    Palak Chicken Curry

Overall, their food was okay for me, they were a little different from Indian food I had tried before. I ordered Chicken Palak, Goan Shrimp Curry and Chicken Vindaloo. They all came with 1 appetizer (samosa) and 1 dessert. Only chicken Palak that I think I was impressive, the rest, tasted seem to mild. Anyway, their menu is quite variety and a lot of selection. As for service, there is nothing to complain. Restaurant is quite spacious and nice decorating. Saffron or Saffron Fine Indian Cuisine is located in Southern Walk Plaza, Ashburn, VA. Large outdoor parking lots are available and free.

Was visiting VA and saw this restaurant with a 4.0 google review ... was a no brainer to pick this restaurant.. it turned out to be disappointment .. First of all, the interiors were good . They had a bar and lots of tables to sit and eat . Pathetic service . We ordered some drinks and even after 15 mins they didn't bring, nor took our order . The guys seemed not too interested in servicing customers. We had to then go ourselves and pick our drinks and bring back . Coming to food .... The guy wasn't able to tell us that there was Thali available . Nor the menu card had in it . He could t answer what's in the Thali etc. food came after 20-30 mins. Chicken 65 was the only thing that was tasty . Really good . Thali was very average . Chicken chettinad was very very average . No spice , no salt , no pepper . It was bland . They got paneer butter masala instead of paneer tikka .. was sweeeet ! Overall a very disappointing visit . Will probably not prefer to go back . 2/5 .. ambience good ..

Saffron is my favorite Indian restaurant in Loudoun. Everything is fresh and flavorful. Although I haven't been to the buffet since before COVID, I recall it being wonderful with many selections and am planning to return soon. The service is attentive and caring. There's easy and ample parking in the shopping center.

    Menu Tandoori chicken

I was overcharged for one item the Tandoori Chicken full size. I was charged $35, but the menu price was $26.

I've had Saffron in Falls Church before and enjoyed my experience there, so I had high expectations for Saffron here. Overall, my friends enjoyed to food we ordered here and the portions were huge. Lots of leftovers for us to take home. Also, check in on Yelp to get 10% off your bill! GARLIC NAAN - 5 Our server asked if we wanted any garlic naan after we made our order and posed the question as if it was complimentary. Well, obviously we said yes, but we were charged for it anyway. Pooey. There's two large pieces of naan with lots of garlic and parsley which made it flavorful. The naan itself was fluffy with a bit of chew which I liked. LAMB KORMA - 20 Super creamy and nutty - this hearty curry really hit the spot for me this Sunday evening as I smeared it on top of my naan and basmati rice. The portion size was huge. There wasn't a lot of lamb pieces (maybe 5-6) and lots of curry. I would prefer a bit more lamb in the curry, but overall still extremely satisfying and comforting. LAMB BIRYANI - 20 Two of us ordered the lamb biryani which had a spicy kick after every bite. We all enjoyed this a lot and the rice was dry and seasoned well. There was a lot of parsley and garnish, and the lamb was flavorful and tender. The biryani has always been my favorite at Saffron. The portion size is huge and you can easily split it into 2-3 meals. CHANNA MASALA - 15 This one was so flavorful. I've never had chick peas curry before but I'm not sure how they made it so creamy and rich. The spice and flavors were delicious and it went well with our carbs. I'm glad my friend ordered this one because it gave me an opportunity to try something new and I enjoyed it! Overall, the food was great and the portion size was large. The interior is nice and clean, and our food came out at a reasonable time.

Prob my 2nd or 3rd fav as far as taste in LC but excellent service gives it an edge! Our server was well-meaning and attentive albeit he handed me an unwrapped straw with his bare hand I thought was unsanitary so I end up not using. I think it's maybe just a cultural thing so it's not a biggie... In comparison, the Naan bread here was flaky and probably slightly overdone but had a nice garlic flavor. I still think the other place had the most perfect garlic Naan, ugh, it sets the standard... The lamb curry my hubby told me had excellent flavor and ate every bit of it over basmati rice & naan. I liked my butter chicken as well but I think the chicken was not as tender as Rupa's or Pind's. Still, flavor was up to par with predecessor competitors... All in all a solid place when in crave for this flair! I would not mind coming back, if a friend asks me to...

    Chicken Lasooni Kabab

Had a great Valentine's Day meal at Saffron. The owner is very attentive to RSVP, even though you just submit a message on their website requesting RSVP. I had the chicken lasooni kabob, very flavorful thighs, so much I had enough for lunch the next day. Wife got Goan shrimp curry. Gobi Manchurian cauliflower was like a buffalo style cauliflower, but better! Very attentive service, but they wait for you to ask for the check.

