The workers did not speak to me at all, which was kind of strange, but they were not rude or anything. As if I could live this place more- I took my toddler for the first time over the weekend and he LOVED it. From the tray and tongs to pick out treats to the colorful pastry displays, it's a party for the senses. We ended up snagging tamales (so moist and wonderful) buñeulos, queso tarts, a cookie and some delicious hot champurrado. The champurrado seemed to be the star of the show that morning as folks grabbed pastries and drinks for the road. The drink featured chocolate, masa, milk and spices- it's thick, hearty and so comforting. After eating lunch, I had a doctor's appointment in the area. While I was waiting I did a search on Yelp for dessert and found this place. This is large store for this type of product. The cases lining the walls seemed endless of product. It took awhile to browse through all of the selections. As noted by other reviewers the lack of labels and prices can be challenging, however the pricing is on the low end and not really a concern. My entire platter of seven items only cost me $11. My only need for labels would be to know what the filling inside is, if any. My favorite were the Bavarian cream filled pastries. I like how they place the filling inside. They do it differently than traditional donut places so as not to overwhelm the pastry with filling, only to compliment the dough. The pound cake I tried was wonderful. It was moist while not being too heavy. I should have picked up two pieces and tried some of the other cake choices. read more

I had heard great things about Mama Ines' Bakery and thought I'd check it out. It's quite expansive and has a beautiful interior. Certainly a lot of recognizable staples plus a few pastries I hadn't seen before! I decided to try a slice of the Tres Leches and then also (not pictured) a chocolate cupcake. Unfortunately both items were quite dry (which is especially surprising for the Tres Leches since that's usually extremely moist). Worth the trip to the Westside. Period. That's all. Now go. Need more reasons? You can choose from cases of fresh baked foods or get in the big wagon near the front door to score "yesterday's bread" at a huge discount. Did I mention the extensive selection of fresh baked goods in cases lining the walls? Breads, cookies, pastries, tres leches cake in the cooler ... and they also have fresh, hot, delicious tamales for around $1 if you arrive in time to snatch them up (red and green chicken and pork and a cheese/jalapeño option). Don't forget to grab a REAL coke or Topo Chico to wash it all down. Pro tip: walk in and use the provided hand sanitizer on the front counter IMMEDIATELY. A lovely staff member will then hand you your silver tray and tongs. Shop the cases, opening the glass and oogling, then take your tray to the register. Items are so reasonably priced and delicious. This is such a wonderful bakery with many, many options of bread and pastries. It is just so fun browsing around, and it was difficult for me to decide what to get. I knew I would only need two pieces or so but I ended up buying 5 items because I wanted to try everything. The only thing that's missing but would help customers a lot IMO is product names and prices. Many items did not have any name or description. The ones with labels, most of them are written in Spanish only. As I only identified few Spanish words like leche, manzana, I just had to guess whether the bread im getting is sweet or savory , what kind of filling etc. once they put descriptions and prices, shopping there will be an even better experience for all customer for sure. read more

this place is simply amazing. if you like a good bakery with great pastries, you must add this place to your list! Very unassuming from the outside, it's just a glass door in a strip mall. But once you get in, you're surrounded by dozens of display cabinets full of different pastries. Their pastries even passed the test of my Mexican wife with flying colors! I go to Indy often for work, and I always make sure to stop by Mama Ines. The only note is that most of the staff that I have interacted with speaks mostly/only Spanish, so don't expect to have too many interactions if you only speak English. I love this place!!!! I had never been to this type of bakery, so for those who don't know. You grab a silver plate when you walk in and then you use the tongs to grab what you want out of those cases and then they check you out! I've been wanting to try this place for a while, but just hadn't made it until this past Saturday. Fortunately, it's close to my home because I'm hooked. We got an assortment of bollilo, talera, pan con chili y queso, and about a half a dozen other things. The sandwich rolls, bollilo and talera were very good and fresh. The pan con chili y queso, which is a sesame seed topped bread stuffed with cream cheese and jalapeños is wonderful. They have many more sweets and donuts that we'll be trying I. The future, as well as, hand made tamales. The staff was friendly, the prices are very reasonable, and