We learned so much about Denver's history, how the city has evolved over the years, and the stories behind many of its historic buildings and landmarks. The tour also helped us discover several places we wanted to return to and explore in more depth. The meeting location was easy to find, and we were each given an audio headset so we could hear our guide clearly throughout the tour--a thoughtful touch that made the experience even better. If you're looking for a great introduction to Denver, I highly recommend this tour.

I really enjoyed learning about the area's history and recent revitalization. I love it when cities can repurpose old buildings rather than tear them down. The tour started and ended at the train station which is an impressive building and is nicely air conditioned which helped us cool down at the end of the tour. The earbuds made it easy to hear throughout the tour even when there was traffic noise. Definitely bring plenty of water if it's hot out; there is shade which helps, but it is a walking tour so be prepared to be outside for the majority of the time. I was very happy I was wearing my sun hat. This was a fun activity and it was great to learn about the area of Denver where we were staying.

My friend and I decide to try out a ghost tour while we were in Denver last year and I am so happy…read morewe ended up going with Nightly Spirits! We booked the two and a half hour Ghost Tour and Pub Crawl in the LoDo Neighborhood. This not only meant we got to check out some of the cooler bars in the area, but got to hear their history and hear some pretty spooky stories. We stopped at 5 bars/pubs along with a couple stops on the street in between. The guide was very passionate about the history and stories he was telling. He even dressed up in old-timey clothes to set the mood. If we ever go back to Denver, we definitely plan on booking a different tour through Nightly Spirits!

The guide was named Hailey and she was nice enough, but soon it became apparent that there was too much talking on this tour and not enough action. Every ghost or haunting was connected to the brothel industry or a bar and nothing new has been hsunted over the years. The only truly interesting story was of a photo hanging at the Celtic ( where you spend your first 20 minutes). Nothing can be verified though and these stories all seem to handed down via mouth, rather than paper. Another problem was the tour started in one place, but ended in Union Station and if your visiting for the first time like me, she doesn't tell you how to get back to your car. Hailey is clearly underpaid counting on a $10 bonus from the cheap owners of this national company. The tour starts out boring and never recovers. Also, there are some shameful plugs for restaurants that they want you to eat at after you finish. Secretly paid sponsors.

Vacation Food Tours managed to put together a very well thought out itinerary that took into consideration each persons specific tastes as well as food allergies. The food was great and I really liked the gluten free options that were provided. Walking from one venue to another offered us a chance to digest food so that I could eat more at the next destination! Overall great food and excellent customer service. What I liked most is that it took the guess work out of where to eat, especially considering the wide array of food choices in Chicago. Great experience overall!! Will use their services in other cities as well.

We had VACATION FOOD TOURS prepare a personal food tour for our 2 1/2 day visit. This was our first visit to NY and so we were interested in packing in as much as possible. Our tour included food as well as sights. We had an aggressive agenda and managed to hit 14+ restaurants. Be advised, you should really share your food or you will never make it through the tour. The idea is to try the most amazing dish at each location. Don't think that you will go broke eating at each restaurant. Some of the stops were less than $5 to try a dish. Not all stops are sit down restaurants either. While the calorie intake may scare you, if you follow the tour prepared by VACATION FOOD TOURS you will walk off your food and see the sights at the same time. This is a must-do tour for any foodie. We had an amazing Kobe burger and the most fabulous Mexican dish. I would love to tell you the names of these restaurants, but you'll just have to contact VACATION FOOD TOURS for your personalized tour. Our last stop on the tour was Central Park, and although it wasn't written on our agenda, we just happened to run into Yoko Ono who was also enjoying the park. If you are planning a trip and love food you must do one of these food tours!

They offer free tours, which involves watching a short clip about the history of Hammond and then watching the employees work through a looking glass. It was neat learning about this candy business; I've never heard about it. I love learning origin stories because it gives me an idea of the company's values. I think it's amazing that they HAND MAKE all their candies. They have cute paper hats that you can wear. In addition, there are some areas for good photo opportunities. After the tour, you are gifted with a candy cane! You are then led into their candy store. You obviously don't have to purchase anything, but to complete the experience, it doesn't hurt to walk away with some chocolate. (: I'm not from Colorado, so I'm not sure if the prices were cheaper or more expensive than the grocery store (I'm going to assume more expensive). Regardless, we did buy some things. I got a Hammond chocolate bar, some discounted chocolate from their clearance section, and their popular Mitchell Sweets. The Mitchell sweet is $2 for a small packet! My husband liked it, but I thought it was extremely sweet and I only took the tiniest bite. I feel like that little packet can go a long way because of the sweetness. They charge $0.10 for a bag. I didn't want to pay for a bag, so I just used my paper hat as a tray. lol Overall, I did enjoy the visit. I like that it was free and candy cane gift at the end was the sweet cherry on top of the tour.

What they work on varies throughout the year so it may not look the same if you come multiple times. The best part is getting a full-size piece of candy at the end - we got candy canes (maybe that's what it always is?). You end the your at the candy store which is nice but mostly overpriced. If you only want the candy you can go to a Lolli Pops store - they were acquired by Hammond's and now sell the same goodies at their stores. In short, kind of fun to do but wouldn't go out of my way to do this. Best if paired with something else nearby which is what we did, a playground not too far away (there isn't much very close to the factory).
