Our go to for take home Indian food in Ashburn. Favorites include butter chicken and aloo gobi, but have enjoyed many other dishes as well.

We ordered 3 items, 2 of which were Rotten/Expired, the Raita (yogurt) and the dairy products used in their butter chicken. The horrid smell filled the room and I had the unfortunate experience of trying a bite. The food was past expired, like curdled clumpy milk expired. Delhi 6 refused to issue a refund for any of the items. We asked them to pick it up, fully intact, and wanted the driver to keep his tip since he did an exceptional job, but they still refused. The rotten taste is still lingering in my mouth... Because of their negligence and poor customer service, we will not be ordering from them again. read more

Best restaurant of the year! I Yelp a lot and eat out a lot and Delhi 6 is the best all around restaurant I have experienced over the past 6 months. Let me tell you why. The food is fantastic! First, you need to know that the buffet is the deal; even if you are ordering a la carte, it will likely come from the same source. The weekend buffet is less than $12 and you can take as much or as little as you like. You can sample first to see what's good. And when we came, everything tasted very fresh. The service is excellent, friendly and attentive. Even when you order the buffet, it comes with fresh nan to the table. All of the dishes were top notch. We both loved the goat curry; it was spicy enough to add flavor but not nuclear by any means. The next favorite was the butter chicken --as good as it gets for this dish. The basmati rice was perfectly cooked. And the tandoori chicken was excellent though some of the pieces were better than others which seemed to lack the tandoori flavor and color. I can't for the life of me figure out why this place was not packed. The location (strip mall) is not super aesthetic but the interior is fine and I would much rather eat at a humble place with excellent food than a fancy place with sub-par food. Our group of six ate here for lunch on Saturday, December 2nd as we were attending a Powerlifting event nearby. The restaurant was able to accommodate our large group. They had a lovely lunch buffet, but we opted to each order a meal and share. All were delicious. The restaurant was clean, inviting with excellent food and excellent service. I eat Indian food all over the world and happened to be in Ashburn to visit friends and we were referred to this restaurant on the Neighborhood AP. I am telling you it was outstanding and it made our tastebuds awaken bursting with flavor! We started out with the vegetable samosas as an appetizer then we ordered our main entrees. We had Bindi Masala, chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, palak paneer, and Garlic Nan! We ordered the bangan bartha eggplant but they were out of it. There were 3 of us and we had our fill and had enough to to each take home an adequate amount home for dinner. We came at lunch time and sat inside and it was not crowded! I decided this year for Christmas lunch I wanted Indian food. Unfortunately for me, Yelp hasn't quite figured the "open on Christmas" part out yet, so that meant calling every single Indian restaurant listed in the App until one answered. After a half a dozen no-answers, Delhi 6 took my call. The lady on the phone was very thorough in explaining the hours of the day. So, I got up from the sofa, hopped in the car, and crossed 28. When I walked in I had expected menu service. There was only a buffet. I wasn't thrilled, but I was less thrilled in the prospect of trying to find another open restaurant. I took my seat at one of the red booths along the bar side of the restaurant, ordered my Diet Coke, and then headed up to the buffet. The buffet is small. Only about a dozen or so items. Still not thrilled. I asked for Naan, since it wasn't on the buffet. The person working said it was on the way. I loaded up my plate with Butter Chicken, some rice, Tandoori Chicken and a few other odds and ends. Still not thrilled I sat back down and started my meal. I guess, the saying "the secret to happiness is low expectations" has merit. From the first bite of my Butter Chicken I was hooked. The chicken was so soft it nearly melted in my mouth. The flavor was complex but delicate. Not one of the ingredients overpowered any of the others. The balance of heat, cream, spice, and tomato was perfect. At this time, I'm thinking "eh, everything else be damned, four stars despite all of the other shortcomings". My plate was empty. Still no naan. About the same time I got my second plate, this time with pretty much only Butter Chicken the naan arrived. Most Indian Buffet naan is awful. It's too soft. This naan, was well worth the wait. I love this place. The goat is not too gamey but still tastes noticeably like goat. The chef makes the aloo and the noodles with actual spicy heat. The masala noodles are delicious (in my experience, most buffets put out the Chinese-y noodles just to fill out the steam table; like an afterthought) the fried dumpling appetizers are not to be missed. (i didn't catch the name. It was in the same tray w/ pakora). FYI their naan is charred, some people like that and others don't. This review is for their catering service. My husband and I decided to host our daughter's first birthday party here. Brij was outstanding and so accommodating and went out of his way to make sure everything and everyone was taken care of. It was a fantastic evening. For appetizers we got Chicken Tikka, Lamb Seekh Kebab, Papdi Chaat, Masala Noodles and Pakoras. I basically made a meal out of the appetizers. Everything came out fresh and delicious. For entrees we had Butter Chicken, Lamb Roganjosh, Veg Jalfrezi, Dal Makhani, and Chicken Biryani. I didn't even try any of them because I enjoyed the appetizers so much that I was too full to continue! But everyone had wonderful things to say about all the food! Worst customer service and satisfaction. The restaurant closes at 9:30 pm, so I called at 9:10 and asked if I can dine-in if I come in 10 minutes. And the manager confirmed that we can come and dine-in. We reached at exact 9:20 pm and the staff told us you cannot dine-in and do only a take out. We were surprised because we drove all the way home only to dine-in after the manager/staff confirmation and still they refused. And they didn't even accept there mistake. The restaurant was empty and had a weird pungent smell. So I believe it was a blessing in disguise since we didn't get to taste the food. read more

