It's also right next to North Library so sometimes we do a combo park and library. The park is well maintained as all Torrance parks. The play area is firehouse themed so my son enjoys pretending to be a fireman. There are 4 swings, 2 smaller slides, and 1 bigger slide. The mulch flooring can be a little annoying, especially if not wearing closed shoes. Park also has a basketball court and baseball field. The grassy area is also often used for soccer and ultimate Frisbee on the weekends. Overall a great place for a kid to get some energy out and not bad for adults to run around a little too. It's very clean (and probably because it's locked up during off / closed hours). They have ample swings, one of the only parks with four (4) separate baby swings. The area in Lawndale is nice enough too, and it's tucked away in a somewhat secluded residential area. The playground equipment is nice and some are very new, modern and unique looking too. This sports a double wide slide too.

This park isn't packed with picnic tables of facilities, bbq's, bathrooms or drinking fountains, but it does have parking, it's clean and open. Only a few spots of shade and the whole thing is surrounded by a chain link fence. Could be because the park is in fact attached to William Green Elementary school. Not exactly a well rounded facility full park, but it's in a good location for a short walk or burning some calories.

It was a very dangerous and frustrating experience, and I plan to take a photo of the rider if this happens again. The park clearly has signs prohibiting biking on the pathways. Under Torrance's local ordinances, riding a Class 3 E-bike here is illegal and subject to fines. Even Class 1 or 2 E-bikes (and traditional bicycles) are only permitted on designated bike paths or roadways, making it illegal to ride them on sidewalks or within the park's walking areas.

The bigger kid play structure is pretty intricate, and has a lot of fun happenings. They have swings for both little kids and bigger kids as well. There's a big grassy area behind it, which is fantastic. The play structures themselves are in decent shape, for the location. The parents here seem pretty conscientious and engaged with their kids, which I really like. I would definitely come again.

It felt like about 90 at the beach, it's hot. But the park looked inviting with its beautiful shade trees. It's about an acre and a half, small, and has nothing but trees and grass, benches, a kids' playground, and restrooms. I like the old streetlamps, must be pretty at night. The kiddie play area has the oddest surface I've seen. It's squishy, like a thick sponge. I was unprepared when I stepped on it to take a photo and almost lost my balance. Seems like it would be a nice soft spot for a kid to fall. My pic of the sign tells more about it. This park is narrow, and runs for a block, through a residential 'hood. It's a nice cut-through for people heading to the plaza around Starbucks on 190th. And there were people enjoying the park today, even in the heat. A red-faced little boy was trying to reach the drinking fountain while his dad laid under a tree in the shade...... The posted sign got my attention, the sign that lists all the "don'ts" for the park: No dogs (true in every Redondo Beach park except the dog park). No bicycles. No ball playing. No skateboarding. No roller skates or roller blades. That's a lot of restrictions! If you come here, plan on just walking through and admiring the trees..... 10 photos are posted.

So this little park is tucked away in North Redondo. If you are riding your bike you can pick it up…read morenear the new North Redondo Bikeway. It's not a bad park. But unlike Valley Park or Veterans Park, for example, it's not a place to make a day of it. There's trees, grass, little benches, you can have a picnic there -maybe a reststop while you are out on a walk or a bike ride. But there's no barbecue pits and no open fires allowed. There's a little area with kid's things like a slide. And when I was there on a sunday afternoon there was a building that appeared to have restrooms but they were all locked up. It's got lots a shade, so like I said earlier, this isn't a bad place to have a picnic, just no barbecues or fires.

