We came here for our family trip with our 5 year old son. We were fortunate to have Cameron as our guide. We had a to wait a few minutes to actually get in the duck, since a group left as we arrived. The wait wasn't long and soon we were on our way. Cameron was funny, informative and kept everything really fun. The ride was bumpy, but it made it really exciting for my son. He kept saying how this was the best day ever. We love learning about the history of Lake Delton and hearing the corny jokes. Definitely would come back. read more

This is a very fun experience for the whole family. The tour takes about 1 hour including two lakes. I would definitely recommend this to friends and family. I would give it 5 stars but something doesn't sit well with me: at the end of our adventure we stopped and our guide (who was very professional) started to tell us how he and his colleagues are only paid a minimal wage like servers. They have to make their income from selling souvenir cards and "quackers". I would have gladly given a generous tip but not when asked and almost pressured for it. Pathetic cheesy guide who kept on cracking stupid jokes rather than telling us any informational stuff about the dells and the area. The boat motors are so loud we couldn't hear a thing anyway what the guide was saying....also had to cover our baby's ears terrified that the noise might damage her ears. Despite asking twice if the tour was suitable for babies no one mentioned it could be so loud. Pathetic management and yeah in the end to top it all the guide will shamelessly ask you for donation in a postcard scam. Avoid this place!! read more

This tour is exciting and relaxing. I enjoyed this tour very much. It is a little pricey and you do get bombarded to purchase photos and post cards at the end of the tour, but they are fine with a simple 'no thanks'. We did however tip the tour guide Todd, his colorful personality I believed added to the experience. He was funny and personable and very great with the kids. I purchased my tickets for this tour on a Groupon deal. I went with my husband, 16 year old step daughter,3 year old, and my 9 month old. The little kids were free. I didn't think my 9 month old would sit quietly through this, but he enjoyed and so did everyone else. Glad there was a Groupon for this. Normally each person is $22.50 which is too expensive for my liking. This is why I'm only giving 4 stars but with the deal it was definitely worth it. Josh was our tour guide. He was GREAT. This is a must do if you are in the Dells and if you want more excitement than The Ducks or other boat type tours. Also, make sure you are on the Captain Ron's Jet Boats, the original (red, white and blue boats). They do not sell their tickets at booths in downtown Dells and they DO NOT panhandle the passengers while you are stopped in the middle of the Wisconsin River. Tickets are only available at Sandy Shores which is about 3 miles outside the Dells on County Road N. You can reserve spots ahead of time by calling or going online. Score a coupon if you opt to reserve online. Granted 4 kids and 2 adults is not cheap, but it was worth every penny. We had Captain Ron, who was personable, knowledgeable, and full of corny jokes you couldn't help but laugh at. He did an excellent job of filling the "down time", when we had to be respectful of other boats or no wake zones, with extensive facts about the Dells history and local wildlife. You will get wet no matter where you are on the boat. No matter how cool you try to play it, Captain Ron will find a way to get every passenger wet. This made for lots of laughing for the kids and adults. Front row, seats towards the left, especially the first spot, will provide the best soaking. The speed of the boat plus the fast turns and stops are the thrill of the ride. Its funny to watch the jet skis converge in the boat's wake like "a swarm of mosquitoes". The hour and a half go by fast but it's money well spent, which is saying a lot when it comes to the Dells. Oh, and Captain Ron was very smooth about tips at the end of the ride. Passengers unload 1 row at a time and he assists anyone who needs it. During that time is when you can slip him a tip if you choose. There isn't any hard sell, no trinkets to purchase, no panhandling! Only clever hand painted signs discreetly located around the property, not on the boat, notifying you that its ok to tip. On a nice day with a decent current on the Wisconsin River its a fun way to see all the way from the Upper Dells to the dam in downtown Dells. Captain Ron's may not be the biggest jet boat business, but that's okay. Its the friendliest. We'll go again the next time we venture to the Dells. read more

Took a tour on 9-19-17 at 1pm . Ian was our driver and did a great job taking us around and giving us some great facts about the lake and river along with some of the houses around there . Also his joke were very good and had us all laughing . Also play some good music as we were going down the road back too the dock . A +++++ too Ian the driver of the duck . mediocre experience...don't forget to get discount coupons from their website and flyers all over the dells area...the most memorable was the scenery of the dells glacial park and the rock formations that's over 14.000 years old (but you an also experience this via boat or other tours)...don't be press into buying photos, take your own pictures instead...at least now, I can say i have been on a World War II era army duck, and the only danger i faced was inhaling the diesel fuel fumes... read more

