Please don't go. I went in for a root touch-up and they stained my neck and ears. The work was done by an assistant who was not listed among the bookable providers -- I had chosen a specific stylist with the service I requested , and without any explanation, they switched me to someone else. Several stylists came over and commented on my neck amongst themselves without fully explaining what was happening, and I only figured it out once I got home. When I complained, the salon said that staining is to be expected and no refund is issued ( root touch +blowdry 175$) So feel free to try this salon -- if you're okay with walking out like that. The staining is not easily fixable, it takes days to fade, and it's certainly not healthy for your skin. read more

I couldn't believe what I was observing! It's no wonder the stylists are leaving this salon one by one. She was downright abusive, and no one should put up with that. I was a former customer who will NEVER return. My loyalty is towards the stylists who are making money for this disgusting woman. Don't give her any business! Enter Debbie. I met her at a different salon, and followed her at Delaria. Every time I come here the front desk is rude and unhelpful. Also the prices go up every few months. In the last 3 years, it's gone from $70 to $95 today. That's over a 25 percent increase for a women's haircut and blow dry before tip. The salon was half empty- I think a lot of customers are tired of being priced gouged and are moving on. The prices need to be clearly listed- you can't just set whatever price you want and force the customer to go along with it after the service is completed. No one wants to feel disrespected and ripped off. Greed will be this place's undoing. read more

Don't come here. The stylist was nice, but my hair is ruined. I mentioned to both the girl washing my hair and the stylist that my foils were dripping and smelled like vinegar. They said they didn't know what that was. Now, my hair is breaking off about 1.5 or 2 inches from my scalp such that I am going to have micro-bangs. I called and the woman I spoke to just offered to have my come in for deep conditioner or shine treatment and I kept saying that's not going to fix this situation because my hair is gone. Conditioner won't bring it back. She asked if I had breakage when I left and I said no but it takes time for hair to react. She scoffed when I said no, as if this is my fault. As if I would break off the front of my own hair! I got this done at Dellaria two days ago; I haven't done anything to damage my own hair. I don't use a straightener or a curling iron. I didn't do this. The processing damaged my hair. I looked up what vinegar-smelling liquid dripping from foils means, and it is the result of over-processing and heat used on foils. It means severe damage. I also have "hot roots," which is also caused by heat on foils and foils slipping. I had hot roots as soon as I got home from my appointment, right after being toned (for a really long time), so toner likely wouldn't fix it, either. My hair is irreparably damaged. They "don't offer refunds," which I get in most cases, but I can't believe they can damage my hair like this and just basically shrug. You can't condition my hair back onto my head. My only saving grace is that these are highlights, so my strands of natural hair are not breaking. I'm not confident that it will be enough in the long run. She kept saying if I come in, they can assess the damage, maybe do the treatments I mentioned before. I said I was happy to come in, but those treatments won't bring my hair back, so what else can they do? Nothing. They will do nothing. Updated to add another photo (Tuesday morning, three days after foil) to show how far from roots the foil was, the hot roots, and how uneven it is. I have the broken hairs tucked under layers and smoothed down with gel and wax so you can see how bad the color looks. read more

I'd been coming to Dellaria Brookline for about a little over a decade now and am sad to note that the salon has gone way downhill over the past year. It's disappointing to see what was once such a customer service focused salon change this way. The staff isn't empowered, and management is completely absent, so when issues occur, there's no one who can take care of it. They've repeatedly been out of needed products, including basics like color. Salon is not being cleaned well and stylists just blow client hair at you if you're sitting waiting for your appointment. There are cameras everywhere, including outside the bathroom. Front desk staff turns over on a monthly basis. I feel bad for my stylist and continue to see them, but if not for them, I'd definitely go elsewhere. read more

