I don't know how it happened but feel like I've become such a big ice cream fan lately. I think one of my biggest pet peeves is going into an ice cream store and walking out with a small scoop of average ice cream that costs as much an entire tub you can get at the grocery store. This is NOT the case here!!! They handmake not only their ice cream, but their popsicles, drinks, and food here all at more than affordable prices. Walking in, this shop offers so many different things but their speciality is definitely ice cream and their popsicles. Very simple set up, but so many options of flavors and treats. Locally owned by a few very friendly and nice ladies who are so generous with everything. For about $2.50, your single" scoop of ice cream can easily be called a double scoop and for less than a dollar more your "double" scoop would look like a triple. Their flavors are delicious and they let you sample. My favorites are their corn and pistachio flavors. I've had the strawberries and cream popsicle ($2 popsicles) and I loved that too. There are plenty of seats inside and there is usually a good crowd flow in and out. A really nice shop run by such nice people. Great spot for a sweet treat. They have a nice selection of ice cream as well as ice pops. And they expand their flavors to more then the typical flavors. I went big and tried the avocado ice cream. It was very tasty and super creamy. I would say there was also a hint of coconut as well which I am a big fan of as well. The ice pop selection looked fantastic with lots of fruit and nut combinations. I will be back to try. They look homemade and delicious. They also had horchata and other fruit drinks. This place was my very first exposure to a Mexican ice cream shop. I am not even sure if it is alright to call this a Mexican ice cream shop since I never asked whether they are really from Mexico. I just assumed just like what I do for the rest of my life. However, I did an extensive research on the name, and it so happen that "Michoacanas" means it comes from a region in Mexico called Michoacan. Therefore, I am vindicated to call this a Mexican ice cream shop. If you never been to a "Michoacanas", you better got to one immediately. If you so happen to be in Fort Smith for some strange reason, you better go to this one. Their ice cream is the gold standard that I use to compare this type of ice cream. First of all, this is not your typical ice cream shop that sells only vanilla and chocolate. Although, the have them, you better not get them. It kinda defeats the purpose of going here if you are just getting vanilla. Go for the flavors that you haven't tried. They have many different types of fruit flavored ice cream. So, you better get the avocado or the mango. They have coconut and guava. You better try them. You will surely not regret it. Their ice cream are pure heaven. I believe they actually use real fruit in making them. They also have other stuff like tacos and tortas. They are great as well, but you can get a better taco elsewhere. We keep on going back here for our ice cream. Back then, they were extremely affordable for the quality and the amount you get. However, when they expanded and annexed the next door shop, their prices increased as well. Still pretty great compared to other ice cream place. Not sure if the two Michoacan Ice Creamery locations are both Delicias Michoacan? They are right next door to each other, one opened about March 2023 and the other much earlier/smaller. Third time at the large new one: frozen bananas first two times and took a risk and tried the Ferroro Roche/Italian flavored house made dairy popsicle: yes! chocolatey...rich hint of nut/caramel sans caramel perhaps. My sweets: ordered 2nd time fraise/strawberry popsicle...loaded avec les fraises/strawberries Tamales $2 but got loaded version with avocados ripened to perfection (i.e. yellow until green edge) and shredded lettuce, salsa and attendant kind enough to update that steak was available atop the nachos: yes steak s.t.p./plz! Each tamale presented quite colorfully on multiple tropical colored washable plates (thank you for not using disposables Delicias Michoacan! And also, next time someone driving to the Michoacan region, can you please coordinate so we can all share gas? I know it's a harrowing process to return but surely worth it given Mexico's natural beauty and incredibly fresh foods and welcoming people...don't know if it's too far of a drive but worth looking...