I have a1996 Dodge Ram 1500 and I had a family member install air bags on the rear so it wouldn't sag while carrying an old heavy cabover camper several years ago. The truck wheels were slightly off the ground during that installation, and the end result was the truck had a slightly raised rear end. All was fine for a few years, so I was surprised when the two part shaft lost it's center support one day while unladen. I had it replaced, but it happened again a couple years later. I was recommended to Delta Transmission this time, and they said because of the way the air bags were, that lengthened the distance between the Transmission and the rear end differential. This caused the breakdown of the center support, and just replacing that it would break again. For a bit more money than just replacing the support again they would install a solid shaft, and my problems would go away. The work that Delta Transmission performed seems great. It's been about a year since that install but because there's no longer a double piece drive shaft, there's no need for a center support. I'm thinking this is the price to pay for going cheap in the beginning, and because of the many years of experience that Delta Transmission crew have in solving unusual problems I'm lucky to have finally resolved the issue. read more

What an unbelievable find Delta transmission was it's almost impossible these days to find a good transmission shop as most of them are closing doors. These guys are amazing know what they are doing and are very reasonable. Delta Transmission rebuilt the AOD trans for $1500, which I then installed in my 66 Ranchero. When I was having the car dynotuned at another shop, they noticed some problems with the transmission and sent it back to Delta. They repaired it for an additional $500. Despite two repairs, the transmission is still leaking and when another shop repaired the leaks they discovered bits of metal in the pan that would suggest there could be future problems with the transmission. I have seen these wonderful ratings by other customers, but sadly, that has not been my experience. read more

I've reviewed Chet before regarding his work on my manual transmission as well as Master Cylinder. I'm updating my review to include my brake work. I not only stand by my previous review of excellence, fairness and expertise. At 90,000 miles, I needed new rotors and pad on all four wheels. Also, he noticed that my CV shaft was leaking and/or slowly failing. I had heard a clicking type noise when turning corners and that was the problem. A serious problem if not diagnosed and remedied. He performed all required work and actually charged me $100 less than the estimate since the CV problem was found during the brake job. As mentioned before in previous review, I find Chet, the owner of Delta Transmission to be every bit the professional and honest broker I've encountered in this area. I had a bad transmission YEARS ago. I went to EVERY shop and hired Chester because he was the best value. I was so IMPRESSED with him and his shop from that first experience, that I am now never afraid of a bad transmission because if it ever does happen, we know what to do! Here I am, 13 years later I own a fleet with 10 trucks he has now done a total of 4 transmissions for me and NO problems! One time I thought I needed one in one of our trucks he drove and looked at it and did a service and it is running strong STILL. He could have told me anything! THAT IS HONEST! I have had the same experience as Athena. I took my Escalade there over nine months ago had to take it back twice and to this day it's still not shifting correct. I called the shop that recommended me to Delta and he told me to just keep taking it back. But Chester is a very nice guy and I didn't want to feel as if I were harrassing him. So I had been trying to find another transmission shop and just take that 3500 lost as a learning experience, but it's hard to find a shop I can't even find a Ammco in Antioch. read more

I was having what I thought was transmission problems with my Chev Blazer. I was referred to Delta Transmission by a very trusted business, Big O Tires. Chet, the owner was my contact. We went for a test drive, with him driving the vehicle. While on the drive, we talked about his business and the main thing I got out of the conversation was that there are many shops that will sell a lot of unnecessary work. He will only sell you something IF and only IF it is necessary. I went there expecting to have to spend at least $2500.00. When he told me it was the fan clutch and the transmission was working perfectly I was absolutely delighted. This is a very trust worthy business. I highly recommend this shop. My daughter had bought her own, first car. Less than two weeks later, she was broken hearted when the transmission went out. I recently went in to have a perceived problem with my transmission checked and expected some type of work to be done but he was honest and said the transmission was fine. Instead he found that my shift cable was loose and that it was chaffing against the drive shaft of the vehicle and he fixed it "free of charge". This is an excellent shop. I brought my Mustang in to have the rear end gears upgraded after speaking with Chet on the phone. He quoted me a price (which was ~30% lower than the other shop I had called) and we set up an appointment. I dropped my car off first thing in the morning, and guess what? My car was done at the time Chet said it would be, and when I picked it up I was charged exactly what I was quoted. Extremely upset and dissapointed that my husband and I did not have the experience that everyone else has seemed to have with this company. This review is a year overdue, but needs to be said. My husband and I had brought our older cheverolet express van to Delta Transmission to have it inspected. Now, before we had it inspected we expressed to them (since they are a family owned shop) that this is our vehicle that provides for our young family and really need to get it running. Chester took it for a drive and came back to tell us that it definitely needs a new transmission and a tune up. However, he said that he does not perform the tune ups and only can change the transmission. We were ok with the what needed to be done based on his assesment. We paid about $2600 for a new transmission and picked it up basically running the same and was told we need to take it for the tune up. We had taken our van to a well known shop in antioch to be properly tested and it came back that it was in fact NOT just a tune up, but that it needed a whole new engine due to a hole in it. We were devastated. We just put everything we had into buying a new transmission and were under the impression it just needed a tune up as we were told. I called Delta Transmission very upset right after I found out the news to let them know and asked for some guidence into maybe trying to sell the transmission elsewhere. I spoke to a woman and was given no sympathy at all. She told me she has no idea and left it at that. Now since we have gotten back on our feet after this incident my husband had called to see if maybe since they are a "family shop" they could help us out and remove the transmission for us so that we could try to make whatever we could off it. He talked to Chester and reminded him of the situation and he was told that they could remove it for $300 and if we take it out it voids the warranty. I think this is ridiculous. We were told that it needed a transmission and tune up by him and he was WRONG. All we asked is if he can take it out and he wants to charge us. We NEVER not once called and asked for a refund of any type for him giving us false information and we just ate the loss and tried to recover from it the best we could. I think the least they could do after all of this was to take out the transmission for us. However, its apparent that we were just taken advantage of. I am dissapointed in the level of customer service here, especially with them being a "family shop". read more