I've visited Dellaria - Brookline Salon a couple of times for haircuts, and I've been consistently impressed. Conveniently located near Coolidge Corner with plenty of shops nearby, it's very easy to access. I especially appreciate the option to book appointments online and choose a stylist, which makes the process super convenient if you prefer not to call. The stylists here are hit or miss, which is bad enough given the prices they charge, but the poor treatment by management is really behind this 1 star review. My first haircut here with T was terrible. She cut way more than I wanted. Fortunately the manager was understanding and booked a complimentary redo with A. A turned out to be amazing and I went to see her for three years, along with members of my family. She was skilled, precise and receptive to her customer needs. Then one day we took a chance with J because my son wanted a same day cut and A was not available. This was a big mistake. She looked at his reference pic for 10 seconds then took 15 minutes to give him a cut that did not look like the picture but worse, was uneven in parts. I could see through to his scalp in some sections. I foolishly paid the ridiculous fee. But the worst part was when I reached out to suggest he deserved a fix, I got no response. I call three times and emailed twice. The front desk associates were friendly but management is clearly ignoring me. The fact that they could not even bother to respond at all to a loyal client is unacceptable. I suggest you find another salon. There are many in Brookline. read more

I went for an updo a few months ago and had an experience that left such a bad taste in my mouth that I felt compelled to share. I have had updos before for proms and weddings and have truly never experienced anything remotely like this. The hair stylist was SOOO rough with me I almost started crying and genuinely wondered if she was going through things and taking them out on me or whether she got enjoyment out of hurting someone. She teased and curled my hair so aggressively, constantly pulling and yanking until my skull was so sore all over. She could see I was visibly pained and said "sorry I know I'm heavy handed." I admitted it was quite painful (and usually I'm a suck-it-up kind of person) and she brushed it off and did nothing to make the experience gentler. In fact, it got worse when she started jamming Bobby pins into my head like I was a voodoo doll. I expect mild discomfort with Bobby pins (usually with long wear), but this was something else entirely. She assured me it was all in the name of beauty, again acknowledging that she knew she was causing me pain. To be honest, I don't care how great it turned out for that kind of service. And it turned out pretty awful. It was fine from the front but looked like a bird's nest from the back and had lots of visible Bobby pins poking out. Nothing at all like the photo I showed her as inspiration. I had another, more intricate updo a few weeks later for another wedding (different hair stylist/salon) and it was night and day difference. She was SOOOOO gentle (yet the hairstyle still lasted all night) and it looked 10000% better. Still bummed about the whole experience months later :-( read more

my stylist is very talented and I have been her client for many years. I travel a fair distance and keep returning to Brookline for her. But, the salon itself is dirty and in dire need of a deep cleaning and then regular cleaning thereafter. The bathroom is disgusting and I have trouble believing that the management and the leadership of Dellaria are not aware of these deficiencies. The hair is so deeply ingrained into the carpet going downstairs that it appears that it would be almost impossible to get it out. I have directly spoken with 4 different managers about these issues and each time I return there is no improvement. It is sheer arrogance on the part of the Company's leadership that they feel they can ignore these issues due to Dellaria's name recognition and the Coolidge Corner location. read more

- I called on 3/17/24 regarding walk-ins and men's haircuts, and they said that they had an opening that day, so I decided to go. Only later would I realize I should have asked for specifics on who I was paired with and their experience level. - Got to Dellaria and waited. Met the stylist named Messia and showed her pictures of exactly what I wanted (this was never an issue in the past with previous stylists I went to). - Messia proceeds to cut the bottom half of my hair all around my head with a "4" electric shaver. Then she has me waddle over for shampoo and conditioner with my hair that is half uncut (at this point, I have a bowl cut). - Her electric shaver has also completely cut up and injured the back of my neck and the sides of my face and ears (see attached pictures). - Coming back to the chair, she took scissors and did not blend the cut at all. She chopped it up and gave me bangs, LOL. - This is when she realized she had failed. So, during the middle of the cut, she introduced me to another stylist named D to take over. My haircut experience had inevitably turned into a training session for Messia. - D miraculously fixes the haircut to some extent, and my hair turns out somewhat normal, but I am also left completely cut up from the electric shaver they used. Messia also did not have the equipment for trimming beards and made me feel uncomfortable after questioning if I exfoliate. (I have perfect hygiene.) - After the tragic haircut, I spoke to the woman at the front and mentioned everything that had happened. She was extremely dismissive, did nothing to help rectify the situation, and, as I was speaking to her, she just walked away, went to the back of the salon, and never returned. I should have been given a refund without question. By far, this was the worst experience I've ever had with a hair salon or barber shop. read more

