I will not be going back here. I went in for a cut and highlights. When I went in I told them I only had an hour and a half and I was assured that that was more than enough time. Although I reminded the stylist several times, she still did not have enough time and I really felt that she rushed through the cut without really caring how it looked. I had to leave with my hair wet and so I didn't really until that night that my hair was drastically shorter on one side. The highlights were way too orange/yellow and my roots were showing after less than a week. After a month, I needed to go to another salon and try to salvage my hair. For starters I don't normally do things like review businesses but after going to the Davis square Dellarias I have never been happier. I was a walk in last night, pretty late for a spur of the moment cut. I was not expecting to even get in! When I walked in I was greeted by the pleasant desk girl which I later found out was one of the managers. She introduced herself, christina I think it was. I asked for a cut and blowdry the salon looked busy so I didn't think I had a shot for that night. The manager told me to wait 15 and they could squeeze me in. I grabbed a coffee and returned to wait in a very uncomfortable waiting area but I was informed by the manager a new one was on its way. After she gave me a magazine and water I guess I can forgive that. After a few minute wait I saw Ashley she eased me into a small cut which I loved and she explained what I need to continue on my quest for long hair. She took her time and she seemed to know her stuff. At the end Ashley explained if I rebook ill get 10% off my next visit. I did and I may even be back for color. I highly recommend this place aside from the waiting area everything was perfect. The manager was helpful with products and my hairdresser knew her stuff. I came here in May for a haircut originally. I called the morning of and was able to schedule an appointment during the afternoon. However, upon sitting down with my stylist, I decided at the last minute to go with a coloring as well. He checked with receptionist and was able to fit me into his schedule, which I appreciate. It was my first time getting any kind of coloring, so I explained to him that I was a little nervous. He was patient and explained to me what he would be doing and guided me through the process. I also got a haircut afterwards which seemed a bit rushed at the time but ended up looking great in the end. I have to say that I was extremely pleased with the results. Honestly, I think my hair has only looked better and better with time, and two months later, it still looks great. This is probably the best hair salon experience I have had and I would recommend this location to others. Although pricey ($125 for a haircut and partial foil), I definitely feel that it was worth it. The service was also good and customer-oriented. read more

I came in with more of an explanation about my hair issues/goals (split ends, trying to grow out bangs) than a good idea of what I wanted, and the stylist was very helpful but didn't try to oversell me on anything. The stylist even spent awhile trying to teach me fun things to do with my long bangs, and I ended up with silly smooth hair and cute little bang braids and felt great all night! I've never written a review before but my experience at this salon was so great yesterday I really wanted to comment on what a great experience I had at Dellaria Hair Salon in Davis Sq. in Somerville. Over the years I have had different stylists cut my hair and have been to several Dellaria Salons. When I got to my appointment I was a little early and the girl at the desk offered me a seat while I waited.... which was only about 60 seconds because Kathryn came right around to meet me. She was so friendly and personable. I was really happy that I happened to be booked with her.We talked the whole time. She was super sweet and I was so happy with my cut and blow dry!..... She does an amazing blow dry by the way! My hair looked amazing! She gave some tips on how to take care of my hair because I style my hair with flat irons and curling irons constantly. she told me about products that she was using and that she thought would help but was not pushy about me getting them... but I totally got the heat protetant and it works great. Before I left she had me sit back down and show me some ways to style my hair differetly with the tools I use. I was amazed! Nobody has ever taken the extra time to give me styling tips. She also told me that she does blow dries very inexpensively If i ever want to stop in to have her style my hair for a night out. Which I will definitely be having her do some time soon because I just loved my hair when she was done! It was exactly what I wanted. She really listened and you can just tell that she really takes pride in her work and she should! It's great! I could not be happier with my experience! Well, I have to agree with everyone here. I used to go to a stylist in Boston's financial district, but then her prices went up to about $90 per haircut. Mind you, I only cut and blow dry, I don't color or highlight my hair (so I can't justify paying so much to get my haircut). I decided to trust Yelp users and schedule an appointment with Jillian at this salon. Man am I happy about that!! The hair is perfect, even after washing it and styling it myself. I also liked that Jillian told me how to blow dry it so that the ends don't flip out. She also managed to trim my bangs perfectly (which is harder to find in a stylist than you would think). I will definitely be back. Also, I saw some other folks getting their hair done at the salon, and they were all looking pretty good and pretty happy with the results. read more

I come here to get my pixie cut with Phillip every 5 weeks. He's great! He is meticulous (which is essential for short cuts), friendly and funny. I've never been so happy with my haircut before! I will admit that I have longer, thicker hair than the average person. I usually go to the same amazing stylist at Salon Cu for a blow dry. She usually does it in 45 minutes with an excellent shampoo and condition with an awesome mini head massage. She blows it out pretty fast with a big round brush. It ends up looking great, lasts me almost a week, and she charges $35. Its amazing. However, this week the salon was booked solid and I really just wanted to not think about doing my own hair. I called up Dellaria in Davis Sqaure and explained what kind of hair I have and asked for a stylist who is experienced with this kind of hair. I was referred to Phil and showed up right on time at 1pm. My hair ended up looking pretty decent, smells great, and should last about a week. However, the experience wasn't great. While brushing my hair he pulls apart huge knots with no regard to how it might feel, brushed it out pretty hard, and while blow drying it he continued to throw pieces up in a clip and flip them, hitting my face and spraying water everywhere. The appointment overall took almost 1.5 hours. It takes a lot to make me upset and I usually have lots of patience and understanding. However after all this, I was charged $50 for a blow dry. I don't mind that the appointment took a long time or even that it was generally uncomfortable, but being charged $50 felt pretty bad. I gave 3 stars because my hair is pretty decent but I won't be coming back here. read more

