Some truths about my car:…read more -At year 8 and 147K miles, it's a total money pit. -It has a S L O W oil leak. My oil should last 5000 miles. I get 3000 at best before it tells me it's low on oil. - I love it DOWN. YOU CAN PRY THE STICK SHIFT FROM MY COLD, DEAD HAND. ---- I was driving from Clinton to Trenton today (please respect my privacy) and I caught a low oil warning - add a quart immediately. Mind you, I already had to add a quart about 6 weeks ago. I wasn't too arsed as it was actually time for an oil change and I had been putting it off (see my recent review on Auto Zone for reference). I had a good experience at a VA Valvoline for the exact same need 18 months ago so I decided to find one of those vs risking another 60 mile drive home to my mechanic. I was hype that this location had strong reviews! I pulled right in and was in a bay within 3 minutes. These techs were familiar with the car and how to raise the hood. At a previous location they had to look it up on YouTube. Lord. Anyway, it was super painless and I was out in under 15 minutes. Here's what I loved: -quick -I don't have to get out of my car -which also means they don't walk through the waiting room and pull the bs yOu nEeD a nEW AiR fiLteR scheme a competitor likes to pull -coupons! Always check online first. My oil change was $15 off, coming in about $5 less than my mechanic. Which is kind of awesome seeing as this was basically an emergency stop. Note: my techs were chill and lowkey. There was another person there who was...a vocal fast talker. If you're not careful you'll get caught up in the frenzy of extra services. So just be aware. And come for what you came for and nothing else. 10/10 would come again. My car drove beautifully on the way home. Now, if I could only do something about the AC lmao. ::cough:: 5 shiny stars - would absolutely come again!

I arrived on a Wednesday afternoon around four o'clock, that hour when most human beings are either…read moreescaping work or pretending not to. I drove up to the new Valvoline Instant Oil Change in Hamilton Township, NJ and, miracle of miracles, pulled straight in. No waiting. No line of cars idling like livestock outside a slaughterhouse. Douglas explained the routine calmly, like people who had done this before and survived. I was told I would wait in my car during the service, asked if I had any questions, and then gently guided into the bay as if I were a guest of honor rather than a 9 year old Kia with trust issues. Douglas and another unseen companion in the pit got right to work on the car while the Assistant Manager, Dev, a young woman who clearly understands both oil and humanity, went over my options and gathered my information. And here's the thing that separates this place from many of your standard quick-lube joint full of mystery and regret: the staff are working right in front of you. No back rooms. No shenanigans. No "sir, your flux capacitor is leaking." They pulled the engine air filter and, at my request, the cabin air filter, held them up like evidence in a courtroom, and explained their condition plainly. They made recommendations based on mileage and service history from CarFax, told me the pricing up front, and somehow managed to make the sales pitch so low-pressure it practically apologized for existing. The entire process took maybe twenty minutes. Then I was done. Free to return to the world with clean synthetic oil and a renewed, if fragile, faith in modern civilization. The staff were friendly and professional. The service was fast. The facility was clean. I was beyond pleased, which is not a condition I achieve often or lightly.