Wilson Park (refer to Review #10), favoring the latter because of their weekend activities: farmer's market & steamers train. I drafted a review shortly thereafter but haven't been able to finish with revisions in 2016 & 2021, so almost a decade later... this is it! Torrance Park isn't as active as Wilson Park, but one past summer (2021), Ultra! - Torrance Art Museum & Torrance Park hosted "Even The Trees Will Sing If We Are Quiet Enough" (for more details, refer to website: http://finishing-school-art.net/Even-The-Trees-Will-Sing-If-We-Are-Quiet-Enough). Even The Trees Will Sing If We Are Quiet Enough is a participatory sculpture project situated among various old-growth trees. The artwork can be described as sonified interspecies furniture constructed with recycled wood & electronic components. The aum-like buzzing vibrations transduced through the architectural forms are a livestream of the trees' living electrical signals that visitors can sound-bathe in during daylight hours. Visitors reported that the tree sounds are also reminiscent of cicadas & other insects heard in wooded areas. This interspecies collaboration fosters direct connection & gives voice & focus to these elder residents that commemorate time & existence and bears witness to local histories & provides comfort & wisdom. When my daughter was taking taekwondo, the studio held a summer picnic & awards ceremony at the Outdoor Band Shell. Other than that, we come here when Wilson Park is crowded. Torrance Park has similar amenities: reservable picnic area with decent shade, bouncer accessibility, BBQ, playground, baseball/softball diamond, basketball court & horseshoe courts (though not as many), restrooms (we haven't had to use it so I'm unsure if it's clean &/or stocked), but they don't have an indoor gym/facility. There's a small area that's kinda like a corn field maze, not sure of the plants to create this mini maze, that my kids enjoyed playing tag with each other & friends. There's plenty of parking off Arlington Ave., some street spaces on Santa Fe Ave., not sure if there's a private lot off Cabrillo Ave. on the park's east side near the field. The park isn't as maintained as I would like; my son was riding his bike along the uneven walking paths & flipped over, head first, crashing on the hard asphalt & badly injured his nose with some facial scratches. Luckily, he was wearing his helmet or it could have been worse. He was 3 or 4 YO at the time of the accident, & wasn't biking on 2-wheels really fast. Quite a few playgrounds use the soft rubbery surfacing to cushion falls, here it's still sand unlike the red tractor. It's strange that they would renovate that instead of the playground that likely has more kids running & jumping around with a higher probability of falls. When the kids were older, in elementary & middle school, we're rarely at the playground & use the open grassy area to play catch with either a baseball or football, jump rope. Our daughter is currently in high school, she sometimes practices flag & rifle (color guard) in the shade. In my kids' toddler days (2011 - 2017), there's been more happy (not really) wanderers loitering & sleeping at the park, & hooligans causing chaos & mischief so we limited our time here. It's been better now that they're older, & it feels safer now with more families around. Not our first pick, but it's a decent enough back-up for outdoor play & physical activities. Come out & play... & get some CA sunshine!

My kid enjoyed picking dandelions and little weed flowers from the grass here. The bad: The park feels s bit old. There are weeds and the equipment is a bit worn down. The interesting: We parked in a large parking lot across the street but there's also street parking around the park.

They'd rather stay indoors on computer, on phones (social media) or just lounge around watching tv. Life is happening all around you. Get up get out and get going. Plus, doing activities at the park is a healthy move keeps the kids actively involved in something rather it's playing basketball, passing a ball around, tag, roller skating, skate boarding, on the playground (monkey bars, slides, swings) etc. I miss this for the kids today. I'm so happy I gave two very active boys whose into sports (basketball) so why not take advantage! The park is where kids need to be doing living an active healthy life.

NOW THIS IS WHEN I WISH I COULD GIVE 0 STARS !!!!! Not to the park but to the Sherriff, Lawndale PD, and the local neighbors. They were very rude and racist. They sent police TO THE PUBLIC park (In which we paid to rent out the center), and they first made up a story that someone reported street racing *we were all parked and had been parked for hours* and then he came right back around trying to be apologetic about the reason we were there, he still said now that neighbors were reporting noise and DANCING. I didn't know dancing was a crime!!!!! Now just the week prior we were there for my Uncle who is of another race and there were no problems and the same things were occurring in the center and parking lot but now this time around it's African Americans and now it's an issue. They had a police car sitting adjacent to the park for the remainder of the event which made us feel harrassed and we ended up leaving our paid event due to being uncomfortable and afraid of what other lies an issues they were going to create. I WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN AND ONLYYYYYY BECAUSE OF THIS!!! If you need somewhere to book an event I would suggest them. There are new picnic tables, both uncovered and under a few gazebos (large and small). May be a good place for birthday parties. Kids can play in a sand-less playground (hallelujah!) and in the grassy areas. You can also check out balls to play with from staff members on-site. A workout area is available for adults. Restrooms are nice and clean... so far!
