I was a little worried it might feel awkward or quiet, but our host, Berry, was fantastic. 1st time visiting Denver. As a foodie myself, my husband thought this tour would be a good one to try, and he was right! This is an on-foot tour, and it was simply perfect getting to know Denver's history as we walked from one restaurant to another. We stopped at 5 different places, all worth the stop. We had a variety of servings such as Pizza, Empanada, Pork Green Chili, Taco served on Fry Bread, and a Spanish Tapa dessert, all delicious and interesting. For an additional cost, you can purchase cocktails if you are craving them while there. Shout out to our tour guide Barry, who was very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions the group had. We took the LoDo Food Tour on 6/14/2025 with Barry as our guide. What a fun, interesting and tasty afternoon. Our guide Barry was terrific. He talked a lot, but kept it interesting, we enjoyed him very much. We are lucky enough to travel often and have taken food tours all over the world and this one stands up well against any of them. The tastings were varied, all scrumptiously prepared and were enough to make us want to come back and try each place again. Our guide, Barry gave us quite a bit of really interesting information about the Denver food scene. It's history, restaurant ratings and his local favorites. Three of the stops had cocktail pairings. Fun food tour in Downtown Denver with Barry Klassen for a girls weekend. It was great to get some history of the restaurants, food on the menu, local history as we walked through the streets, and get introduced to some cool places tucked away that we didn't know about. Not to brag, but I've been on a ton of food tours around the USA and Europe. If I'm being quite honest, I believe that this tour was maybe the best I've ever been on. Here's why... Though our tour group had a total of about 12 people (with some small kids), we moved seamlessly and efficiently to five GREAT stops and learned a ton of history about Denver and the different neighborhoods. Our host was engaging, knowledgable and super charismatic. The price was less than most tours I've done (by a lot!). Each stop was a legit stop and not just a kind of drive by. You will definitely get your money's worth and eat good food. Next time I'm in Denver I will definitely use this same tour operator. read more

My husband and I moved to Colorado from California two years ago. We knew we would have all kinds of different experiences living in a different state. We have traveled extensively, domestic and international, and have eaten many different cuisines. Are we foodies? No. But, we were anxious to really try some new foods to change our mind on Colorado cuisine. Julia, our guide, was very nice and seemed knowledgeable about local fare, even though she herself has not lived in the Denver area very long. The first detail she was wrong about, the legalization of recreational marijuana in Colorado, was a slight disappointment. She stated the year was 2004, but it was 2012. Anyway, I digress. Bottom line, this tour is a total rip-off. $106 each and we got a piece of pizza, an empanada, half a hot dog, a small taco and a dessert to eat. Since we paid for a drink and food pairing, we also received 3 cocktails, a limoncello, a glass of Malbec, and a margarita. We were expecting more.... A gourmet pizza maybe? Ceviche? Wild game? Our opinion of Colorado food has not changed. Sigh. We are bummed. read more

