This Deli is ok for other delights and their staff is quick to get your order done. BUT the breakfast sandwich is dead! No fluffy eggs, tasteless bagel and straw-like bacon. My recent experience on 2/5/21 had me experience how another patron after me had purchased two bottles of wine, and was offered a plastic bag, no charge. My items were given to me, I asked nicely if I may please have a plastic bag, and the cashier told me it was $0.25 for a bag. Other stores usually charge a nickel or dime, yet I wasn't even offered a bag when I was paying for my items. Yet the other individual who purchased the wine happened to be of the same ethnicity, was offered a bag at no charge, I felt embarrassed and insulted I was not given the same courtesy. I'm going back and forth between a 3 and a 4 star rating. Can I say 3.5? There are pros and cons to Deli Plus, the 24/7 one-stop-shop deli convenience store inside the Journal Square Transportation Center. It's one flight up from the PATH train platforms and one flight down from the bus terminals. There are two entrances - one closer to the PATH escalators and the one closer to the Summit Avenue JSQ Transportation Center entrance (that circular ramp). Deli Plus sprawls a good amount of space. On one side is the store section, where the cold cases and grocery/convenience items are stocked. I've walked through here once. Like many stores in a transportation hub, the prices aren't competitive; they are a bit expensive. However, they sell a varied selection of products, so if you are in a jam, they may have what you need. I go mostly to the deli side, as probably most people do. There are many options from which to choose, but they vary in degree of tastiness. I'll admit right now that I've never had the hot bar food, so I can't attest to anything offered there. I have a food budget during the work week, so the prices for the hot bar are a little too steep for me. The selection looks fine though. Here are the items that I order -or have ordered - that I think are not bad/pretty good: - Pizza slices (plain, eggplant/ricotta cheese, spinach/ricotta cheese, buffalo chicken) - Make-your-own-salad salad - Veggie burger deluxe with fries - Any of the soups are good - Egg sandwiches during breakfast time - Home fries Also, for the junk food aficionados, lined in front of the deli counters are racks of chips galore. There's a varied selection of Herr's snacks and other bagged, high-sodium goodies. There are a number of cold cases with drinks on this side of the Deli Plus. I usually need to order to-go, but there are a number of tables where you can eat if that's what you want to do. My one tip is that, if you go, try to time it so that you do not order during the meal hour rush. While normally service is fast, there have been times when I've waited a little too long for my order. Like, I'll have placed my order way before any one else, but I'll be the last person to receive my order. Sometimes these things happen, but try to hedge your bets by timing it if you are under time constraints and need to bring food back to an office or catch a bus or train. read more

The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is for the convenience since it is right off the Journal Square path station. Many times when I have stepped in, I often have had to deal with bad attitudes from the employees. Just today I had to deal with a cashier for giving an attitude because I didn't provide her with the right amount of change (even though the amount she originally stated was what I gave her). The few times I've taken the PATH train, I realize there isn't really good food around their PATH train stations. UGH. I had to go to the Journal Square PATH station for training classes in a building upstairs. The closest food/deli store was Deli Plus. I walked outside the station first and realized there is nothing by this PATH station. That's awful. There are so many people taking this train and this area needs better food choices. I had the chicken salad wrap which was eeeh. I asked for chicken noodle soup and I got minestrone instead. But to my surprise the minestrone soup was good. On my way to work I get off the PATH in JSQ and cut through here. Sometimes, I need a little bit of a boost...so, for 99 cents, I grab an egg on a roll. Now...I try not to do this more than 3 times a week...carbs...but for 99 cents + I get 4 hours of sleep a day = Not thinking clearly at 6 AM. I would order it every other day a few months ago...and then one day...one of the NJ Transit workers told me I could get salt and pepper on it for no extra cost! The employees and managers are crooks and stole $10 from my mother. They rolled up her change purposely and gave her a half bill and closed the register quickly. When the manager was confronted he said he would look at the cameras. Nothing was done. When we took the bill to the bank they could not accept it because it was too damaged. I placed an order for delivery... French toast, sausage, 2 eggs sunny side up. 45 mins later, I get a call confirming my address. (I'm on a main street that everyone should know, not to mention I'm less than 3 blocks away from the restaurant) another 15 mins pass, finally the manager and the delivery person show up. For a small mixed green salad, 4 toppings, with dressing will cost $8.50, but does come with your choice of soup (beef n' barley, cream of broccoli and chicken nooe) with a nice crusty sesame bread. Nothing fancy really but it sure serves basic purposes when you are going to and fro your destinations using public transpo. I don't think it would be possible to have a 24 hour business and have everything be perfect. All I can say is I come here a lot. I mean at minimum 2-3 days weekly. The staff is friendly and to me that is number one in any business. Some food items are better then others. You just have to try and see. I can tell you. This morning there was another woman at the register right where you enter from the plaza side. She was being flirted with and enjoying it. I walked over to ask if I could order my coffee there, but she was so way into her flirt that she could barely register that I was there; like, she started to try and answer but he kept her attention. So I went to the other register, and lovely Lady took my coffee order and "Oscar" put a small on the counter. I realized my mistake and apologized and asked for a large "Light". Overpriced since it's right in the path station. But super convenient. Definitely don't buy alcohol here. It's marked way up. Go to the liquor store down the street and pay half the price. They make good breakfast sandwiches and are open on weekends. One of the better options with all the fast food chains around.
