I was romping around Torrance and Gardena one day and decided to stop by at this park. I'm so glad I did!! I have driven past this park location on several occasions and always wondered about it. I always see local people walking about no matter when I pass by. To my surprise, parking was easy and free. It was also dog friendly which I appreciated. What I had no idea about was how well designed this park was until I stepped foot in it. It has two playground areas, bathrooms, grassy fields for people to play some sports, and a well paved and well marked trail with mile marker to exercise on. It has a moderate up and down hill as well as shaded trees to keep cool and comfortable. WOWza, I thought! And it's so clean inside!! Essentially, you can walk about 2 miles if you do 4 laps. Or a whole mile if you walk 2 laps. I think I can actually do 6 laps only because it was such a nice urban escape and people were polite. The dogs were also having a good time too and at no point I had to worry about some rogue dog owner with their unleashed dogs or something. 10/10 would return again in the future. I feel like this is a 3.5 star place. There's a playground for a big kids and a playground for smaller kids. If you have a tiny one, I still would be cautious about the play structure in the smaller playground area. I went down the slide with my toddler, and I almost fell mostly because it was so fast. Playground sets are probably geared for older kiddos, rather than toddlers. The swings are super squeaky, and definitely could use some WD-40. All of the play structures could definitely use some tender love. I love how diverse people who are here and everyone seems pretty friendly. read more

This park has a lot of potential. There is a nice circular path leading from the parking area to the playground that is great for getting your steps in. There is also a cute bridge and what I assume used to be a stream. I normally go to Wilson Park if I were to choose a park to walk at. We came here to check out the playground, like most parks there are two play areas, separating the younger kids from the older ones. The biggest issue I have with the playground is there is absolutely no shade. The first time we went the sun was beating down on us so we cut our visit short. Today I tried again because it's "autumn" and a cooler day. Sadly I feel the play structures all look old and in need of repair or just some fresh paint. One of the slides even had an evolving hole near the top. I think this park is great to take leisurely strolls but I would probably stick to other local parks if you're looking for newer play structures read more

The good: This park has a basketball court, two playgrounds (one for smaller kids and one for bigger kids), a 0.5 mile paved pathway for you to walk on, lots of grassy areas, shaded picnic benches, cute trees and squirrels and free parking. The grassy areas are perfect for picnicking. The playground floor is made of coarse sand. The willow-like trees made the area very whimsical and picturesque. The bad: The parking lot was full when we arrived and there's no side street parking areas. The playground fire truck wall was missing a steering wheel. It looks like there's a small creek area that goes underneath the small bridge but it's dry and full of plants. The interesting: Parts of the walkway area is narrow and looks like track flooring from a high school. I thought that was super neat. It's softer than cement so it's good for running. It also seems like a great spot for little kids to scooter. read more

[Review #251] 2018 Yelp 100 Challenge (14/100) Delthorne Park has lots of grassy areas, 2 play structures to separate the toddlers from the big kids, calisthenics work-out circuit for the adults & older kids, basketball court, a walking path (about 1/2-mi.), BBQ areas with picnic tables, & benches throughout the park to rest your weary legs. A few years ago, there was a small stream that ran through the park, but that highlighted feature is long gone. :-( Due to the limited parking, it's better to come in the late afternoon... for some reason, it's usually less crowded. We've taken the LOs to Delthorne Park a few times. Last spring when we were here, there was some construction near one of the play structures, which can be a hazard to the kids because some of the fencing fell over so I had to be a "helicopter mom" in case their curiosity caused them to wander over, which they did (sigh). :-| It's a decent park - except the occasional weirdo & the litter left behind - but for some reason, we're rarely here. This is an nice local park to visit for your daily walk, oxygen intake and exercise. Clean for the most part, it's a place that local older folks go to move their bodies and get some air. There's a small are for kids to play. I usually come here to eat my lunch or get my uber eats food. I also come to walk around, stay in the shades during summer as there's a lot of trees. read more

This is a solid park with plenty of grass to kick a soccer ball around, basketball area, cute play structure, and a cushy walking path all around the park with adult workout stations. We have been here 3 times. On the weekends it is bustling and feels super safe. On one occasion during the week in the afternoon, I was a bit nervous there. It was just my son and me and a bunch of random adult men without kids. One of them was sitting in the parking lot smoking weed. There were 2 other moms at the playground, or I would have turned around and left. Check out this park if you live nearby during the morning or on the weekends. read more

