She said the hairstylist kept the bleach in way too long and she could smell her hair burning from the straightener. I don't want to leave a bad review, but I got my haircut here with no blow dry, and when I got home, and it dried my hair was two different lengths on each side, and the layers were more like distinct lengths on top of each other. Very disappointed because my hair is also short, and it will take a while for me to be able to get another cut to even it out. It can be hard to reach them on the phone to make appointments in the first place, and they don't offer online scheduling. I am new to the area and have been looking for a new hairdresser. I bought a groupon for a cut and hair treatment. It was very easy to book an appointment by calling in. I arrived and was seated for a wash right away. The hair washing and drying was done by an assistant but the hair cut and blow drying was done by Giovanni himself. I am very happy with the results. Giovanni did an amazing job! In terms of covid precautions, I was one of the first appointments of the day so it was not too crowded. They also take temperatures before seating you. The hair dressers are all wearing masks and sanitized between customers. I felt pretty safe. Giovanni is also VERY efficient. Him and his assistant were flowing customer to customer. While one waited for their color, the other got a cut etc. I did not feel like I was waiting like most hairdressers. This is the best salon experience I have ever had! I reallllly wanted to love this place. But my hair is a gross yellow color even after the "fix," aka more toner. The cut is uneven and the service was painful at best. Since when did hair dressers start ripping out people's hair?? Wtf. First visit: I wanted darker, Jean suggested lighter. I said ok, and showed him my usual Jennifer Aniston inspiration pick. He did full foils, washed, rinsed, dried, then cut. The cut was choppy and he took off more than I would have liked, but it grows back so nbd. I said, "looks brassy, no?" He said no, but to come back if I didn't love it. I got home and really didn't love. Second visit: So I went back and he did a toner. I felt bad going back, he really is such a nice man. But my hair is not especially hard to color, it's fine hair, medium brown, typical white girl hair. He said I really needed a treatment, so I did a $200 college treatment. He applied the treatment and brushed through my wet, tangly hair. It was so painful I ended up crying and asked him to stop. Time after time he ripped and pulled on my hair. Since when is this the norm??? I treat my hair so delicately at home. I use good products and prevent tangling. Jean towel scrubbed my strands together during washing, towel scrubbed my hair to dry, and instead of separating and drying in pieces, he was just shaking my hair all around with no rhyme or reason during drying. Like, these are all the things I avoid doing!!! For $200 the collagen treatment was crap. My hair feels worse even now after a few weeks. It tangles more easily and feels frizzy. The color is god awful and I'm just waiting a few more weeks to get it all corrected by another person. read more

I'm not one for confrontation, but I wish I were. This is one of the worst haircuts I've ever had and I care a lot about my hair, so it's very upsetting. Also a terrible experience. I made an appointment and got there on time and there were two people working, but one mostly sat at the front desk unless ordered around. I'll spare you the long saga, but my hair cut started an hour late. He was hardly looking at my head a lot of the time but instead talking to other customers, talking to the front desk lady, and watching the TV. He was careless with his tools and my hair, and he doesn't appear to clean things between clients at all. He smacked my head countless times, whipped my hair into my eye several times, and yanked his comb through tangles. My hair is totally uneven--much shorter on the left than on the right, and not even within the layers. I also said that I don't like layers. I also said that I don't like face framing. He verbally confirmed those back to me. Somehow, I got both. I'm going to have to get it fixed somewhere else, which sucks because he also made it shorter than we discussed, so to fix it will mean to make it way shorter than I would ever want. I'm very upset. I had a feeling before he finally started due to the delay and his distracted nature that I should leave with wet hair, and I wish I would have. $70 for something that's going to upset me every time I look in the mirror. read more

The Olaplex treatment was okay, but only lasted for that one week. The dark ash...longer. I was so sad, I rushed to CVS for a box of Feria and applied it the following week. The operator next to me had the dirtiest hair I've ever seen on a human being. I was repulsed to see a hair stylist with such filthy hair. Finding the best colorist is a challenge for Blondes. Many times, I have paid top dollar, only to leave the salon with orange hair or hair that is too ashy. THIS IS NOT THE CASE WITH GIOVANNI's HAIR DESIGN. Giovanni is a master colorist and an artist with style. I could not be any more pleased with Giovanni. He treats you like a princess/prince and you leave feeling like a queen/king. I enjoy watching Giovanni transform individuals' style and color. I have very dark Asian hair which has been a pain to color in the past, but the highlights I requested were put in super quickly (the entire visit including color/cut/shampoo/blowout only took 1.5 hrs). Don't use this salon for coloring your hair. This salon did a TERRIBLE job with my color, and I am being kind. I have light brown hair, no highlights. I went to the salon for a haircut and to color my gray roots. I specifically stated that I did not want the color of my hair changed. 1) I started to get concerned when no color matching was done. 2) I became even more concerned when the alarm rang to wash out my color and nobody was around and waiting for that alarm to sound. I had to get up from my chair to ask the receptionist to find someone to remove my color. 3) I really started to get scared when my hair was washed and dried. My hair was no longer light brown: it was almost black! I commented that my hair was around 10 shades darker than it was supposed to be. I was told, "Don't worry, the color will wash out after a few shampoos". Well, it's day #5 and it did not wash out. 4) I was supposed to get my hair cut with Giovanni and I was told in the middle of my coloring that Giovanni wasn't available (he was busy cutting another woman's hair) and someone named George would do it. George did a great job but I still felt like a "bait and switch" was done. I had an appointment with the most experienced hairdresser in the salon and my hairdresser was switched 15 minutes before my hair was cut. ------------------------------- This was the first and last time I would use this salon. I bought a Groupon to try them out. If you just want to get your hair cut, this salon is fine, even with the "bait and switch". Bellissima! I bought a Groupon for a wash, cut and hair treatment. I showed Giovanni a few reference photos and he got to work. I knew I was in good hands when he said "let me dry your hair first, then I'll do the cut". Giovanni works quickly and with finesse, clearly, he has lots of experience and moves through a haircut making tweaks and changes in a way that really reflects his craft and attention to detail. Giovanni is not for the sensitive-scalped. I personally have no problem with this; as someone with thick hair who has sat through agonizingly long haircuts in the past (2+ hours) full of stifled small talk. I'd prefer to see someone who values my time and theirs. If you're looking for a dainty, chatty, leisurely hair experience, this might not be for you. Please avoid this place! I had an awful haircut here- Giovanni does not listen to what the client wants. He has a major ego problem and goes on and on about being trained in London and Paris so "he knows what's good for hair". Other reviews mention the same - I thought maybe the client wasn't clear - nope, Giovanni is simply an awful stylist with an ego. He insists on a "dry cut" which is essentially him going crazy on your hair with thinning shears. I have a completely uneven haircut with flyaways and spikes. He even put short layers in when I specially asked him to not have layers! He's rough on your hair, pulling and banging your head with the hair dryer. To top it off the salon is filthy! Spend your $75 elsewhere so it won't take you 2 years to grow out his butchering. read more
