We had a wonderful weekend brunch at Bombay Tandoori in Lansdowne! At $25 per person, the buffet was a great value with plenty of variety. The staff was welcoming and attentive from the moment we arrived. They immediately brought us ice-cold water along with a nice pitcher for the table, which was a thoughtful touch. The buffet had a great selection of appetizers, lots of vegetables and vegetarian choices, and plenty of different sauces and chutneys--including my favorite, raita! Our favorite dish was definitely the Butter Chicken. I especially loved that it was made with tender breast meat rather than dark meat. Another highlight was the fresh, hot dosas. They were made to order and the staff brought them right to our table. Delicious! It was also great to see so many people coming in for brunch and enjoying the restaurant on the weekend. Great find in my area with friendly staff and clean dining area. Plenty of parking spots as well. The buffet has lots of options but main dishes were the goat and butter chicken. There's also a fish dish and lots of vegetarian dishes, as well as Naan, dosa and appetizers. I also tried a bite of rice pudding and 1 ball of a sort of sweet dumpling. Overall a nice weekend (Saturday and Sunday from 12pm to 3pm) Indian food buffet for $25 was a great treat! They are also open for dinner everyday and weekday lunch ala carte or standard menu. If you are looking to try more than 1dish, the weekend lunch is an excellent choice! Finally, I want to acknowledge how friendly and hospitable was the owner Raju who responded very quickly or live when I asked a question on the yelp platform, when we were deciding where to get Indian food; and, somehow she came over when we dined in today and encouraged us to try everything. The other two staff members were just as pleasant and hospitable. It gave us a warm feeling! I was happy with this first visit! I'm having a multi-event wedding this summer and we've been looking for a good caterer and heard really good things about Bombay tandoor. Went with my fiancé and family to try out the food and everything we got (chicken tikka, mixed grill, butter chicken, chicken Amritsari, chicken biryani, carrot and moong dal halwa) were all delicious. Ambiance was nice with Indian songs playing. Service was a little slow, we had to call people down constantly to get water refilled or order more food. From this experience alone, I would've given this a 4 or 4.5 stars. However, about a week later, we had a small family gathering and order to-go trays of chicken tikka for others to try. Unfortunately, this time the flavor wasn't as strong or good and the tikka was more watery than we expected. We also got paneer tikka, which tasted good but for $16, it was only 5 pieces. Called the restaurant to give feedback regarding the watery tikka, and whomever my dad spoke to was rude and condescending. They asked if we were South Indians as South Indians generally do not like the taste of North Indian food. First of all, not true. We had the exact same dish a week prior and it objectively did not taste the same. We also asked why they charged us $16 for the paneer tikka as the menu said $14 and he said that the Leesburg location is priced higher, which again, not clear anywhere on the website or when ordering. If anything, I would assume Tysons location would be more expensive. Anyway, we went from excited that we found our wedding caterer to feeling hurt about the way that one man spoke to my dad. But the first time we had the food in the restaurant was really delicious without any professionalism issues. read more

We actually have a really hard time finding good Indian food in the area. Just ordered here for the first time and - yum! This is it! Had been a fan of the previous Indian restaurant in this location (& felt we FINALLY found a good local spot) until the quality suddenly changed for the worst. Happy to see this Vienna restaurant is now in our area. Excellent food and well packaged delivery. Second visit to Bombay Tandoor in Lansdowne, and again a very good experience. We tried the pani puri, garlic naan, lamb tikka kebab, and lamb rogan josh -- all flavorful, well-spiced, and nicely prepared. The dining area is simple and clean, with high ceilings that make it pleasant and not noisy. Service was attentive and polite, helping with our selections. Prices are reasonable for the area, and while a weekend buffet is available, we haven't tried it yet. read more

