They tried to tell him he needed over $1000 worth of repairs to the air conditioner in his truck. He asked a neighbor to look at it as a last resort and the neighbor found a hose that was left disconnected. Hose was reconnected and problem solved for free! Do not use this place! read more

Inquired about 4 wheel alignment after a more local store recommended this store.I called was greeted politely on phone and they confirmed they could do the job figureing would be a delay but took me within 45 minutes. Showed diagram of issues and fixed them. They even applied a coupon being a senior everything helps. I didnt buy tires there and will bring my other vehicle on for alignment soon. Brought my car in for new brakes after being told I needed to replace both axles. Was also told I needed 4 new tires. Just brought my car to the dealership and was told my tires are no where near needing to be replaced as well as my brakes. To Begin with the techs and mechanics do excellent work no complaints. However, the front office on the other hand.. A week ago I popped in to make an appointment to get four new tires and the front brake's pads and rotors replaced. I did this to make sure they had the tires in and the parts they would need to complete the job quickly. I came in this week and drop my truck off at 8 AM. While I was waiting to get picked up - a mechanic took the truck for a test drive which at the time should've told me something was up. At 12 o'clock, I called to check on the vehicle with the front desk. Told me they were test driving my vehicle to check the front brakes for the vibrations and said they'd call me in a little bit. At 12:41 I got a phone call from the front desk telling me that the mechanic did find the vibration and it was caused by the rotors on my front brakes and that they would need to be replaced. I now realize what was going on.... They were trying to diagnose my wheel vibration problem - something I'd already don. I had asked for an appointment specifically to get them repaired. The front desk told me I'd be a little bit longer because they'd have to get the parts and replaced the brakes. I asked Why are they just now putting brakes on? That is what the appointment was for in the first place. He didn't have an answer. At 4PM - I call again and get a technician who tells me my car is just coming off of the alignment rack. I had not received any phone call from anyone authorizing an alignment to be done- in fact, I was under the impression when I checked the car in in the morning, but they would call me if it needed an alignment. Now it is 4:30 PM and my car is finally ready. 8 1/2 hours later. When I got there to pay the front desk staff who checked me in in the morning told me that they don't take a customers word for what needs to be done to a vehicle. DONT TAKE A CUSTOMER'S WORD??? Apparently that doesn't apply to getting tires but just everything else? I told him I made an appointment specifically to get the tires and the brakes replaced. I did that to help save time so that my car wouldn't be at the shop for the entire day. Needless to say that wasn't the case. So just understand if you're using this facility that the odds of you having to wait all day long for a set of tires and just the front set of brakes can take you all day. Sidenote, I got a email the day after telling me that I had missed my appointment. read more

I normally change my own oil, but having this Mavis down the street may have just changed that. I booked an appointment since I'm short on time before an upcoming 2,000+ mile road trip, and everything was seamless. All of the staff are super friendly, and they even called me the day before my appointment to let me know they have open bays and could take me right away if I had the time and wanted to get it done earlier. I drove over and they had my truck in for the oil change and a free tire rotation within about 5 minutes. Very fair price on the oil change, considering my truck took six quarts of synthetic blend. They also didn't try to hit me with a bunch of BS like a lot of places do, like pulling your air filter and trying to overcharge you for a new one or showing you gunk on your cap to try and upsell you to a "full engine flush" (looking at you, place that has the initials J L). With the service I received and the friendliness of the staff, I think I've got a new oil change process, and it's as easy as taking my truck here. read more

I am traveling counting an RV. Finding routine service is challenging. For recently needed oil change I called many place sound ocean county. 4 of the recommended Mavis in Plumsted. Even the other Mavis places did. Mostly because they have no idea what to expect in regards to size when you say it's an RV and Plumsted Mavis has lots of room plus it outside the crowded population centers so not as busy and you don't have to deal with traffic getting there. I called, great communication and next day I was there early and done and out and on my way 45 minutes. Got less than $60 for a 29 foot e-450 RV! Plenty of early morning shade for me and my two dogs to sit and wait in the yard. This was so easy I'm stopping here in my pass routine though of NJ if I'm even close to needing an oil change read more

Service was quick and speedy. Good customer service. Definitely would recommend this location. My tire pressure warning light turned on after about an hour drive during a weekend road trip. Having just gotten off the highway a few miles away, I stopped at the closest gas station to check tire pressure myself and was informed I would be unable to do so as the garage was closed and the "air gauge" was unavailable. Did a quick online search, and Mavis Cream Ridge was a five minute drive from my current location. Pulled up and within ten minutes had my tire pressure checked and calibrated, gratuitously. A handful of customers came through for scheduled maintenance while I was waiting and the staff was courteous and helpful to all of them. read more

I have a cut on my tire this morning while driving on Monmouth road.( be aware not drive on the shoulder...i hate those left over construction material). They got my tire checked and told me there's a cut and can't be fixed has to change a tire. I got protection plan purchased so I can call road assist to my dealer after knowing the fact this is not a small puncture. They did not charge me or anything I did appreciate the help and honesty they provided. read more

