Any other old-timers out there remember how revolutionary the fax machine was when it was first introduced? With that continuous roll of thermal paper (and the ink would eventually fade on the fax you'd received)? Now they're obsolete. Relics from yesteryear that my own kids wouldn't even have a clue about. The only reason I know about this salumeria? They (still) fax their daily specials to our office and it always looks pretty darn enticing. Two visits spaced a few years apart and... it's a decent deli, but for such a massive space it sure feels like they don't have enough. On my most recent visit I'd asked for hot sausage and they seemed almost confused and pushed soppressata instead. (Maybe that's my fault that I'm coming too early before they have a chance to fill up the cases?) There's a big "Tavola Calda" for the hot (prepared) meals/specials (that they hype up via their daily faxes). People behind the counter are friendly. Parking lot in the back. Decent pricing. In the center there's plenty of tables (I'm not sure if it's technically a 'restaurant' as well?). On my initial visit the lot across the street was completely empty/barren/abandoned. My most recent visit there's the foundation and frame to a massive 500-capacity building. (The next time I'll make my way here - that new complex will surely be filled to the brim with tenants.) And yes... when you're paying at the counter look to the right and you'll see their most lovely deluxe fax machine standing at the ready to get the word out! read more

Early hours only, they close in the afternoon. A huge variety of (charmingly named for local streets) sandwiches on excellent Italian bread. They also offer delicious cannolis in 2 sizes. Plus they offer an array of Italian imports for purchase. A small parking lot is available in the midst of the big construction project. It's a quick turnover so there's always a few spots available. My coworker has rave about this restaurant and deli on more than one occasion and even brought me a sandwich from here, it was delicious. We decided to order lunch as a group yesterday and I placed the order and did pick up. Being a New Yorker, I love a good Italian deli and this one did not disappoint! the decor makes you feel like you're somewhere in Brooklyn. The brick walls, the warm service, the Italian/ Brooklyn accents of the wonderful women at the counter. The courteous service, all give credit to my coworkers high praise of this place. The sandwiches were delicious. I ordered the #13 Van Winkle: Pastrami, Swiss Cheese, Sauerkraut & Dijon Mustard panini, so good! One coworker had the #7 Bergen: Ham, Salami, Provolone, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Onions & Balsamic Vinaigrette. And the other had the #9 Pulaski: Chicken Cutlet, Swiss, lettuce, Tomatoes & Chipotle Mayo. I recently ordered a 2 foot hero for my birthday. The price was pretty steep, cost me about $45. However, the Newark and the Westside were phenomenal sandwiches. The bread is top quality bread and kept the meat and veggies together. The pesto has so much flavor. The mozz ? Smooth! Customer service was great, i ordered via phone. I arrived on thr date and time to pick up and the hero was wrapped beautifully and waiting for me. They even gave me utensils and tongs for people to use. I would order from them again. read more

One of the best vegan sandwiches I've had and it was literally just veggies and bread. BUT lemme tell youuuuu, their bread is perfectly crispy yet soft, and their grilled veggies are flavorful, perfectly cooked with a bite. This place is SO unassuming. You walk in and immediately you're transported to Italy. This is definitely a solid neighborhood spot and one of my favorite sandwich spots. A hidden hem in Jersey City (close to journal square PATH)! I recommend this place to everyone. They have parking, which that alone makes me love them. This is my favorite Italian Deli in JC. The different variety of food everyday gives you so many options. Natale ventured into making fresh mozzarella.... it is the absolute best!! He has perfected it. You really need to try it if you haven't already. We get one every week to eat at home. I have tried numerous dishes, soups and sandwiches ( pork loin with broccoli rabe and provolone and the "Vinny" fried chicken cutlet with mozzarella and long hots!! My 2 favorites ) They are very accommodating and will make changes if they have the ingredients. The service is excellent and all the workers are very friendly. There's two places to order depending on what you want. There's a section for ordering sandwiches and then a section for ordering fresh Italian entrees. The place is absolutely spotless and the cases with prepared salads and cold cuts are truly immaculate. They seem to have a steady and loyal following of cops, city employees and hard hat types who are regulars and the food for the price is really a great deal. I had the shrimp dish which was excellent as well as the soups and they have a large seating area. This place also services funeral luncheons and parties too what I could tell with nice space in the back. The food is excellent and the hot food is really well done. It's at the tip of West Side Ave, a dead end street after Broadway, next to the PATH tracks. There it lays like a little piece of deli heaven. When you enter, the space is from a Soprano's episode. High ceilings, spacious areas to sit. Manager's office on the left. Pick up a menu and specials on the right hand area. Sandwiches and panini named after local streets. Choosing is the hardest part. On this cold morning, I wanted a hot sandwich but they didn't have bread. I ordered the medium Tonnele. Fresh ingredients, tender bread, cheese stinky (good thing), just enough mayo. Excellent authentic Italian deli in Jersey City! As soon as you walk inside, you realize this isn't just any old deli. They've done a great job with the ambiance of this place which let's you feel like you've escaped JC and walked into an Italian Marketplace. (Pics below) There is ample open seating. The place opens early enough for brunch and lunch. They accept credit cards. There is free parking out front on the dead end street and in the adjoining Puccini's lot. The food is excellent. We had 2 of their local inspired sandwiches. We will definitely return to try more in the near future. Wow. What a nice looking Italian deli. It's located on the dead end behind Puccini's restaurant. I remember hearing about this place opening but never came by to try it. I went in today and felt like a regular. Everyone was very friendly. The place looks like it's owned by the Puccini restaurant people, the guy behind the counter had a Puccini chef jacket on....kind of gave it away. It is a large space with a lot of tables for eat-in. It looks as if they serve liquor, or at least beer and wine. They had hot specials and a full deli. They also had an assortment of olives and prepared items. I had the grilled sausage with broccoli Rabe and pasta with peas on the side. It came with a piece of Italian bread. I also bought a soda. Total= 9.75. A little pricier then some delis, but the quality factor was high. Definitely want to go back for more when I am back in the area. read more

Their pasta fagiole is so good that you have to get there early to insure you get some before it sells out. The hot food is good, but I love love love the sandwiches.