This is the best Indian food I've had in a very long time, and it will be my new staple for Indian in this area. The staff was SO nice, and the food came out very fast too. They got the spice levels just right as well, usually most places won't give me (a white guy) the spicy that I ask for! The garlic naan was also amazing. If I had to pick one nit, it would be those tiny little samosas. We ordered the Spinach Chaat, Tandoori Chicken, and Fish Malabar Gravy along with Tandoori Roti and Garlic Naan. Everything was freshly prepared and tasted excellent. My adult kids insisted I leave a 5 star review after our experience tonight so here I am! Can't say enough about the sweet people who work here. Thoughtful caring service and they made my daughter feel special on her birthday. The food was delicious and we wish we'd had room to finish it all, but the leftovers will be just as good. We started out with pani puri and a naan breadbasket. The paratha naan was so good! My daughters had the butter chicken and lamb roghan and I had the chicken saag. Everything was scrumptious! This is an awesome place and a great new addition to Landsdowne! The ambiance is really nice and the food is absolutely delicious. We had the Butter Chicken, Veggie Biryani, Aloo Gobi and roti/naans. Everything was really so nice and the Butter chicken probably best in the area. The service was fantastic and the wait staff checked on us many times and made great suggestions. We went to celebrate our anniversary at Bombay Tandoor in Lansdowne and brought our 2 sons with us. We shared the lamb chops, butter chicken, & garlic naan. We also ordered saag paneer, but my sons didn't eat that dish. Towards the end of the meal, my older son started feeling ill & had to leave to lay down in the car, then I felt ill about 5 minutes later & left to lay down as well. My husband paid and left with my younger son. Later that evening & into the next morning & day, all 4 of us felt sick with various degrees of abdominal cramping, nausea, vomiting, & diarrhea. My younger son had to stay home from school the following day & was kept up throughout the night. We believe it was either the butter chicken, the lamb chops, or the naan that made us all feel ill because those are the dishes that we had in common. I called the restaurant as soon as they opened the next evening, around 5 pm, less than 24 hours after eating there to tell them what had occurred with our illnesses. I spoke with Purva. The assistant manager, Rajuor, called us back & said he couldn't refund us without the manager's approval, but that he could give us a credit to come back & that he was sorry to hear what had happened. We told him we didn't have the appetite to want to come back after being ill from the food. Rajuor did not say anything about the need for us to go to the doctor & we could have gone to the doctor if he had told us that was the only way to get a refund because we were all still ill at that time. We did not go to the doctor because we did not feel we were dying & just waited for it to pass, although we were all ill & it lasted until Thursday morning. They said the manager was in China & would have to call us back. The manager & I played phone tag & I just spoke with her today, less than a week after the incident. Her name is Poornima. Poornima told us that if we had been to the doctor, we could have proven to her that it was food poisoning, but without going to the doctor, she has no proof that we got sick. She said if we had gone to the doctor & documented it, she could have refunded us. I told her that was poor business etiquette & we were very disappointed. She also tried to tell me that no one else complained that day & that they had served over 100 people with the same foods at their buffet. She completely dismissed what had occurred & wouldn't take any blame, trying to also tell me that it couldn't have been her restaurant's food because some of us started feeling the effects of the contaminated food within 30 minutes of eating & that if it were food poisoning, it would have taken 6 hours for us to feel the effects. I asked her if she is a doctor & she told me she knows this because she works in the healthcare industry. She kept repeating herself & I told her I wasn't going to argue with her anymore. The restaurant also charged us 18% automatic gratuity when we were only 4 people & when my husband paid with the credit card, the machine asked us to leave gratuity again. I feel that is very deceptive & unusual for a party of 4. I mentioned it to Poornima that we were unhappy about that as well & she said they have it in fine print on their menu & lots of restaurants do this. I have never seen a restaurant do that unless it's a large party. When I referred to the 18% as a tip, Poornima made sure to correct me & told me it wasn't a "tip" & that it was "gratuity". She asked us if we were happy with the service & I confirmed that the service from the waitstaff was fine. Although, I am giving 1 service star in my review for the way Poornima dealt with my complaint & the fact that the restaurant charged us automatic gratuity for just 4 people. We do not plan to go back to this restaurant because of the manager's unprofessional reaction to our complaint about getting sick from the food & her outright denial & disbelief of their food causing our illnesses. This was our 3rd & last time going to this restaurant. We spent $153.76 for the 4 of us. I just reviewed their latest food inspection report through VDH, which was done on March 31, 2026. I now see multiple food handling violations, any of which could cause food-borne illnesses. The manager's lack of taking my complaint seriously was concerning. read more

We've tried this place twice (once when they first opened and then again recently) and wanted to love and support it. Here is the thing - the service is really bad. We thought maybe it was just that they were new the first time we went but it was even worse the last time. Plan on waiting a half hour at your table just to place a drink or food order. Then another 20 minutes plus for food. No bread on the table, no drink order taken. Judging from other patrons getting up to place orders and track down servers, our experience wasn't unique. The food was good. We'd love to have a good regular dinner place but we won't come back unless it's for the buffet. Really hoping they figure it out! read more
