BE VERY CAREFUL IF YOU DEAL WITH THIS BREEDER. I can't speak to other complaint(s) but can about my own experience. As a lawyer by profession I tend to approach any major decision in the same manner I would a trial. Prepared with questions, emotions set aside and acutely aware of what I'm being told. In the fall of last year there was a litter advertised by this breeder so I called to enquire. I had spoken to a few other breeders during my search for a puppy and had my most pertinent questions prepared. At first I was told all puppies were spoken for, but, after speaking a short while, this breeder stated: "she liked the sound of me". My concerns started when this breeder stated she didn't want to bad mouth other poodle breeders, (namely the ones I mentioned I had already spoken to), but then went ahead and slandered them anyway. Without warning she started to ridicule one of the buyers on her list. Allegedly this buyer had asked questions that had annoyed this breeder. I was suddenly offered a puppy and told the other buyer would be put lower on the list. I was taken back and felt this was certainly underhanded and dishonest to say the least. It's still hard to understand how a breeder could be so flippant about her commitments and, more important, why she would openly gossip about one of her own customers with someone who was a virtual stranger to her. Her conduct was very unsettling and left me questioning the veracity of everything she had told me. I ended up buying from another kennel earlier this spring and have a wonderful puppy that I just adore. The breeder of my dog has been forthright and honest from my first conversation with her. Her dogs are gorgeous and her lines impeccable. She has never offered a disparaging word about any other breeder and has consistently been the consummate professional one would expect. She made the whole experience of buying a puppy an exciting and pleasant one, just as it should be. I can't say enough good things about her. I was invited to attend some dog shows this summer and had the chance to watch this exciting world. I have to admit, I also enjoyed showing off my puppy as well. When asked how and where I found my breeder I shared my story with others there. I heard numerous complaints, and, some rather damning comments about the owner of Delphinium Standard Poodles. Most were from her "alleged" peers but some were from potential buyers who had also contacted this breeder in the past. They too were left uneasy after speaking with Delphiniums. Recently, when discussing my story at a dinner party, I was encouraged to write a summary of my experience on Yelp. When I read the review from the man in Kelowna, my heart went out to him. I went today to meet my new beautiful male puppy from Penny at Delphinium Standard poodles in Nanaimo. The home setting for the puppies and dogs is everything one could hope to see when picking a new family member. Penny was wonderful and made the experience incredibly positive for us. Her puppies and dogs are well loved and have the best possible start in life. I read the one star review from the lawyer and must say I was not impressed with the person that wrote it. I am left feeling that the puppy this person did not choose from Penny's litter, had a lucky escape. This is my first standard poodle and Penny's dogs are not only stunning beautiful, but also have wonderful and calm temperaments. Health is also something that Penny has bred carefully into her line. We have a poodle from Delphinium and he is absolutely beauty and we fell in love with him immediately. The breeder has been nothing more than professional and you can tell that she truly loves all her dogs. Any questions regarding food, grooming etc. the breeder was amazing and very helpful....It is so unfortunate that only the bad is publicised and not the good. My girlfriend bought a puppy from this breeder last year. Her experience with this breeder was not good at all. As soon as Delphiniums got her money ... my girlfriend heard nothing more from her. The vet confirmed the puppy had a urinary track infection that was in "advanced" stages. The puppy had major anxiety for the first few months and was peeing everywhere and pooping on furniture. We took this puppy to obedience classes and still peeing and pooping in the house ... and on the furniture. We have now been through two years of stress but finally our dog has settled in. She is still very skittish at the slightest noise though. This breeder would not respond to any emails or phone calls. Never trust her. You are in for problems with her dogs and herself. read more

I Purchased my very first standard poodle ,in nov 2011,from Delphinum standard poodles ,,,,Our standard Sophia is a joy to us, is such an intelligent and sweet girl....I was very impressed by how well the puppies are home raised with alot of love and excellent upbringing....everywhere we go people ,she gets alot of attention to her good looks ,and people enquire to where we got her from.......we even have had visitors over stay with us and they all miss her , and would love a poodle like her......she is my dream dog .and is very smart comical, and loving.....many a time i think of adding another , and i would always go to Delphinium standard poodle,,,again for a quaility and sound standard.....delphinium standard poodles is a very reputable breeder and i would highly recommend ,,,Sophia loves all other dogs she doesnt bark at all much, she was so easy to housebreak, and is a dream in the car...she is crate trained and i know she had a very good upbringing all thanks to Delphuinium standard poodles read more

I purchased a 5 month old female puppy from Delphinium Kennels 1 year ago. She is my first Standard Poodle and I can say that I am extremely happy with her in every way!! She is smart, loving, eager to please and a quick learner. She is also beautiful and won Best of Breed and Best in Group at the age of barely 10 months old. She earned her Canine Good Neighbour on her first attempt. We are doing Rally right now as well as training to qualify her as a Therapy dog. My experience with Delphinium Kennels has been a positive one and I have to say, that Delphinium Kennels has beautiful, well rounded, intelligent dogs and Delphinium's health testing is impeccable. In fact a good friend of mine was so impressed with my pup and breeder that he recently adopted his first Standard Poodle from Delphinium and, like me, he is smitten :) Penny has always been very interested in how my pup was doing and was available for any questions that I had, she has a wonderful home setting for her dogs and pups and we have always been welcomed into her home with open arms anytime we visited. read more