(chuckle). I've only crossed the border by foot near CA border but I always get this nervous feeling attempting to return to our car on the U.S.A. side as a child: what if they don't believe us? (chuckle)...mom used to take us shopping at outlet chains in Tijuana to get school clothes to save money...and later admitted really it was to teach us to be grateful for what we had...given that we were not visiting the modern skyscrapers of Mexico City or the luxury hotels of Cabo San Lucas...but instead greeted with the smell of sewage water in Tijuana and 'favela's' neighborhoods made from affordable sometimes found objects and low cost materials for affordable housing. The smaller location has a great variety of popsicles and is definately this listing for Delicious...the larger one doesn't say Delicias clearly on the sign so not sure if I missed it..some people on Yelp here are saying they are the same business...which would be good...except that popsicles at the small location prior to the new one opening at least around March 2023 were $1.50...new building, more rent...all I know is now the ice cream and fruit or non fruit popsicles are $3...how one could ever have afforded $1.50 in a dairy or fruit based popsicle is beyond me...perhaps a 'loss leader' that draws people in so that they may purchase something with a profit margin or higher one...like a milkshake. Nachos: Not likely wholesome cheese but more of a cheese related product...similar to a velveeta, I didn't order it as I always ask...still delicious...layered with steak...etc. as described above, not as big as Nachos at Vargas Fruiteria but $4 less or even bigger price difference...and plenty big for 4 of us to share as a post dessert snack. Very welcoming to us...and nice to see that evenings there are multiple cars in the parking lot and people in the shop...on a Wednesday (weekdays at odd times you are currently likely to be the only customer but get the word out so this business can stay available for scrumptious get togethers...) They've plenty of space to host poetry, book readings, live music and storytelling...so if you'd like any of that please encourage them...would make a great rental space for a children's party in my opinion.. Some friends brought me here after getting full on ribs down the street. We almost didn't go by! what a shame that would've been. I tried 5 different and unique flavors before going with 1/2 Corn and 1/2 Eggnog small cup. The server was patient and excited to share what they obviously and artistically love to create. Everything was so fresh, so pungent in a beautiful way. Exactly what you want each flavor to taste like, and then some. So good I had to slow down to enjoy them. Both were creamy and smooth, no frost bite or freezer burn (which always ruins ice cream for me). Passing through Fort Smith on a cross country road trip with the kids, we were in dire need of an ice cream break. A Yelp search took us to Delicias Michoacanas. Wow! Upon entering, the kids were overwhelmed by the colorful array of homemade ice pops. Our daughter selected a cream pop with embedded Oreo cookies; our son chose a chocolate-covered banana. Neither was disappointed. Far from it. I was drawn to the freezer filled with homemade ice cream. There were many unique flavors as well as the usual standards. I opted for the exotic: a scoop of "corn" and a scoop of "spicy chocolate". Both flavors were scrumptious. The corn flavor was creamy and not-too-sweet. It was corn on the cob in ice cream form. The spicy chocolate was indeed spicy. Rich chocolate overwhelms the taste buds before the chili-pepper sneaks in and takes over. The wife had a fruity iced drink, which she enjoyed very much. We were all indeed content. We did not depart, though, before procuring an order of chicken tamales for the road. They were wonderful. Firm on the outside, with a tasty filling with just the right kick (not so much of a kick as the spicy chocolate ice cream, though). I'm very glad Yelp guided us to this place. The prices are reasonable to cheap (4 popsicles & 1 ice cream for $10). The service was A-Okay. I definitely asked the clerk to name all the flavors, which I agree is a nuisance, but I like to make an informed choice and nothing was labeled. I live in California where these ice cream places are very common and I happened to be visiting family in fort smith when I dropped in & This place by far has the best ice cream ever! I wish I could ship some of their stuff out to me here in LA. It's all home made there in the shop, and they use the most amazing cream which is what makes the ice cream taste so amazingly good. Not to mention they don't just have boring flavors some of their unique ones are: corn, avocado, spicy chocolate. ALL OF WHICH SOUND LIKE U WOULD NEVER WANT THEM IN ICE CREAM. (But trust me, you do). The drinks called augas frescas in Spanish are amazing here every flavor is delicious. my personal favorites are the pink one called mixed fruits, or the barley flavored one, that's right barley the thing they make beer out of, yeah amazing. Im craving their delicious tortas or the tostadas made with chicken. The establishment has a friendly staff, it's a colorful family environment, and is always so clean.