If you're a geology fan, this is the tour to go to! The sights are incredible, and the fact that you're on a World War II DUKW makes it all the more fascinating. The one thing that I'd say is off was the cheesiness of the tour. The tourguide will make a lot of unfunny jokes, but then again, that up to personal preference. I am currently fighting my credit card charge with this company. Big disappointment. We were cheated, plain and simple. We signed up over the phone for two adults and two children for a May 4, 2017 Army Duck water tour of the Wisconsin Dells. I have been on this before, and I thought my kids would love it. The amphibious tour is in two parts, Lake Delton and the Wisconsin River. Part two of the trip is the most interesting because you pass by these fantastic rock formations up and down the Wisconsin River. Unfortunately, part 2 of the tour NEVER HAPPENED because "the river was too high." Instead, we sat on the banks of the river and the driver of the duck talked about the rock formations. We would NOT have purchased the tickets had we known that the most interesting part of the trip would not be happening. We were never told about the "high river" when I ordered the tickets over the phone. We were never told about the "high river" when we picked up our tickets at the box office. We were never told about the "high river" when we boarded the Army Duck. As I was getting off the Army Duck at the end of the tour, I mentioned to the driver: "I think they should have told us ahead that this was only a half-tour." "Oh they didn't?", he replied. I complained at the box office. All she said was, "Sorry, somebody should have told you." Make sure you ask if the river is high!!! Tourist beware! read more

There were 2 highlights of our trip and we bought them as a package. The Ducks ride was exceptional. Army Ducks is much better than the other Ducks. We took our family of 5 (mom/dad/9 yr old/2 yr old/6 months) on the tour and the kids really enjoyed it. I thought it was a bit overpriced for the experience (but I've felt the same way about most the attractions in the Dells). Our tour guide was funny and knowledgeable but the experience for me was ruined by the cheesy no class sales techniques at the end of the tour. Stoping the Duck to Hand out post cards and duck quackers and then asking for donations to pay for college was ridiculous. read more

Hour tour, most of the action on the way back, the driver we had this time wasn't as intense as the one we had prior...Stay in back if you don't want to get soaked, go up front if you do (or in the middle toward the front) and cover your digi cameras or they'll get attacked by Lake Delton. I have been riding the Ducks since I was a kid so for 30+ years. For me it never gets old, yes the drivers always tell corny jokes, and always hit you up for a tip when your done with the tour but its still a wonderful way to see Lake Delton, the Wi River, and the beautiful rock formations. Went this weekend (their last weekend for the season) The staff were super friendly, and even gave us blankets since it was only in the low 40s. I cant over state how much fun the Ducks are! Also I learned something this trip, you can drink beer on the ducks!!!! That alone made this trip thrilling!!! read more

We decided to take the trip on the ducks while we were in the Dells. It was a little pricey for what you get and be prepared to buy pictures at the end and to donate for the postcards. They do pick some kids to drive the boat so that was great for the 7 year old. I recommend picking up a coupon book to save a little money. read more

Great scenic and informative tour of Lake Delton. One of the things in the Dells any first timer here should not pass on. Our guide, Tyler was very informative and made the trip much more fun with his jokes and sense of humor. As far as some reviews complaining about being trapped into buying postcards, don't buy them, we still tipped the guide and told him keep the postcards, it's not like your trapped to buy them. read more

I took the Dells Army Duck tour last week and was pleasantly surprised. I had been on the "Original Wisconsin Ducks" before and wasn't expected too much of a difference between the two. Surprise, I was wrong. Our tour guide, Wil (Yes, he spells it with one "L") was hilarious and he let me "drive" to the boat, (Mind you, I'm eighteen and way beyond the age the kids who went before me) I also appreciate the lack of Minnesota Viking jabs. Also, this tour provided more of DUKW/WW2 history, which was way cooler than the other duck boat tour. When in doubt, go with the Dells Army Duck Tour. read more

Just went this morning for a tour with the fam and we had a great time! Jordan was our guide and he was AMAZING... he kept us laughing, gave plenty of information, and played some great song selections to boot! For anyone concerned about comfortability or space, there are backs to the seating so you can relax and be supported. Also, the seating accommodated someone who is in the upper 300 lbs in our group with no problems (sat as a single on the one of the chair/benches rather than with another person- worked out great). Figured it's worth mentioning so those concerns don't keep anyone from joining in on the fun. I HIGHLY recommend taking the tour- and grab Jordan as your guide if you can! read more
