    Meatloaf Sandwich and Broccoli Salad
    Sarah S.

My husband and I have been excited to try Deli on the Square and we were finally in Carrollton on a Friday for the meatloaf sandwich special. This little downtown deli is a must try if you were in the area. Even if you are not in the area and have the time to drive down and try the meatloaf special along with any of their other sandwich options, we highly recommend. Any of their sandwiches can be made into a wrap. Hence you will see the Italian on a wrap on my plate. We also tried the broccoli salad, which was amazing as well as a vegetable soup, which was great with depth of flavor. Service was great and everyone was friendly. If you're looking for a spot to relax for a few minutes and enjoy the vibes of downtown Carrollton, this is where to do it . Enjoy!

Turkey & Smoked Gouda Sub with Potato Cheese Soup... yum!

What a cute Mom & Pop place! The owner is so friendly and so helpful, and the food was so very delicious. I had 1/2 of a Turkey and Smoked Gouda sub with potato cheese soup. Everything is homemade here, the sub bread was fresh and perfect for the sandwich. The potato cheese soup had big chunks of potato and the cheese wasn't overpowering. My husband had the Meatball Sub and some coleslaw, and both were delicious. He said it was the best meatball sub he has ever had! And the coleslaw was light and so tasty. Since you walk up to order, we didn't have a waitress, but all the staff was so friendly and accommodating. If you are in the area, make sure you stop by and try this place, you can't go wrong!

You can tell they care about their product. Donna is a gracious host.

If you want a unique but traditional afternoon tea experience, you need to visit The Van Horne!…read more Their food is all locally sourced, and I am sure all delicious. I had their potato soup, which was incredible, the steamed broccoli with cheese which was good, and the Tea for Two with a friend. We got to try their day-old strawberry scones and their raspberry scones of the day (which, by the way, I would not have know which was old and which was not if we hadn't been told). Each of us got to choose 3 sandwiches, which I have not experienced before but appreciated, and I enjoyed all 3 of my cucumber sandwiches. We also each got to choose our own quiche slice from the two daily flavors. I really did appreciate how each person could get exactly what they wanted while still having a full tea experience. The nut rolls and Mexican wedding cookies were also yummy and I wish I could have had more. Each of us got to choose our own tea as well, which is pretty typical, although not every place allows that. They had a huge menu to choose from, and the best part is that you can also order any of their teas to go in a tin to make your own at home. They even have some more unique flavors, such as some oolong varieties. The service is a bit slow, but everyone, from the owners to the servers, is so sweet, so you can't really complain. We had Emma as our server and she did not steer us wrong with recommendations we asked for and was able to tell us all about what we were getting. She is such a joy and in a great role. The ambiance is also unique. It feels like you are either in an antique store or old Victorian house. It really does look like an afternoon tea place. You do need a reservation, especially on a weekend. The space isn't huge and they do not have a huge staff, and you can tell they like to make sure they are prepared so it can be a relaxing, special experience, whether having tea or anything else they offer. I would recommend making a trip out here, and this is a definite stop any time I am in the area moving forward!

Our server told us the specials of the day and told us about the tea. The restaurant is decorated so cute. Old fashioned and fun. We ordered the afternoon tea for 2. We had 3 half croissants each half a large scone each and a small piece of quiche. There were a few cookies and fruit on the tier also. We ordered the Chinese Keemun tea. It was delicious. We also had a cup of potato soup as a starter. The lovely owner came over to check in. She is so sweet. We will definitely be returning for another meal.

We typically patronized this location at least once or twice a week, so we have noticed a steady stream of new employees through the years. This latest crew was overtly rude when we arrived to pick up our online order. Apparently, FOR ONCE they were able to make our sandwiches immediately and the worker felt it necessary to remark that they'd been ready for an hour. Last week, we ended up waiting 40 minutes for our order because 7 customers walked in right before us!) Don't know what the woman's problem is, but her nasty attitude kept us from leaving a cash tip as we ordinarily do! I guess we were keeping her from her smoke break out in front of the restaurant, which is where we usually see her this time of the evening! Surely slapping meat, cheese, and some salad on bread can't be that stressful!