So, I debated about posting this for a while but I previously posted a one sentence review without a reason, and I wanted to expand on that...I am very disappointed with Dellaria Brookline as I do not think that they handled this situation properly at all. I've been coming for about three years and I had one woman, Zaza and I would go to once or twice a year for the color and the cut on my hair. I never had any problems with her nor did she tell me she had any with me. I went to various other people for a blowouts, and normally not very picky. Most stylists had done a great job. The last time I visited Dellaria I requested that Zaza redo the color because it was very streaky and not what I asked for. It looked great afterwards. When I called to schedule an appointment a year later (I had moved and not been back since) They then stated that apparently because I asked for a redo that I was banned (?) which the policy was never communicated and I did not think that I had asked rudely and I just called and asked if they could fix it and I would pay for the difference. Apparently, another stylist Nicole, complained who I've only worked with once or twice, but the one time that I do remember, she put a product on my hair that made it sizzle, and I asked if it was fully dry and she became very offended telling me not to tell her how to do her job and pointing out that I seemed uncomfortable, which I said was because I'm not normally used to my hair popping in sizzling under a straightener as that normally does not happen. There was another stylist, Denise, who did a blowout, who scratched my scalp to the point when washing it where she ripped out hair and my hair was left very thin on the scalp, and they tried to tell me that it was due to dying and hot tools, which was not the case I have not color treated my hair in at least a year, and I have been to another salon where my hair has since grown back and they did not manhandle my hair as she did...They also claimed that I did not fill out or refused to fill out paperwork which I have no idea what they were talking about as I was never provided with any. While I will not be going back to any Dellaria location anytime soon this was very disappointing and honestly a bit offensive for someone who would've been coming to the salon for so long. Ultimately, I'm very shocked at them not communicating any of this and I was only given this information after calling to schedule an appointment. First appointment today with Stella for color/highlights/cut. Always slightly nerve racking. Stella was awesome! Love hair color/highlight's and cut. She didn't overdue highlights. They are very soft and blend well into my color. Her personality was very friendly and professional. Being in the salon was comfortable. Music was at a comfortable level. One of my worst experiences in a salon - bad enough for me to warn people against this place. My hair-stylist, Anna was extremely rude and unprofessional. I typically like to hear opinions from the hair stylist on what style would suit my face and I like to be experimental - precisely why I emphasized on having a consultation when I booked my appointment. They said that's included automatically, but Anna was unresponsive from the start and didn't offer any suggestions whatsoever. I tried to explain to her 3-4 times what I wanted after that and she just absent-mindedly nodded without implementing any of it. If I didn't spell it out, she would have left my hair asymmetrical on both sides! She seemed eager to just get me off the chair and be done with. Her body language was very off-putting, and she told me to my face that I was being fidgety, because demanding a reasonable haircut upon paying a hefty price (it cost me $60+) seems to be a big ask. That's when I just had to leave even though I wasn't done with the haircut to my satisfaction. The woman at the front desk offered to bring it up with operations, and management only called me to ask if they can call later only to never call back. HORRIBLE customer service at every step. I first went to this salon about a year ago. I had someone bleach my hair unprofessionally and it was absolutely destroyed. I went into Dellaria just hoping it will come out all the same color. Well Shelley did say more than just one color. I have been to her three times and today is going to be my fourth time going to her. She had transformed my hair into my dream hair within three appointments with her. Never mind the amazing conversations we have had with each other while being with her. Not only is the stylist more than amazing for her work. The owner Sandi is very friendly