Well, I try to abide by the old saying, "If you can't say something good..." I'll stop right there. Dell'Anno's is a local pizza place in Danville. The food here is hit or miss. Today's barbecue chicken pizza was almost a hit, but the service was a huge miss. First, the pizza. A great barbecue chicken pizza has the right balance of ingredients: a smoky barbecue sauce that isn't too sweet, chunks of chicken, fresh toppings, and a crust that can actually support everything on top of it. This one had a good barbecue sauce, just way, way too much of it. So much sauce that the crust got soggy and I had to eat it with a fork. I also had an unfortunate accident involving my brand-new chartreuse sweater. The pizza had thinly sliced red onion, which was a good choice, but that was it. No bacon or anything else to add a little texture. The onion, chicken, and barbecue sauce worked well together. The problem was the amount of sauce. It completely overwhelmed the crust. I call it an almost hit because the flavor was good, but no, I would not order it again. Dellano's Pizza Kitchen is a little hole-in-the-wall pizza place in Danville. It's narrow and a bit dark inside. There are about nine or ten booths and tables along one side, with the bar and cooking area on the other. If you walk straight to the back, there's a small patio that can accommodate small groups. I've had two meal mishaps since trying this place, and I'm just not going back. One involved a salad that I paid extra to have egg added to. When I got back to my apartment, I discovered the egg was scrambled. Who puts scrambled eggs on a salad? Now I could forgive the botched salad and the soggy pizza as isolated incidents, but the service was crazy. Our group was there to celebrate the birthday of one of my colleagues. I had a service person coming to my apartment and needed to leave quickly to make it home on time. I called ahead to order my barbecue pizza. The first person who answered the phone was very willing to take my order, but put me on hold to verify that my group had a reservation at this location. I knew they were, but she wanted to check. She was supposed to come back and take my order, but instead a gentleman picked up the phone and asked if he could help me. I repeated the story and explained that I wanted to order ahead but eat the pizza there with my group. He informed me that they do not allow call ahead orders for dine in customers. I paused, thinking he might realize how silly that sounded. He didn't. So I simply hung up, called back, and ordered it as takeout. Then when I arrived I picked up my takeout pizza, joined my group on the patio, and ate it there anyway. What made this even stranger is that I have ordered ahead and eaten there before. In fact, our group has done exactly that in the past. Maybe there was a misunderstanding. Maybe there is a policy nobody else knows about. Either way, nobody seemed to know what the actual rule was. Suggestion: If you decide to try the barbecue chicken pizza, ask for light barbecue sauce or get the sauce on the side. Tip: Play it safe and order the Philly Cheesesteak sub read more

Quaint pizza diner with exposed brick. The kitchen is shrouded behind black walls. A long row on indoor booths as well as outdoor seating is available. Seat yourself upon arrival and a server will greet you some time after. Service was good, our server Tia was friendly and attentive, 5 stars for Tia. Searching for someplace new and landed up here. They seem to do pretty robust carryout business, so must be a favorite for locals. First time here and we were starving. I got the chicken parm and it was humongous. I'm a big eater and barely finished half of it. Came with a salad which was also pretty large, although it was kinda more like cheese with some salad underneath. As a cheese lover, worked for me. My entree was smothered in more cheese and the chicken seemed freshly made. Pasta could have been strained more b/c there was too much water on the plate. Food here was decent. Not amazing but definitely worth stopping in. My wife had the salad and single slice lunch. The lettuce was a little tired and not as fresh as it could be. My son and I each had Strombolis. They were much better than my wife's pizza slice (it was clear that with hers, they simply took a cheese pizza slice, added her toppings of choice and reheated it. Ambience and vide were good as well. The smell when you walk in is a beautiful thing. The service was the best part of the experience today. Tia was a rockstar and a phenomenal host. She was hyper, attentive, professional, with a wonderful personality. She worked her tail off. The manager had only her on the floor and the place was 80% full. She KILLED it. All that to say, pizza is worthy of stopping in. Lunch specials are a definite bonus. And if you have Tia, just know that you're going to be in great hands. read more

I tried the Meatball's with the Marinara sauce, it was Delicious. Too much Bread though. The Size of the Hoagie was worth the Price and the French fries were a Humongous amount. Our Waitress was very friendly and helpful. Disappointed they got my Philly Steak pizza wrong. I wanted no mushrooms on half of the pizza but they did the opposite and made one side of your pizza all cheese and mushrooms nothing else. Should've just ordered a second Butcher pizza since everyone loved that one. The wings were good but the sweet and spicy could've had more heat to the sauce. Second the food was horrible, this was my first time ever trying this place and I was very disappointed. I got the chicken Alfredo, the noodles were over cooked, not enough sauce and was bland. Wow! Been looking for 10 years for a good meatball sub and I finally found it! AND a Philly Cheese Steak that tastes as good as it looks. AND onion rings that were fried to perfection! The beer a piece my husband and I had were a little pricey, but I did get a Ballad Brewing IPA (he had a Bud Light). So the total before taxes for all this tastiness...$37.80...amazing! When it comes to pizza, Dellano's pizza kitchen is sub par. I used to work at Ruffino's in the mall for years and they have the same owner. I have always thought Ruffino's was the best pizza in the city, RIP to a real one. They also own Monk's pretzels and Dellano's in Brosville. All of the pizza serving locations taste different and the pizza kitchen is by far the worst. The worst in all of Danville, if I am being honest. It's not disgusting, but it just doesn't exceed any other pizza available. The crust is dry as a bone and was crumbling in my mouth as I ate it. This is unacceptable, especially when your other locations are of better quality. The one good thing about this location is the proximity of other downtown attractions and being able to deliver quickly. We love Dellano's takeout so much we've had it twice recently! I don't eat much meat, so I enjoyed the broccoli calzone! Most recently I asked if they could make a Caesar wrap with shrimp rather than chicken, and for $2 extra it did not disappoint at all! The food is decent and staff are fine. However; management needs to something completely different with their takeout process. Maybe hire more staff and have them dedicated to just take out orders. My 15-20 min wait was literally an hour, an hour after I got there-not including the time I called to place the order and when I finally got my order it was cold. Again the food isn't bad but the wait time that essentially effects the customer service is a reoccurring issue, enough of an issue to make me take another break from supporting. read more

Took my daughter here for dinner last night after dance for the first time and it's very very good! Super clean pizza place and a small outdoor patio in the back that's pet friendly. Cute! I had the OMG chicken pasta with Caesar salad. The salad was wonderful and I loved that they included a lemon. The pasta was fantastic, however, I didn't really care for the chicken. Yea yea it's a chicken pasta dish but again, I didn't care for the chicken. Everything else about it was delicious! I will try a shrimp or veg pasta next time bc the sauce was amazing. My daughter had the white pizza as recommended by the waitress. It was wonderful and loaded with toppings. I did order the Butcher Stromboli for my husband and took it to him at work.