We took our truck to this place TWICE because the first time we had to get an alignment done. Our truck pulls to the right. Brought it back and the guy Bob was a total weenie. Had an attitude about needing the alignment fixed and didn't like the fact we didn't go over the 3000 mile limit it seemed like. Seemed annoyed it needed to be fixed for free. Said it was good & now the alignment is 10x worst and pulls more when driving or hitting the break. The steering wheel is crooked and one tire points out and the other points in, hence the reason why the pulling to the right. Guess I'll just have to go somewhere else.. but the lady that helped me the first time was really nice, so this doesn't apply to you. read more

mavis is a JOKE. they changed my tires and told me my struts were EXTREMELY bad and needed to be done, recommending it. i brought my car to my own personal mechanic and it was just my ball joints that had to be changed. so mavis was trying to charge me 800$ for something that didn't need to even be done.. thank god I took my car to someone else to get looked at or I would have been ripped off big time. read more

Stopped by on a rainy Sunday morning to get an oil change and have the tires rotated. This place lacks customer service. I got the impression that they could care less about my business. I shared that I recently moved to Cream Ridge, my profile with 2 cars was in the system. This was an opportunity for them to "develop " a relationship and have another customer. When I picked up the car, an older gentleman at the counter had an additude. I guess the oil change was fine but the wheel alignment was not. The car doesn't feel balanced like it did before the service. Although the location is convenient, I won't be back. I will take it somewhere else to have it serviced. read more

Found issues with my car that were not noticed by others and showed them to me. They let me know that something I thought was an issue that another shop told me was not an issue. These guys were super awesome! I work in retail and understand when someone comes in right before closing and asks for help how much dread goes through your mind. But these guys went above and beyond. I definitely don't recommend going somewhere right before they close and ask for a tire change, but mine was very flat and these guys still helped me out. Would NOT recommend this place. They are dishonest, and tried to scam me. They told me I needed the lower ball joints replaced in my tires and offered a "good deal" of ~$430, but after getting it checked out by a different mechanic, I found out the lower ball joints were perfectly fine and did not need to be replaced. I ordered tires online through Mavis and set an appointment 3 days later. Received a voicemail that there was an issue getting the tires in and to call them back. Upon calling back (multiple times because no one answers the phone) no one has a clue there. All they ask is who did you talk to. Finally was connected to whom supposedly left my voicemail (Frank? the manager) and he said he'd call me Monday when the tires arrived. No call Monday, no call Tuesday, finally a call Wednesday that the tires are in. I call back and they have no clue again. After a while they are able to find my name but nothing else. They ask for the tire information and inform me they don't have them. They offer to order and setup another appointment. Told them no... I'll go elsewhere. In summary, this particular location is poorly managed. read more

My family has been using these guys for a few years now, and I have to say I have always been more than satisfied. My father is an aircraft mechanic, and recommended I go there. He has spoken with them numerous times and seemed to agree with what they have said. They always give me a fair price and explanation on tires. This week I brought my car in and not only had them replace some tires, but check if my taillights were working (one was acting up) and to check my windshield washer motor, as it had stopped dispensing fluid. They called me a few hours later, gave me the update and price on my tires, and told me my tail light was only a minor issue and they were able to fix it no problem. The motor they said they would be more than happy to replace but it would take some extra time, and gave me the option to leave it overnight or come back later in the week to fix it. I opted to come get it as during x-mas, I need a car to run around for presents! They were more than accommodating by taking my card over the phone and leaving my car ready for me to pick up since I wouldn't be able to get there until after hours. My car was there, ready to go. I looked at the bill, and they had only charged me for the tires and tax. All of the balancing/rotations were free (I know a lot of places include this with two new tires, but it was still nice to see) and didn't charge a dime for fixing my tail light or checking my washer fluid motor. They were very polite the entire time, checked beforehand to see if I was eligible under warranty from the last time I got tires from them, and have a relatively quick turnaround time. Satisfied with personnel, but corporate has something to be desired. I bought brand new wheels for my ZO6 Corvette and new tires and dropped them off to be mounted and balanced. Specifically asked if they had the correct equipment to mount without causing any damage. All 4 wheels were damaged and I was told by the store manger that my choices are that the company would reimburse me for new ones or they can send them out to be repaired. Being that I spent $2K for new wheels and I had the option to purchase reconditioned wheels, I wanted new ones. After ordering new ones, the second day I received a phone call requesting pictures which I forwarded even after bringing the wheels to the store manager to verify the damage done. Third day I was requested to produce the receipt, which I forwarded. Day 4 corporate calls and claims that the manger spoke out of turn and my only option was a $500 rebate or they would send them out to be repaired. I explained I was guaranteed new wheels due to circumstances and corporate would not stand behind their store manager. No choice but to take them to small claims court. To be determined. I have spent thousands of dollars there in a few short months and over their poor decision they will never get another dime from me. Customer's beware at your own risk. There are far more reputable places to patronize. read more

Just paid $104. for an oil and filter change that usually cost me 29.95 at my dealer. If I had of known they were going to charge so damn much before I left my car, I wouldn't have. Talk about highway robbery. $46.49 for five quarts of oil then $30.for a filter and $11. in labor, then another $9.90 for another quart of oil. Where that went I don't know, but tax and all $104.21, I could have gotten three oil and filter changes almost anywhere for that. Needless to say they won't see any of my business in the near future. read more
