It's pretty basic and looks like it used to be a Big Boy or Shoney's restaurant, but the food was very good and the servers were very nice. The place is very casual- An ideal restaurant for family dinners. The food is pretty good for the price. For a family of two adults and three kids it was less than $50 The kids menu is very short but most kids would enjoy the pizza or chicken tenders just fine. Tried this new La Nostra Cucina for lunch while in town and was not disappointed at all. They have a good selection of entrees on the menu, but I went with the Supreme Pizza and it was outstanding. The Supreme was loaded with pepperoni, hamburger & suasage along with a variety of veggies and plenty of good quality mozzarella cheese, no yellow grease pools from low quality cheese and no orange grease pools from cheap low quality pepperoni on the pizza here, this pizza was legit. You can add a trip to the salad bar to your meal for $4.50, which I thought was a little steep for a 1 trip sald, but I got it anyway. The salad bar is not huge, but has the basics, it does have spinach & mixed greens along with regular iceberg lettuce. After the meal the waitress brought out a tray with all their dessert choices which included a chocolate lava cake, cheesecake, cannolis, tiramisu and some others I'm forgetting. The cannolis and tiramisu are made in house so I opted for the tiramisu and it was an excellent ending to lunch. Great food and great service on my visit, La Nostra Cucina is definitely worth checking out if you are in the area. read more

Ok, my star rating is based on the fact that this is a Mom n Pop diner and you shouldn't hold them to Michelin standards. Keep this in mind. This lil gem in Danville was only a quarter mile from the hotel and is very simple. But the food they make was a lovely happy surprise! I had to try the potato leek soup! Sounded so good and I was not disappointed! It was a thick soup full of potato flavour graced with essence of leeks and perfectly seasoned!! I then had the stuffed chicken breasts with rice pilaf and veggie medley of broccoli, carrots, and zucchini. The veggie medley was the best!! Sauteed with butter and cooked to perfect al dente, the veggies made the dish feel luxurious! The rice pilaf wasn't overly salty or overwhelming. As for the stuffed breasts, They were lightly breaded, pan-seared, and had ham and cheese stuffed in middle. I was full - too full to do dessert! Very generous portions are offered here!! And the staff is delightful. You will want to keep this lil place on your list of trys!!! read more

I am a real die hard fan of LNC. I discovered it just after its opening two years ago, and I have eaten seriously over 100 meals here. Both of my last birthdays were spent here. I haven't had a bad meal here yet. The spaghetti, lasagna, ziti, carbonara, pizza, meatball sub, and burger are all outstanding. I should try more of the menu but those items always draw me back. This was ok. We had spaghetti, spinach manicotti and the salad bar. The prices are not what I would pay to eat here again. Yes they are friendly. A trip to the salad bar comes with no entrees. To add on its $4.50. I like salad with my Italian food so that turns a $12-13 dish to $20 not including a drink. The spaghetti was not very good. I must just eat a lot of spaghetti to compare or I make better. It's not carini quality. The saving grace was the very flavorful spinach in the manicotti. If you want spinach you will get spinach. My only complaint to that dish is dry and warming it up made it almost inedible. Had there been more sauce and cheese this could have been my go-to. I am reading from others review that the pizza is amazing so I will most def try the pizza-to-go. read more

I had a friend with me that wanted the pepperoni on the ALL meat pizza I ordered. I had white onions and mushrooms added It was just as I remembered Delicious. And today as Im reheating it Im finding out the dough isn't cooked throughly Very disappointing. My main issue with the inside dining was IT took FOREVER waiting for the pizza They weren't even busy There may have been two other tables of very few people I do apologize to the server because I was upset and took all but $1 of the tip back from the table, my dining friend had left of the $6. But the second pizza was a big disappointment all the way around Eventhough I picked each pepperoni off the pizza it still had the taste of that particular unique meat all over my pizza. Loved, loved, loved the food here. We had mozzarella sticks, bruschetta, chicken wings, chicken parmesan and tortellini LNC (I think that was the initials). Oh my god the wings and tortellini. Fantastic! Salad bar was typical, but I will mention it for the freshness and taste of the produce- definitely above average for this area. Looking forward to trying the desserts next time! La Nostra Cucina is a small, family owned restaurant that was renovated from a number of previous restaurants in this location. I have been here twice now and I can't say I am all that impressed. Don't get me wrong, there is not anything particularly bad about the restaurant, but I would rather go to other Italian restaurants in the Danville area before I would go here. I have had their Baked Ziti and Fettucine Alfredo, both were average. I have not tried their salad bar, but I have not heard anyone say anything about it. Prices are fair on menu items. read more

For the rest of us that ordered entrees absolutely awful! Ravioli was stuffed with what looked like retried beans. Chicken Parmesan was food service Sysco quality at best. 6 people and food did not come out together. Spaghetti and meatballs (baked) wasn't even hot. This is a gem in Danville. Service was fast, efficient & polite. I had the beef ravioli and my coworker had the chicken parmigiana. The ravioli were tender and the beef was flavorful & moist. Her chicken parm was huge and the sauce was thick (not that orangish sauce some restaurants serve). The rolls were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Upon entering the restaurant, all I noticed was the horrendous decor which ruins the vibe. I decided to overlook it based on the crowd that was in the restaurant, which I took as a good sign. Unfortunately, my instincts were correct as the food was absolutely terrible. I was shocked based on all the glowing reviews that I read about this place. Everything was so bland - I could have easily microwaved a TV dinner that would have tasted better. To top it all off, it was insanely expensive; our table of 4 people paid around $80 total! Was their 3rd customer opening about 2 + years ago with my Parkinson's dieing father who absolutely love it. Was always treated terrific. I am sitting at my table now and have requested a complaint be addressed on a salad bar for $8.00 when all I wanted was one trip which is also too expensive for a one trip @ 4.00. Management does not answer well to customer service. He only took complaint and walked away The waitress literally hassled us by asking with repeativly (with a condescending smile) or monotone smile is everything alright. Literally asking excessively. So terrible customer service no response. Pizza was good but its now garlic out of a can not cut fresh! Just got treated terrible for the second time. Will not return. Will not recommend. My husband had surgery on his knee March 2nd and just got home from rehab. He is doing great but is craving some lasagna. I didn't really want to cook so I decided to try this new Italian place on Riverside. Take out. It was by far some of the best Lasagna I have had other than mine. The sauce was so fresh and the cheese was divine. The salad bar was cold and the veggies were fresh. We will definitely go back. Especially when I can go in and dine. I recommend this restaurant.