The samosas were prepared much better than I expected. The entire cuisine, service, and environment were beyond my expectations. I definitely will be coming back and I recommend everyone to try out the food here. There are vegetarian options as well.

Thali lunch special (Indian platter of several different dishes).

Being Indian myself, I'm a little iffy about eating Indian food out. Part of me feels like I can just cook it at home, while the other part of me feels like it won't be authentic. Nonetheless, I decided to take a chance on Saffron after hearing that they had an amazing lunch special. A huge thali for either $15 or $17. Let me start by saying it is SO much food. Truly a deal! The owners are so sweet and attentive and handle all my chutney requests and substitutes effortlessly! I typically get the non vegetarian option and sub out the lamb for an extra chicken dish. The thali is chefs choice, so whatever they choose to make that day. I usually will ask ahead of time what's on the menu for their lunch special and then decide if I want to go full veggie or not. My favorites are the murgh makhani (also known as Butter Chicken), saag paneer (spinach and other greens), and chicken korma (yogurt, nut based cream sauce). In addition they give you a little appetizer (samosa, aloo tikki, etc), plus rice, naan, raita, pickle, veggie salad, and a dessert! It's always a fun surprise to see what dessert they give you. I pray for gulab jamun or rasmalai. Pro tip: They have little containers to take each item to go if you're stuck with leftovers, which I usually am.

Saffron is the best Indian restaurant in Ashburn, maybe all of NoVa. My family and I have been going to Saffron for almost a decade and would go very frequently in the past. Unfortunately due to covid we have taken a hiatus for the last 3 year and this was our first time returning. To our pleasant surprise the quality and taste of the food was just as good as we remembered! The service is very personable as it has always been and in addition to an attentive waiter, the manager came to check on us a couple times too! They even offered me a free dessert for my birthday, but I was too full from the dinner so I had to decline The curries here are delicious and the portion sizes are huge. Eating family-style and accounting 1 curry per 2 people is the best way to dine here! The naan is also great, not too chewy and has a good crisp (highly recommend trying the bullet naan) The only con of this restaurant is that it is kind of small so if there is another big party there, it gets pretty loud which can be a nuisance.

This place is decent Indian food, but there are better places with better value. Nice ambiance though, if you're planning on eating in.

They do a weekend buffet and ensure that they have fresh, new, creative appetizers and dishes every time. 2) Something for everyone - northern dishes, southern dishes; a great selection for the first timers and spice or curry phobes. 3) Okra, spinach and red kidney beans ( 3 separate dishes today) prepared like I/all of us have never tasted before. 4) Amazing, pro active and very polite staff. The owner is so hands on and ensures all is well. 5) Ample room for big groups and parties. Last time I was here with a group of 10 was on Saturday 8/19/23 ( old Yelp photo) and everyone enjoyed themselves. 6) Great and relaxed atmosphere. The decor is just gorgeous with items and fixtures imported from 7700 miles east of Virginia. 7) 2 old school and just gorgeous desserts today - the rice pudding loaded with raisins and cashews plus the mini donut balls in syrup. 8) My mother came to visit me in 2022 and loved this restaurant ( old Yelp photo) and the service. In fact we were here twice during her birthday week celebrating in August wow 18 months ago. 9) Clean and spotless. The staff is on the ball. 10) A refreshing change from the 15 Indian restaurants in Herndon 10 miles away, all with food that tastes the same.

The bar area is big and spacious, and usually sitting at the bar means better, more attentive service. The place was mildly busy, so I expected things to run smoothly -- but that wasn't the case. Right from the start, the bartender wasn't very attentive. We had to ask multiple times just to place our order. For appetizers, we tried the Goat Buttan and the Wild Boar -- we wanted to explore some of the unique delicacies on the menu. Both dishes were interesting, and the Goat Buttan and Wild Boar were actually pretty solid. Unfortunately, the service continued to be an issue. We had to flag the bartender again just to order our entrées and even for simple water refills. We ordered the Mutton Taas and the Yak Chili. The Yak Chili was very good, but the Mutton Taas was extremely dry -- like eating cardboard -- and lacked flavor. Throughout the night, our bartender was constantly absent. More than once, we had to ask another bartender to get his attention so we could get basic service. After finishing our meal, we ordered a dessert, the Gulab Jamun. The presentation looked nothing like the picture -- more like a sloppy drop of pudding -- and the taste was just as disappointing. And again, we had to flag down another bartender because ours was nowhere to be found. Service overall was lackluster, and the tip options started at 20% with no 18% choice. For the level of service we received, 15% would have been more appropriate. I won't be returning anytime soon unless I'm specifically craving their unique delicacies -- which is once in a blue moon.