I've received a number of color and cut services over the years from Julie H. and Gina E., both of whom are very personable, fun stylists who listen and deliver on client needs and wants. I've also been a sucker for the blow dry bundles that they offer, and have had great blow dry services from Briana M. My appointment was initially booked with a different stylist but Billy helped me instead, and I was very lucky to be matched with him. He did a GREAT job with my hair- took the time to work on my hair details to see what I need best and what suits me- far exceeded my expectations! However, while I had a positive experience, while I was there the guy who worked next to the chair I was in got a teenage client who had very thick, long, curly hair and he kept making (rather snarky) comments about her hair texture and how long it was going to take him. I went here for the first time about a month ago. I got a more experienced stylist for a few more dollars. With long curly hair, I realize I can appear a bit challenging. I asked for a trim and got very little taken off. So I went this a.m. and asked for a cheaper cut, since I only wanted 2 inches taken off. It ended up being closer to 3 - 4 which was shocking, but not as much as going home only to realize that one side was longer in the front than the other. I went back, was refunded my money at their suggestion, and had a 'master stylist' repair the hack job. I could have gone to Super Cuts for such a bad job. It will take a while to get used to such short hair that is now just to my shoulders. I doubt I will return. Per the Manager's comments to my post: I am shocked that you are putting this on the customer! In fact I asked specifically for 2 inches to be cut. When it appeared that more was being taken off, I checked in again with the stylist who assured me that it was indeed 2 inches which ended up being 4 inches. Also, I did not request an uneven cut that had to be fixed by someone else at your salon. read more

The hairdresser couldn't get me out of there fast enough--practically pushed me out of the chair without blow drying my hair (mind you this was a mid-Feb appointment so it was freezing out). When I got home and my hair had dried I realized that there were Z.E.R.O layers in my hair when I had asked for layers (and there were layers already in my hair). I was looking for a good hair stylist for a while and was very happy to find Kathryn in Dellaria. She does a really good job, making my hair have red-carpet quality cut, leaving it fresh, no split ends. I am very happy and definitely would advise her services to my friends. Their hair products though are not the best ones. Pricy and leave hair dull and very dry. Color products do damage hair a lot too, although the stylist would reflect exactly what you want. I would recommend Dellaria changing their line of products/color to the more tested and higher reviewed ones. Price is not everything. read more

I got a haircut at this location yesterday and was seen by Sotiria. My haircut was fine, but I lingered in the square after leaving. On my way back up the street I overheard Sotiria standing in front of the salon saying some rather unkind things about me, despite our previously pleasant exchange. I won't be going back. People can have whatever opinion of me they'd like, but it's unprofessional to be having it in uniform in front of your place of work. If you want to spend 40 dollars to be publicly gossiped about, this is a great place. Otherwise, I'd suggest steering clear of this location or at the very least, this stylist. read more

My hair was dry and damaged from the box hair colors I was using a few nights before making an appointment here. My hair felt ruined, so I looked in to smoothing treatments at salons. I did not want to spend too much money, so I tried this place. I got an appointment quick that very day on a Sunday. Which was great. I do not remember the lady that did my hair, but she was very nice. I told her my hair felt dry and my hair color was multicolored from the box dye. I also asked for a trim to cut off the dead ends. When she was done, my hair was jet black. (Which I could've just done myself to make it one color). My hair did feel very smooth and a lot healthier, but when I went to go check out, it came to $82 bucks! I later noticed on the receipt that I was charged for a "short cut" for $27 which I would not of had her cut the dead ends off if I knew I was paying the price of a full hair cut and style. Remind you, I did not even get my hair dried so I walked out with wet hair and the smoothing treatment was only $25. I probably will not be returning here due to the lack of work for the cost. read more

When I moved Boston I started looking for a great stylist. I'm a regular color/highlights person so finding someone good was important. I also literally grew up seeing one stylist and only 3 people have cut my hair in my whole life, and it makes me very careful and selective. I did a lot of research and found that Dellaria had a good reputation and good pricing. I actually went to Yelp to see whose name I saw the most and chose to see Michelle. She's been my stylist for over 6 months now and I am thrilled with every cut and color she has done, I will definitely be a long term client. The Davis Square location is smaller and only offers hair services, but it is a cute salon and everyone is always friendly. They are also very transparent with pricing, all of that info is online, but if you are debating between services I have heard nearly every stylist walk their clients through options while being upfront about pricing. read more

I experienced terrible customer service and did not even end up getting a haircut here. I called this morning and was told Erica could fit me in at 3pm. I arrived at 2:55 and none of the three girls at the front desk acknowledged or greeted me. They were openly eating at the reception desk. I felt very awkward having to approach them first and I felt like I was bothering them. They told me Erica would be right with me and I took a seat. The three receptionists went back to their lunch and chatting while sitting in the salon chairs. I waited until 3:12 and Erica still did not make an appearance. I was the ONLY customer in the salon at this time so it's not like she was overbooked or another stylist couldn't have helped me if she was running behind. I told them I would like to cancel my appointment since she was running late and the receptionist assured me Erica was coming and that she would be really quick. I told them I didn't want a quick haircut, I wanted her to take her time and do a good job but because of her tardiness I didn't think that would be possible today. They asked when I wanted to reschedule and I said I didn't want to and the receptionist visibly rolled her eyes at me. I will not be coming back to this location. I was unimpressed by seeing all the employees eating Chipotle at the front desk and at being kept waiting with no explanation for over 10 minutes. I also do not want a rushed cut from my stylist to compensate for her lateness. My experience was unprofessional and disappointing. read more