to her customers and remembers you when you come in for the second, third, fourth appointment. I took a chance on this salon after going for years to a salon in Cambridge. And I lucked out big time! Heather, a senior veteran stylist, cut my hair and styled my curls better than anyone has in YEARS. She taught me tricks that, at almost 30 years old, no one has ever shared with me about how to care for curly hair. The rest of the staff at Dellaria Brookline were warm and accommodating and I will be making this my permanent salon!! Dellaria Bookline is the best! It took me 4 years to find a hair salon with the level of professional expertise Dellaria Brookline has. Coming from Barcleona the stakes were high. Zaza (Isaura) is outstanding as a stylist and her knowledge of coloring is amazing. She is also very good at listening to the client and working with you to understand how right or wrong you might be in your expectations. She also nailed my color (I wear blond highlights) and gives great advice when slightly changing style. She does that across all age groups; my teenage son is a big fan of her after several cuts...he will not get a haircut elsewhere. She is also ALWAYS on time. The other stylists seem great, but I can't talk about them bc I only ever had Zaza take care of my hair. Finally Sandy at the front desk is sharp, fast, and always on point. Came in for a last minute appointment with Heather, recommended by Celeste (who is also awesome) and it was AMAZING! I had gone from very dark brown (natural hair color) to blonde and in between, I had a fading of strawberry blonde tone. So, 2 months into the blonde I decided it wasn't for me and preferred the strawberry blonde. Heather was blew my mind!!! She tweaked all the coloring to my liking and it resulted in a gorgeous red head She even taught me how to take care of my curls! I had never seen my hair go from Sahara dry to silk soft in less than an hour Then, she taught me which products should be used for my hair, and will be going back in 2-3 weeks to get my roots and maybe some baby lights! I came to Dellaria in Brookline looking for a new salon since I just moved here. I am a pretty basic client- long uncolored hair, and I just need layers touched up and dead ends cut. I made my appointment for 9am knowing they open at 830 so I wouldn't be opening the location. I arrived at 8:50 and the salon was dark. I thought maybe I had the wrong place and triple-checked my emails and texts where I got even more confused. The address in the emails says 332 Harvard but the business says 322. At 9:05 the receptionist ran across the street and let me in. She didn't ask my name or check me in at all so I awkwardly sat down in the waiting area and waited for direction. Then she started to straighten her hair at the salon chair right in front of me. I sat there for another 15 minutes until another girl walked in and completely ignored me. She went to the back of the building. 5 minutes later, she came out and asked my name, and escorted me to my chair. It was 9:20 when I finally sat down with no apologies about the lateness. The cut itself was okay but I asked for long layers and can confirm that I have ZERO layers in my hair right now. Id also like to add that the receptionist ignored two calls while she was straightening her hair. When I was ready to check out, I waited at the front desk for Sasha for another 3-5 minutes before she came in the front door with Starbucks. Like I said above, I am pretty easy about what my hair looks like and I have never complained or wrote a review about a bad restaurant experience but this salon experience was absolutely terrible and I won't be going back or referring anyone here. I understand people run late and that some requests are difficult to execute but all of these combined experiences added up were awful. A bad haircut is fine and I can live with it and give a salon another chance but the way I was treated here is unforgivable. A front-facing person for a business should not be as rude as Sasha was. Juliana is the best! I went in for a simple haircut to get rid of my super long hair for the summer. She listened to what I want, gave me suggestions on where to part my hair, and talked about dry shampoo options. I wasn't going to get a blow dry but she seemed so excited for my hair, I changed my mind and the blow dry results were great. The 4-star instead of 5-star is for the front desk person. It was my first time at Dellaria and she was not positive about offering the 20% discount. I had to ask and inquire more than I needed to. I did not like her attitude. It is $37.2 after the discount.