This is a small to medium sized park with limited parking spaces. The park curves down kind of like a bowl with a circular walkway around. On the NW side of the park is a sand area with swings and a small bridge. The bathrooms were dirty and need maintenance but that's typical of public parks. The grassy area is riddled with gopher holes and uneven surfaces which makes it dangerous to run around on risking twisting an ankle or other injuries. The park benches are weathered and the grills are greasy and dirty so not something I'd want to use. A nice park to walk around for brisk exercise and relax a little. I noticed a few dogs at the park but also saw dog poop on the grass which is irresponsible of the pet owners. Hopefully the city will make some efforts to provide some needed upkeep for locals to enjoy. read more

Cool park saw a lot of moms so I guess it's an older crowd has some good pull up bars but parking is far from them.

The park is nice and clean. I came here around 7am on a weekday for a run. I was really excited to run on the track because I had read so many good reviews here on Yelp. The track is nice but it is filled with older people who are walking very slowly so if you want to run I'd suggest going somewhere else! Also the "spongy track" is not consistent throughout so at times you are running on straight cement. read more

Delthorne Park is a nice place to go for relaxation, whether it's reading a novel, enjoying some time ourdoors, or even using the obstacle course they have here for a good workout. In the minus column, the park is fairly small, and parking can be virtually impossible in the early afternoons; there simply aren't anywhere near enough spots to accommodate all the people that want to come here most days :-( Years ago, there was a small river here that greatly enhanced the beauty of the venue. Nice quiet decent sized park. I like to come here to run every now and then. The parking lot is big enough but can fill up easy when it gets busy. But there's plenty of street parking available in the area. The running/walking track is well maintained and good for when I need a change of scenery for a run. read more

A nice little park with a basic work-out course. NIce spongy track with little pit stops to stretch and strength train. Many people from Healthcare Partners like to walk on their lunch break, but I always wonder why they don't come here, it's so close. A nice place to bring the kids, as I see many full-time mommies bringing babies here. I always see adorable small dogs here too. A fun place to play a game of corporate basketball too. This park has includes everything Torrance has to offer. A lovely view of the oil refinery and many many squirrels if you're fond of rabies. read more

This is a hidden gem in Torrance!! If you're looking for a walking park this is a great location for that. This small park has nice walking paths, two large play areas for kids and picnic areas throughout. It's not a very popular park which makes it even more relaxing! A park of about 9 acres on Madrona Ave, between Del Amo and Spencer. A i/2 mile all-weather jogging track runs along the western edge and has fitness/exercise stations spaced out along the way. The park also has picnic areas with barbecues, a playground, one basketball court and restrooms. The off-street parking lot is accessible from Spencer Street and only has one space for disabled parking. There is a stream that runs the length of the park, adjacent to the main walkway. My church volleyball group uses the grass area to set-up a net for games, since it's too small to play soccer or any other sport. So there's not much competition for the space, like there is at other parks in the area. read more

What's not to love about this park?! :) ~other than the lack of parking (there is usually a full lot as it's sort of small) ~and the super dry grass (cmon now we're in a drought) I think Delthorne has a lot to offer and is a great place to enjoy a morning/afternoon/evening. There is a basketball court, playgrounds, swings, large fields for activities such as capture-the-flag or hosting events, and grills. I've come here to have barbecues and meets ups, and this park has always been a cozy time. I think that the environment (cheerful/family friendly/many people out to exercise/other large events) contribute to that.. And of course my company :) It's smaller in scale in comparison to Wilson Park, but nonetheless a great park. They have a small bridge on one of the paths near the restroom, which goes over a dried up river (?). Come enjoy life's wonders here! read more

Went here as a child and continue to live near it. There are plenty of things to do here and I have a lot of childhood memories here. I've had at least 3 birthday parties here and one time when I was a kid I tied a jumprope to a tree on a hill to swing on it and the rope snapped and I fell and rolled down the hill, lol. I also remember dumping my goldfish into the pond. The only thing that's lame is that they drained the little river. YES, the river used to have water in it (a little) MANY years ago. It was cool. Not the biggest park, but I like the track and all the trees. I really have no idea if there is any other place in the Gardena area to go for a nice outdoor run (PLEASE let me know if you know of one!), so I come here. Actually, there is another park a few blocks north, but they have a dirt track which gets horribly muddy and uneven, and they barely have any trees so you feel like you're running in the desert. Not fun. Delthorne is the perfect place to go if you just want a quick dose of peace and quiet. No crying babies, screaming children, or rowdy loiterers. Just a few people relaxing on the sun-dappled grass, pushing a toddler on a swing, or taking a nice stroll or jog around the track. read more

