Large Mangonada
Rachel A.

I'd been craving a Mangonada for a few days and boy did this place hit the spot! My beverage was sweet, salty, spicy and full of mangoes! What else can you ask for? My friend got a yogurt and it was chock full of fresh fruit, too. I will definitely be coming back again!

Updating this review! My latest visit was even tastier than the last and the staff was extremely friendly. If it's your first visit, might I suggest ordering the mangonada with mango sorbet, chunks of mango, chamoy spread throughout and a tamarind straw. There's so much flavor to this dessert (I'm a sucker for the sweet/spicy/salty flavor combination). Enjoy!

mangollada

Delicias Jalisco is a local ice cream shop right off of 38th Street. I decided on visiting here after seeing a picture of their mangollada on a friend's Snapchat story. This mango sorbet is topped with fresh mango, tajin and chamoy sauce. Just writing about it makes my mouth water all over again. On of my friends accompanied me on this visit. Walking into the shop, we viewed the menu largely printed on the wall with ease. It was safe to assume that many of the items were freshly made just by looking through the items--that, and the large piles of fruit that were behind the counter confirmed my suspicions. I really appreciated the pictures next to the text because I like to see what I'm getting into before ordering. My friend noted that the menu was easy to read because each Hispanic food had an English translation right next to it. I got the mangollada without hesitation because I am a sucker for the mango and tajin combo, and my friend ordered an oreo paleta. Paletas are a Mexican frozen treat that are very similar to popsicles, but they are made with whole ingredients, such as fresh fruit or desserts. We decided to sit inside to eat our frozen treats because we didn't want them to melt on our drive. Plus, we were just really excited to try what we ordered. I found the mangollada to be just as good as I anticipated--sweet with the perfect level of spicy. The mango sorbet was a little sweeter than I expected it to be, but each bite incorporated some spice due to the generously added tajin and chamoy sauce. The balance between flavors was perfect. I really enjoyed the tamarind covered straw at the end because it tasted just like Pulparindo candy. It was like the cherry on top for my tastebuds. I found the $5 price to be reasonable for this unique drink, so I was happy with my purchase. Delicias Jalisco also serves tortas, hotdogs, fresh fruit juice, fruit smoothies and milkshakes. My friend and I just wanted a quick fix of dessert during our visit, but I would happily stop in again to try their food.

Fresas con crema

My strawberry/banana fruit smoothie (licuado de frutas) was just ok...portion size made it a good value at $3.75, but nothing to make me rave about. My son got a papaya smoothie & wasn't impressed so he got a fresas con crema (strawberries & cream) & liked it far better. Lots of adventurous ice cream flavors in addition to the traditional ones. Use Google translator to help you figure out all the flavor options since some are only marked in Spanish.

Mangollada & Limollada.

Type in "desserts" on the Yelp app while on 38th street, and you'll find that the options outside of Dairy Queen are slim. With all of the awesome international options on the west side, where does one turn for an international sweet tooth fixing? I now have the answer: Delicias Jalisco. Walk into this unassuming shop in a generic strip mall, and you will be surprised at the variety of the ice cream flavors inside. All of them are written in Spanish, so make sure you have a translator handy for those of you whose mother made you take Latin in high school. You'll find your standard strawberry ice cream but also more exotic flavors like tequila. Continue your walk down the counter, and you'll see traditional paletas (not popsicles from Nicey Treat) stacked one on top of the other. All of these sugary sights were delightful to see, no doubt, but I was most enticed by the acclaimed mangollada, a popular dessert drink made with chamoy sauce, mango chunks, mango sorbet, lime juice, and chili powder with a tamarind straw. The mangollada was weird and wonderful. When you sip on the drink, you're hit with sweet, sour, and spice all at the same time. My frazzled taste buds kind of gave up on me about halfway through in trying to decipher all of strong flavors, yet I still found it very refreshing. If you're not an adventuresome drinker, then this cup of crazy-good isn't for you. I know I'm coming back to Delicias Jalisco on my next trip down W. 38th St. for sure, as I need to try the tequila ice cream and a paleta or two. Join me, Yelpers!

I have been wanting to try a mangonada ever since I started yelping a couple years ago and finally on a trip to the big city I was able to find a spot to get one! This place has a nice sized parking lot that is shared with several other businesses in the strip mall where it is located. As you walk in you just get a sense of all the wonderful things that are offered here. There are colorful photos all over the walls and you can see a large case with several different types of ice creams etc. They do have a few booths and tables where you can sit and enjoy your treat if you so choose however I was on a time crunch so I opted to take mine to go. The ordering was fairly simple, I just chose what I wanted and the size and within a minute or two I had my treat in my hands. The fruit was delicious and the mango sorbet was sweet with just the right amount of sour and add to that the tajin and chamoy added the spice it needed to tie it all together. I cannot wait to return and do it all over again!

