Excellent brewery spot with great beer & relaxed service! Located against the railroad track on the back side of the building, it's a bit difficult to find, but just drive all the way in to the large alley, I guess Maple Ave. Nice wide open set up, perfect for a cold beer on a warm day. Wife went for the Crimson Horizon, and she enjoued it. I got a sip and it was smoother butterier than the Firestone cali squeeze? I tried the Avocado Honey Ale since can't go wrong with description of amber honey ale! Was told it was a version of their kolsch with local honey. Wow, it was smooth with a bit of sweet finish, so addictive!!! Still had hours to drive so couldn't just have as many as I wanted, but I checked online and seemed Albertsons sold it so figured I can just pick them up back at home. But the gentleman resting at the bar told me he delivers their beer but only up to the hills. I guess maybe available in stores up to Camarillo, but not over that hill/mountain. I had to have more of it, and they had 6 packs in the cooler for purchase so went for a pack. The green cans are such delightful vessels to hold the even more delightful liquid inside. Wife even cut out the top and using the cute cans as planters, lol! The cans poured out at home was excellent as well, very fresh and refreshing and could get tiny hints of avocado on sips. Just a great beer! After browsing the brewery, it seems avocado honey ale is their signature beer, so I got lucky to choose that from the menu, lol. While enjoying the beer, the amtrak train blew it's horn to leave from the Carpinteria station, so we rushed out to wave and enjoy seeing that go by right in front as well. I am sure the locals were shaking their heads at our excitement of seeing the train go by, one gentleman when leaving even complimented my kid's dance moves from when we were out there to greet and send off the train, lol! Awesome local spot and great folks, just a very relaxing spot to enjoy the delicious avo honey ale! Just hidden so maybe not many visitors to Carpinteria find it, but I picked it out from search for brewery and chose this over the other one on the main streets. What a find for an out of towner! Hope they can expand out or grow their delivery area, maybe get it sent to total wine which must have a distribution center. Otherwise, this is a must stop for any SB trips for sure! read more

Great vibes at Island Brewing Company! There's indoor or outdoor seating. I've also seen people bring their own chairs to sit in. There's usually live music on the weekend and a food truck. Island Brewing Company has a variety of beers to choose from, but they are mostly known for their avocado honey ale. It's a smooth slightly sweet beer. I'm a fan of their hazy IPA too. Their brick and mortar location is a short walk away next to the train tracks where you can sit outside and watch them choo choo by. Seems like a favorite with the locals and close to the beach too. This brewery is one of my favorite breweries, so every time I come to Carp, I always stop by. They have many beers. I tried Avocado Honey Ale today. When I took a sip, I thought "It tastes very interesting", "I don't like it" but after drinking it for a while, the taste was addictive lol I could taste honey slightly. They don't have food but sometimes there is a food truck. The food truck was selling Mexican food today. Also, you can bring food from somewhere. Normally I get a burger from The Spot which is close to this brewery. They sometimes have music. I've been here a few times and usually always opt for the Avocado Honey Ale. It's really good! They have a decent selection of beers and a seltzer option. I have seen food trucks at times but have never ordered from one. It's located right next to the train tracks and they have a nice little outdoor seating area. Great little brewery off the beaten path... Not a designated parking lot so you walk from the Main Square in. But it is a short flat walk and well worth it! Right next to the railroad so I'm not sure what it's like when a train goes by. And a great food truck attached. Excellent tacos! And the beer... Lots of IPA choices 17 beers on top! Outside seating is nice and you can see the beach in some areas as well as the train pass by. Along with a great location across from the beach they bring in live music and food trucks. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Carpinteria. This is one of those breweries that tries to do everything for every type of customer. Want a hazy, sure. Pilsner, we got that too, classic styles like a porter, yep. Unfortunately it fails to execute on many of these styles. Does it taste like a homebrew from your college friends basement? Yep. Does the Pilsner taste of DMS, you like corn and green veggies right? The IPAs taste of caramel and expired hops. The bartenders try to be helpful, but frankly it comes across as being mansplained to any time I tried to order a drink. "You wanna know the difference between a lager and an ale" No, I just want my beer thanks. The only thing this place has going for is location, which would be great except for the family friendliness means you will be watching every one of else's children. Do yourself a favor and spend your afternoon somewhere else. read more