Came here for a nice time. It had reviews for good food and ambience. When we got here, it took a while for us to get attention and we were just one of two tables there. We ordered our whiskey as usual and our food. Food took a while to come out, so we had 4 shot of some glenlevit 12 yr. Turns out it was like 28 dollars a shot. In response to the review we recently received, I'm (On behalf of the Delhi 6 Indian Cuisine) gonna let my beloved costumers know few things about the situation. A customer complained about a bug in his Biriyani which he bought it from our restaurant and also reported it to the Loudoun County (loudoun.gov) about this thing. Now, we had surprise Food Inspection from the LOUDOUN COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT. A food inspection officer turned up to our place and made complete food and surrounding inspection. Here is what the officer's comment on the complaint received: "I conducted a routine inspection of this facility on 3/11/2015. I did not find any insects or evidence of a pest control problem. The latest invoice from the pest control company said they treated here 3/10/2015. I did find a container of bug spray in the kitchen, however, the person-in-charge (PIC) indicated it was an employee's and they do not use it in the establishment. The bug spray was removed from the premises and the PIC was instructed to make sure pesticides are only applied by a certified pesticide applicator in the establishment. EH... We got takeout from this restaurant and it is just okay. We ordered an order of vegetable samosa- they were okay but the sauces (mint chutney and tamarind) that come with it tasted old and vinegary. The chicken tikka masala was one of my least favorites in the area. The sauce was very thin and runny compared to some of my other favorite Indian restaurants and some of the chicken was dark meat verses it all being white meat chunks. The garlic naan was delicious, light and fluffy. So an overall three stars. Probably wouldn't go back on my own, but if one of my family members or friends wanted to eat there I would give it another shot. read more

I've been to Delhi 6 on many occasions and my visit is always a 10. Brij and Singh always make me feel welcome. They are very hospitable. The food is fabulous and the establishment is clean and beautifully decorated. I especially get a kick out of the music videos and their beer selection is pretty good too, try the Godfather. We had been grocery shopping at the nearby Patel Bros and were hungry for a good Indian meal. Happily, there is an excellent Indian restaurant a few doors down in the same shopping center. Delhi-6 is a real find. Excellent food and service and an extensive menu. We started with the Mulligatawny soup, and it was delicious. So was the Chicken Vindaloo that we had for our main course, with sides of Naan and Raita. The Kheer (Indian rice pudding) is an excellent finish. We did not leave hungry! We eat a lot of Indian food and this was just average for the price. A couple of things that put me off: no free refills on fountain soda (being charged $7.50 for a coke was a bit off, especially when it didn't say that on the menu and we weren't told), I ordered 2 glasses of the house red wine but was actually charged for 2 glasses of Malbec (higher price on the menu), the vegetable pakoras weren't hot, the vindaloo wasn't even close to spicy (we asked for "Indian spicy" and it came out mild), and the popadoms were VERY oily. The roganjosh had a nice flavor to it though. read more
