While we don't have clarity on everything that happened during his stay, what we do know is that he came home extremely hungry, nervous, suffering from stomach issues, reacting to his hind end, and no longer able to sleep through the night. These symptoms required immediate veterinary attention. Jenna experienced an emergency during the stay, and we had to retrieve our dog from her mother. However, all of his belongings--numerous toys, harness, and his medications--were lost. We did get his bed, which was covered in pee (cause for concern - not normal for our dog) & we threw it away. The medications were eventually sent back a week later, but the delay was extremely difficult given their importance. Additionally, Jenna's accounts of what happened were inconsistent and unreliable. It took over two months to even have a conversation with Jenna about the situation after following up consistently, during which she directly lied about the series of events. While I empathize with whatever personal challenges she may be facing, the fact remains that our dog suffered significant trauma under her care and we spent thousands of dollars. Her lack of communication and inability to responsibly manage the situation made a difficult situation even worse. Less important, but of note - this was an expensive board & train. We saw no evidence of any training, and given his clear stress - we actually had a lot of behavior regression. Based on this experience, I would not trust Jenna with the care of any animal. If she is unable to provide proper care or communicate during emergencies, she should not take on the responsibility of caring for pets.

Jenna is a vet technician who has a special interest in animal behavior so she also did an excellent job enforcing Merlins training and taught him new tricks during his stay ! We brought home a happy, healthy , clean and a better behaved dog at the end of our vacation. He's an indoor and outdoor cat however since raccoons have been around my area, I've started bringing my cat indoors at night. He managed to get out and ended up being in a fight with a stray cat. Once he was inside, my family and I noticed feces on him so my son washed him. Perhaps a drop of water got into his nasal cavity and he started having trouble breathing while gagging and retching. We thought he had something obstructing his throat. When we arrived to VCA, there were NO customers in the lobby which was a relief. The receptionist moved quickly, took our cat to the back and we were brought to a exam room to wait. Soon, we were told another pet was being seen before ours because the other pet needed care immediately. That's odd as a cat in breathing distress seems to be very urgent but apparently not at VCA hospital. The receptionist kept us abreast of what was happening until she came to tell us that she was closing our exam door because an aggressive dog was coming to the hospital. I appreciated that attention but once the door was closed, it seemed like we were forgotten. After a hour and twenty five minutes, I left the exam room to inquire from the receptionist desk at which point Dr. Haley Collins FINALLY came to our exam room. Her tone was crude and unfriendly. She was curt, unapologetic and relatively rude. She wasn't forthright with information to the point that I needed to ask questions about the costs. I asked her if she could detect if there was something in my cats throat to which she replied that my cat hissed at her. Hmm, that's what cats do. After she left my exam room, I overheard her exchange with the next customers (Caucasians) in the next room and she was very different with them as her attitude was pleasant, bubbly and energetic. She was gracious and friendly unlike what she presented us. I decided not to get the care from VCA hospital and paid the exam fee which Dr Collins didn't do. I basically paid for Dr Collins to be rude to me. It always preplexes and baffles me when other marginalized people like Asians are prejudice, intolerant, and rude to other marginalized people. I have been to VCA once before and I've never experienced this conduct from a vet. It was extremely disappointing and drastically contrary to what I experienced at SAGE hospital in Concord. Thank goodness for Yelp as people need to know how disrespected customers feel at some businesses with rude and prejudice "professionals". I paid a bit more at SAGE hospital in Concord and it was much farther from my house BUT the care I received was exceptional. VCA hospital took my exam fee $180.10 and did absolutely NOTHING. It just burns my soul knowing that businesses can charge you for no care. I wish I could give -

When I picked them up they seemed very happy and not terrified from being at the groomers, they did look and smell great. I really like that she told me exactly how it went- what they liked and what they were more wary of while getting groomed not the generic 'they did great' answer. They even put cute bandanas on them!! Other groomers would only do that to them when they were puppies- they don't care to do so once a dog is so big. Also, they don't automatically muzzle pitbulls just because they're pitbulls- unless a dog was being aggressive then I'm sure they would to protect themselves. Overall great experience & I will definitely be back!