I specifically visited Delicias Jalisco for the mangonada, since it looked to be the perfect dessert for me...spicy, sour, not too sweet..mango! Like a previous reviewer noted, a mangonada is a delicious frozen treat of mango, chile, and a tamarind-chile straw. Delicias Jalisco's version is pretty authentic (not just chile powder sprinkled on mango ice cream): it consisted of mango sorbet mixed with semi-frozen mango chunks, the bright red chamoy sauce (sweet & sour chili sauce made of apricot, tamarind & chili powder), and a little chile salt sprinkled on top. I thought the price point (around $5) was reasonable for such a fantastic unique treat and the portion size was huge. I could lie and say I'll try other menu items in future visits, but the mangonada is just too perfect, my dessert soulmate. This location is not too huge, with probably 6-7 tables. I visited on a Saturday around 2:00 PM and it was pretty full. The menu is almost entirely in Spanish, but if you aren't familiar with the language, there are pictures and the friendly staff can assist you. Put down that boring waffle cone of vanilla or rocky road, and visit Delicias Jalisco to expand your tastebuds' horizons...mangonada!

This place is much Better than the other dessert Mexican spot "La Michocana" or whatever it is. This place is cleaner, more friendly, and has a real menu posted up with the prices. They actually have someone here who spoke English and could help us figure out what to order. We got what everyone else in the reviews were raving about and it was awesome and worth it. We got a small/regular size but it was more than enough. They give you so much in the small, it's hard to finish it! Money well spent. We will be back!

First time stopping here, and first time trying a mangollada. The shop is small and clean. It's decorated in bright colors with pictures of the treats they offer. My mangollada was refreshing and just what I wanted on this spring afternoon. The mango and spices were just right for a sweet, flavorful smoothie. The staff was friendly and helpful. I got to meet the owner while I was there. He was very nice. I look forward to returning to sample more of the treats they offer.

Mangonada- Sweet, salty, spicy, cold and refreshing. Saved most of the straw to last. Could easily share this.

Delicias Jalisco is tucked away in a strip mall behind Saigion resturant facing Georgetown Road. Turn east into parking lot between Papa John's & Saigion. You'll find a large selection of desserts, smoothies and drinks here. The prices are reasonable and service is reasonably fast. Your options range from pre-made frozen desserts to regular or waffle cones & ice cream. They try to keep a few Mangolladas made ahead, especially on Sundays, to stay in front of the crowd. As others have mentioned seating is an issue. Most have to get carry out unless your patient waiting for a table. Perfect spot on a hot summer day or take it home to enjoy while your wrapped in a blanket by the fire. A Mangollada (see pix) is a frozen Mexican dessert made with frozen mango/slushy consistency and topped with chamoy sauce which is a sweet and spicy sauce made from apricots and chili powder (Tajin). The treat here is the straw is rolled in lime juice, salt and Tajin seasoning and frozen. Yum!!! Served with a spoon and straw.

I was on the hunt for some place new. I drove around town and came across a strip plaza on N. Michigan Rd. This particular area of Indianapolis is not necessarily the most appealing but I saw a "GRAND OPENING" sign and decided, spite my instincts, to give it a try. Delicias Jalisco is the name of the eatery. The one I went to is located at 7940 N. Michigan Rd Suite #10. The window decals make it obvious that this place has sandwiches, fresh fruit, and desserts. Upon entering, the interior struck me as pleasantly surprised. The Latino music is refreshing and fills the air, the menu wraps around the back wall and is colorful and appealing. It is not tacky, but well done. Delicias Jalisco has a welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to dine-in rather than take-out... Which is exactly what I did! The lady who greeted me at the register was friendly and helped me tremendously when I told her it was my first time. The food options are limited to hot dogs and tortas (sandwiches). I had the Tortas Jamon (ham sandwich) and a Fresas con Crema with Choco Sprinkles. It is literally just that -- strawberries with cream, topped with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles. It was all so simple, but so good! The service was wonderful. Delicias Jalisco is not a place where you have a server constantly waiting on you, rather one person takes your order, another makes your order, and another brings it to you. It is a café/dessert style place so little interaction is needed. I was greeted with a smile, assisted throughout the entire ordering process, and recognized as I was leaving. Along with the staff, the food was great as well. Like the desert I had, the sandwich was simple, but had great taste. It was warm throughout and was large enough for me to take some home. I will definitely be back to test out more of the dessert options in the future!! 5 stars!

I first visited Delicias Jalisco in August of last year, my friends took me and I was quite pleased. There are many options on the menu; I could not decide what to get. It varies from desserts, drinks, chips, ice cream, etc. It is great to visit during the summer. THE only thing I do not like is that there is not enough chairs and tables. There is limited place for people to sit and enjoy their food. I've been to the store a few times and the last time I went, it was around 7 so I thought there would be no one there but it was very busy. My friends and I could not find anywhere to sit so we stood until a table was cleared. We actually decided to leave because more people kept coming. Everything else is great though: the food is delicious and the employees are always nice. You can also see how the employees prepare the food. It's interesting to look at.

Elote ice cream - que delicioso.
Kati G.

I stopped in here in a recent trip through the Lafayette Square area. Thank you, other Yelpers, for the tip. This place is great! Lots of tasty looking ice cream flavors. I chose the elote ice cream, which is a sweet corn flavor. So good! I practiced my Spanish, but the woman who assisted me spoke perfect English too. Next time you want ice cream, check out this little shop.

The ambiance of the place clean, smells very healthy, the staff are always very friendly and helpful. To, my surprise the smoothie was actually good to me. Mind, you I can't eat bananas by itself due the smell makes me gag, and I haven't ate a banana in many years. I would highly recommend the Mocha Chiquita smoothie. Then, around 3:30 in the afternoon I went back up to Georgetown Market Cafe for the Vegan mac and cheese, to me that was just okay.