My wife and I love live music and we were thankful this Labor Day weekend there wasn't a bar that didn't have live music it seemed. We wanted to go to Island Brewing Co. on Saturday but our day was too long. Sunday was insanely hot and thankfully we escaped DT Santa Barbra to head to Island Brew Co where the temperature was 12° colder and had a breeze. Drinks were amazing and the music was good. Carpinteria is one of my favorite mini get-aways. It has everything you could possibly need for an awesome day trip or even a weekend stay. This spot is always our first stop when we get into town. It's the perfect way to start the trip. They don't have a kitchen but food trucks do stop by on the weekends and they do allow outside food as well. The vibes and environment there are great. Spent the day in Carpinteria and stopped in Island Brewing for a drink. They had tables set up outside with umbrellas to help with the sun. I tried the new seltzer which was really good and refreshing. Hubby and friends had beer which they all agreed were great. We come and stay in the campground this time every year and always make sure to make several trips to this fun Brewery. We love their beers and their bar tenders. Everyone is always so nice!! During the week, they have music and food trucks available. On Wednesday, they turn their Seltzer into a Tiki drink with a cherry and umbrella! It was delicious!!! Very open and airy. No food is served here, but you can walk across the street to "The Spot" and order food to eat here. I highly recommend that you put this place on your list of great beers in Caprpinteria. read more

My wife and I were staying for a month in Carpinteria in January 2022. We loved it. There is this gem of a brewery, right by the beach and the camping ground and the bartenders were always awesome in the 4 times I went during our month. I mostly had their IPAs, and they were all good. I got some crowlers out of the fridge a couple times as well. It is a really awesome place, right by the train tracks and a fun place to get a beer. they also have a food truck about half the time. read more

Okay, if you're in the mood, take the Amtrak train from either Goleta or SB to Carpinteria and walk a block to Island Brewing Company (or you can drive and park in the same parking lot ;-). What a fantastic spot - especially if you have great weather. Sit on the outside porch, order either a tasting flight (see photo) or a great beer and enjoy! The beers I had in my flight were all excellent. The service was fantastic. I saw only dog friendly behavior, unlike some of the previous posts. Net/net, some of the best beers I've had in some time. First time visiting this location. We got their just as they were opening. The female working was super friendly, it was clean, open floor plan, social distancing was in place and it was very welcoming. We didn't have much time ( had to catch the train back to Santa Barbara) but we grabbed a couple of beers and enjoyed the air conditioning indoors. Let's be real...you don't see many people like me in Carpinteria. I stick out like the tattoos on Post Malone's face. But I have to say that every time I come here, the people make me feel so welcomed. -Positivity, -nice open space, -great location and -decent middle of the road brews. They even keep local event calendars and papers around to read and know what's happening in the area. The beer is better than some places that have higher reviews (I won't name names because this one crazy dude from another brewery keeps attacking me), but I'd rather go here than "there"... (PM me for details, lol) Everyone seems to like the Avocado Honey IPA, but I prefer the Weizenbock. Wheaty, malty, yeasty, buttery (?) and crisp. Yep that's how I like it. Go here. read more

We brought our burgers and fries over from The Spot (our usual routine), except we forgot you have to order food now to have a beer because of COVID. With all the years we have been coming here, I can't believe I haven't already written a review. We have been camping at Carpinteria State Beach for over 20 years and enjoyed coming here when they first opened and make it a point to return several times a year. We also make sure to buy some bottle's and cans to bring home. If you ever find yourself looking for an awesome craft brewery, you have got to give Island Brewing Company a try! Not only is the location great with beautiful sunsets, the evening train, beach and local shops; the beer and seltzers are yummy!! On the weekends most times they have live entertainment and food trucks. Sometimes they have other events during the year and they promote local artists. One of my favorite spots in Carpenteria. There is this adorable wine shop we started at that's across the way, but they didn't allow kids, so that's how we stumbled upon this spot. SO much better! Service was top notch, plethora of food options to choose from (plant based friendly) and they had great wine selections (sorry for a review for a brewery haha). I came here with about 20 people for our wedding weekend and they were all truly amazing. Highly recommend this place! read more