We had a GREAT food tour with Melissa. We started at Neapolitan pizza place Marco's -outstanding, then Argentina beef empanadas from Lazos Empanadas- they were out of this world!!! We ventured on to a Colorado pork Green Chili tasting at Cherry Cricket- yummy! Melissa was so great at adding the history and interesting facts to all of our food stops. She toured us thru the Dairy Barn District and we ended up at Kachina Cantina- this was my favorite!!! We had a Indian fry bread steak taco!!! Definitely this is a restaurant to visit if you love southwestern food. Everyone said it was thee best Fresh Margherita in Denver. YES after these wonderful stops we got to look forward to ending at Union Station with a sweet dessert. The finale was at Ultreia - a Spanish/Portuguese restaurant featuring petiscos- a warm custard in a puff pastry that was heavenly! I believe it was a recipe from Monks in Lisbon. It melted in my mouth - so fast I never got a photo!! Here are a few of my favorites. Melissa was such a great advocate and so passionate with her knowledge of the Denver food scene. Each guest left with personal recommendations for their taste and her tips & recommendations left you wanting to come back to Denver!! The Downtown Denver Food Tour was great! There was a good amount of walking compared to the amount of time we stopped at each food stop. You didn't feel like you were being rushed to eat and you had plenty of time to talk to other people. All of the food was great. We had a pork medallion, a gourmet hot dog, a taco with special breading to eat it with, a cracker with goat cheese, some churros for dessert, and best of all a slice of pizza that is from heaven! All of these items were different and something I would never choose to eat at these restaurants. Each food stop had won awards and had very special about them. This is waaayyyy overdue. I took my husband to Denver for his birthday in November and Ausin was our tour guide. He was such an amazing tour guide super knowledgeable, fun and just an all around cool guy. Probably one of the best guides we've had and every time we travel we do food tours and or wine tours. Austin was just on it and very good at his job and engaging with all of the guests. We had fried chicken at one of the stops and I still wish I could visit just to get some more of that chicken! I took the tour solo and joined a fun group of people and a great guide. I wasn't sure what to expect since I had never been a cocktail-focused tour, but I loved all the drinks we had! I was impressed with the quality of the places we visited and the drinks themselves. It's not like here's a vodka soda, enjoy - these are true craft cocktails that paired fantastically well with the food. Which even though the title says "tastes" I was more than satisfied with the sampling servings we received. Plus, the walking part helped me uncover some areas I'm less familiar with in Denver and marked some places to go back and explore. I highly recommend this tour and would possibly even take it again if others were with me. read more

I thought the tour was ok. I do live in the burbs so I was not the typical tourist customer the company is used to having. My friend bought the tickets for him and me to attend since he knew I am a foodie. The tour guide, Rob, was super friendly and knowledgeable. He was also extremely enthusiastic to try to keep his customers engaged. We went to 5 restaurants to sample a slice of Sicilian pizza, one ground beef empanada, a cup of Colorado green chile, a wagyu beef taco, and a scoop of pumpkin ice cream. We walked to every place and sat at a table as a group for roughly 15 min. They charge an extra $25 per person if they wanted 3 alcoholic drinks on the tour, otherwise everyone got water at each location. It was $70 per person plus 15-20% tip. I'm not a big fan of tours and history... and I was pretty hungry after the tour. There was only one restaurant out of the 5 that I would go back to try more. They switch up a few of the restaurants based on the season. Overall okay experience. I'm sure if you like tours, history, and are a tourist, you'd like it more than me. We opted for Cocktails & Tastes expecting great drinks with a few nibbles on the side. Surprise! The food turned out to be as outstanding as the cocktails! The first stop was at Tavernetta, which is renowned for having a month-long waiting list for dinner reservations. Happily, our group was able to roll right in and enjoy their famous spritzers in the lounge. Delightful chickpea (vegetarian) and fried pasta appetizers. Next we went to Urban Farmer Denver. I'm pretty sure the flatbreads and old fashioneds were everybody's favorites at the end of the night. Vesta was our third stop, where we tasted a rum cocktail, pork belly and orzo. Finally, we made our way to Poka Lola Social Club to try a couple of exotic drinks concocted by their entertaining bartenders. Thank you to Lisa for showing us around town. We just finished this tour a few days ago. We love food tours and have been very lucky to have had several in various spots around the world. We were in town to visit some friends and had a few extra hours, so after reading some reviews and doing some research, selected this one. It exceeded our expectations. Our guide was Rob and the glowing reviews you find mentioning him are not an exaggeration, they are correct and then some. No matter how good the tour was, the guide either makes it or breaks it, and Rob made our tour wonderful. Being a critic and somewhat suspicious, I didn't think he could keep up the enthusiasm, knowledge, humor, or thoughtfulness, but those are who Rob is. He is passionate about what he does and the extent of his knowledge about Denver, the landmarks, the restaurants, and the bars is amazing. Each stop was wonderful and we enjoyed every tasting.