the store is immaculate. We highly recommend it. I came for the Tres Leches cake , and was not disappointed! The 3 milk cake was delicious and moist, not too sweet and had a strawberry filing. All of the cakes in the case were tres leches with various fillings, sizes, decoration and price point. My cake was about $34 and I think it was one of the less expensive ones. My brother said that it was his new favorite cake! And it looked amazing. I was also very happy with the tamales. They are in bags in the coolers on the right and for $3.50 you get 5 tasty tamales! What a deal. I also got some fresh baked bread. I really enjoyed everything I got. Although all signage was in Spanish, the person who was checking out spoke English. Hands down, THE. BEST. PAN. DULCE. in town. My dad used to make pan dulce in Mexico so I grew up eating it and this is the best place to get it in town. The prices are a little bit more expensive than other bakeries but the flavor profile is also better. The smell draws you in from outside and they have everything your heart desires. It was nighttime outside, so I think that the contrast of the colors was enhanced as much as possible because my eyes were used to the dark. But still, it was amazing. The cases are lit up very well, the colors of the pastries and decor are fun and exciting, and the overall atmosphere works perfectly. They have breads, pastries, desserts, Mexican sodas, cake pops, cookies, donuts, and so many other things I didn't get a chance to check out. Simple, cheap, DELICIOUS. Their cornbread is the stuff of dreams - moist, flavorful, just a hint of sweetness. They also make a perfect tres leches cake. It wasn't too busy so we were able freely walk around and window shop. You start by picking up a tray and things to select your items. All of the items are listed in Spanish and priced very reasonable. If you are using a card there is a $5 minimum. In addition to sweet treats they sell bread and tamales. This full service bakery has a large variety of pastries, both Mexican and traditional American. There is plenty of parking in the lot for this business at the end of a strip. Once you walk in, you will see walls of display cases filled with assorted pastries and cookies that don't run out early. Making selections is self-serve, so you should pick up a large metal platter and pair of tongs near the entrance to take with you as you move around the store. I picked up a mix including double flavored danish, strudels, churros, and some crispy versions of twists and elephant ears. My wife loves the crispy styles and is already planning our next visit. When I made my selections, I took them to the central counter and was pleasantly surprised how affordable they were. The staff was friendly and had offered to help if I had any questions. Mama Ine's is a 5 star Mexican bakery that is no longer a westside secret. Once you visit you'll find yourself returning often during the week. Well worth the drive if you're not a westsider but just minutes off of I-65 and West 38th Street. Terrific variety, friendly employees and affordable. The flan is rich, creamy with a light caramel flavor and has become an addiction for me. Very easy to pop in and grab dessert for dinner or a quick snack. As we entered my first thought was this place sparkles, is immuculate and well organized. The well lite cases makes for easy viewing of all the amazing cookies, breads, pastries, cake balls, flans and cakes. The variety is amazing with several decadent desserts, large assortment of cookies, breads and phenomenal custom cakes. There is truly something for everyone. Grab a siver platter and tongs as you enter then begin filling with yummy treats. Take a moment to enjoy the amazing cake displays in the windows. Completely overwhelmed and not knowing the protocol (I was the only one there AT THAT TIME) I spoke with one of the women and complemented the beautiful, clean bakery. She explained that I should get a tray and tongs to gather my selections. By the time she finished her explanation the bakery was filled with customers with filling trays! Still overwhelmed I went around and around the displays wide-eyed before making my selections.Most items were larger than I could possibly consume I did purchase smaller cookies, chocolate covered strawberries and a package of their $2.00 bread. Besides my bakery choices I tried the TAMALES WOW they were DELICIOUS with a nice KICK to them. Great new addition to Indy' s Westside. This has been bookmarked for months, and I finally made it here. Space is large, clean, and tastefully decorated. Most signs and words are in Spanish, but I was able to translate the majority. I do wish they had signs identifying each treat that they offered because I had no idea on some items. Although, it is slightly fun to just picks items that look good because it builds the anticipation to when you're finally tasting. I got 4 four treats including a churro, and a chicken tamale for just over $5. Very inexpensive. I didn't see any prices listed so I had no clue what to expect at the register.
