perfect two taco dinner. Check these guys out! read more

The marketplace is a fun place to windowshop while waiting for your food. You need to be able to read Spanish to read the menu, but they do have an English version on their website. Friendly people, and the food is cheaper than a fast food joint. The double burger is delicious, messy, and too big to finish. The fries are frozen but perfectly cooked. Tacos are huge, tasty, and made with fresh ingredients. My fiance thinks that their chicken tacos are better than most of the "gourmet" places in the area. read more

Have been stopping by this place driving down the 101 for over 2 decades. Used to be a great place to get your moneys worth of authentic food. The prices have increased, far exceeded the food experience for not being a sit down restaurant. Was charged $12 for 2 pork tacos. No sides. Just 2 tacos with meat onions and cilantro. To make matters worse they skimped on the salsa bar with only handing over 2 tiny to go cups. Asked if I could get more salsa please. they gave me 1 more cup. This will be my last visit! Such a shame to see this place get so priced out. read more

My husband and i love this place so much. We live in oxnard and gladly drive over for the food! My go to items every time is the albondigas soup and the nachos!! the soup is so hearty and the meatballs have the best texture! Along with the house made tortillas and a load of lemon. It is to die for. The nachos are hard to find anywhere else. The cheese is similar to nacho cheese you get at the movie theatres, which i love, but an elevated version! It definitely could've been better. Our bill was over $40 for a beef burrito, a combination (w/beans and rice) cheese enchilada and a boba drink, which would all be fine if it was good. But the food was very dry. Like it sat in the oven or under the warming light for too long. Even the rice and beans were dry. The flavor was good, that is, not salty but being that it was so dry, it didn't taste so great. Every bite had to be accompanied with a sip of water. Service was decent. Outdoor seating option is nice. In store is low key minimal basic stock. But the food is what will make or break it for us and, sadly, it didn't make it for us. I wish them well, of course, and hope they will do better. read more

For those of you who are anxiety drive, I suggest you look over their menu in English before you step food into their store. Wait staff is super patient and bilingual. I come to Carpinteria about twice a year and just love this little beach town and I was lucky to find another great place in Carpinteria. Homemade corn tortillas, very tasty good quality meat, topped with onions, cilantro, and great hot salsas make up perfect tacos at Reyes Market. They do have a good size menu but only tried the tacos (carnitas and chicken) and my husband got chilequiles with eggs which were good too. Glad I went here before heading home. They have good amount of seating outdoors and few indoors as well. Good customer service. read more

I was so disappointed! After reading all the yelp reviews I was excited to try. Our burritos were mostly rice, no cilantro or onions, plenty of beans, minimal meat. This made for a bland and dry burrito. We paid 40.00 for two burritos, a medium size bag of tortilla chips, one small avocado and a soda. Not worth the hype! read more

I ordered a carne asada crispy taco plate with beans and rice to go. The beef was chopped up pretty well so it was similar to a shred. The meat was moist, flavorful, and having crisp edges. Mmm. Seasoned well. The shell was nicely fried without the dripping mess. All around yummy taco. No complaints on the beans and rice. Plus pricing was fair.

The menu was simple but had vegetarian options, and they also had a case full of bakery goodies that looked delicious. I ordered the white mocha decaf with oat milk and a breakfast sandwich -- both were really good! There wasn't too much interaction with the staff, but they kept the line moving and got the food out quickly. Overall, a great location within walking distance to shops and gardens that we enjoyed strolling through after breakfast. Definitely worth stopping by!

My parents are older and get cold easily, so we sat next to the fire pit. It turns off suddenly and we request it to please be turned back on as it's overcast and barely noon, and a waitress who hasn't been near us in 20 minutes says she smelled gas just now and had to turn it off. Translation: cheap management saw the sun coming out and wanted to save money. There was no gas smell. So classless. Even when we mentioned it again and asked, the glazed-eyes looking girl gave a slight remix of her "unfortunately umm due to me umm smelling gas umm we are not able to turn it back onnnnn." Is everyone who works here on meds or something? Coffee was terrible and watered-down, and simple premade sandwiches took 20 minutes to heat in a panini press and bring out. Food was very mediocre and my "poached" egg was basically hard boiled. The food tastes much better when you order online, probably because they actually know you have a set time limit to pick it up so they make it fresh and with effort. They just dgaf if you're seated, I guess. Just go to Lucky Llama guys.