I like coming to this park and reading a novel, or walking around. It is a nice place to go and relax. Theres a walkway and obstacle course good for exercise. Its a small park compared to others ive been to, but its good. The only negative about the park is that usually its hard to get a parking space in the afternoon between 12 pm-2pm. There are a few parking spots to accomodate the number of people that come here during warm weather and afternoons. What happened to the small river? This is a great small park to visit. The track does get congested depending what time you go during the day but walk around or avoid high traffic times. This is a park where you want to just come with the family and hang out, or come by yourself for some you time. When I don't feel like going to the gym but don't want to walk on the treadmill either...I stop by here and walk around the track a few times just to get some steps in. There is plenty of grass area to lay down or set up your own folding chairs/tables too. I wish they would fill the pond again but I don't blame the city for drying it up because of the high costs of maintenance and people continuously abuse the pond by dumping garbage and abandoning their turtles in it. This is not a very big park but it is great for taking a morning or evening stroll. It is great for families too. All throughout the park, there are places to stretch and instructions on how to do a particular exercise. It has two play areas for kid too with swings and slides. The place has beautiful trees and is very green. You can also use the picnic tables and barbecues. You have to reserve the tables in case you have more than 20 people in your group. Some construction has been going on one side of this park but it is almost over and this park is coming back to its usual self. read more

Good work out circuit with monkey bars and pull up bars. Great outdoor place to train for a Spartan or other obstacle course. Half mile walking path meanders through the park. It's a pretty good place for an outdoor gym workout. read more

This is a very nice park. 1) Picnic tables and BBQ's for paries 2) It has a very nice jog path that is quite frequented. 3) 1 full court basketball court. Finding a full court game is hit or miss, but you may be able to get a 3 on 3 together a little more easily. 4) There is a large section of flat wide open grass. I am new to the area and live a couple of blocks away from the Delthorne Park. The place has a nice scenery, small playground and a basketball court. If you have little children or like to play basketball it seems like a nice place for you. I personally use it to workout and jogg later during the night (around 9pm) almost every day. The place is very quiet at that time which is perfect if you like such a setting. During my workouts I usually encounter 5-10 people in the whole park which are usually working out as well or just walking by. The police station is just down the street from here... I think that means this park is free from any crime whatsoever. It has nice views of the Mobil refinery and YMCA Christmas tree lot [during December only]. read more

This is a really nice and clean park that has a great setup. We take our students from Brood 9 Martial Arts there to get ready for obstacle course racing because the 1/2 mile loop with different workout areas. It's great for working running and upper body strength. It does get pretty packed with people the later in the day you go, which makes it a little difficult for running the loop (people love to take up all the space there is). Parking lot is a little small, but have never had a problem finding parking there and in the neighborhood. But they have great Pull up bars, rings and monkey bars, to really help with upper body strength and if you are working on obstacle course racing it can't be beat. Will be going there much more often with our team from Brood 9. read more

Although , the area of the park is small , it has all it takes for a calisthenics workout ( decent pull up bars that are rust free, stretch squats and push up bars for all ages). Great park! Always full of life but never feels crowdy or noisy. Not so easy to bike through there as the sidewalks have lots of people strolling and generally wandering around. Bring a scooter instead. read more

Great spot to let the kids stretch their legs. My son had so much fun playing on the slides and swings. Nice area to have a BBQ as well.

From the pictures I was expecting a small little lake but what I got instead was a tiny lake (if you can call it that) with three ducks- which was ok for my two year old but I was a little disappointed. I guess at one point there was a stream of water running through the park but dried up. The park is more like a walking path and the park was overall kind of empty, except for the jungle gyms. There were two: one for small kids and the other for older kids. Both had sections for children to climb on as well as bridges, so not for the cautious child (my child is very cautious and only stuck to the slide near the steps). Anyhow, I came here on Thursday. The park is very close to houses and I guess all the residents come here to play with their kids and walk around. The community was mostly indian and a few asians and they were all very nice! I did keep a good eye on my son as the park is very close to the busy street of Hawthorne! read more

They have two jungle gyms with a total of NINE slides! They also have 2 swing sets and a 1/2 mile path. The park was VERY clean and had ample parking. Even though it is near a busy street, there was not really any traffic noise. My toddler and I will definitely by back. read more
