My pool sweep needed a tune up so I took it where I bought it, Leslie's. After it sat for 7 weeks without being looked at, I called Demaray. I talked to Hollis and he said it should be a day turnaround. I took it in and it was done within 2 hours! It now works like new! It's pretty obvious that their lone technician, Anthony, is overworked, lazy, and desperately trying to get someone to notice, namely the company's management and/or owner. After calling him out to quote our leaks, he upsold us on a new filter housing due to the age of the gasket and the prior filter housing. The problem is: he never fixed the leaks, he replaced the filter but left the nut loose, didn't test the system, and intentionally changed the valve settings to run it with minimum pressure to hide the leaks. According to our cameras, he was only here for 26 minutes, and he walked back and forth to his truck at least 4 times. That's not time enough to replace the check valve, replace the flush valve, and replace the entire filter housing. That evening, I turned the three-way valve to the pressure-side vacuum, the PSI spiked to 20, and the whole thing started leaking. Now, we have a geyser-like leak coming out of the one-way valve, which was part of our originally quoted fix. The filter housing nut was left loose, which can cause decapitation (see my video and link below). The guy doesn't seem to care what harm he is causing to people or even if things work properly. Ironically, this is making him work harder, since he'll get called back out. There will be lawsuits in the future if he's the one doing fixes. This is a review of the store, as haven't used the pool service... They have everything you're likely to need for everyday maintenance, and they're reasonably priced for most. Counter service seems knowledgeable, though varies from interested and friendly to somewhat indifferent and uninterested. It's my pool shop of choice in Vacaville though and is better than the chain store across the freeway IMHO. All in all, they satisfy my pool maintenance needs just fine. read more

BUYER BEWARE we purchased a Pentair gas heater from the Demaray store in Vacaville approximately four years ago. We have only used the heater, at best 10 times we try to start it up a few days ago and it wasn't working. We spent over $4,200 plus $725.28 for labor for this unit, I called the Vacaville location and was told to go ahead and call a separate number that handles their install which is affiliated with the Vacaville store. I called and spoke to TAMMY. I told her what was going on with the unit and asked her if she could please send someone out to look at the unit. She told me that she would not be able to look at my information as their systems have been changed in 2023. She asked me if I had a receipt, I said I will find it easily because I wrote a check for the amount. I asked her if there is a warranty still with this unit and she had no information and then she proceeded to ask somebody that she was standing next to if I had a warranty and that person told her no, that it probably expired two years ago. She kept insisting that I call Pentair and go through them to see if there's anything that they could do. I asked her as a courtesy because I am a customer of the Vacaville store with not just the heating unit, but also chemicals and supplies if she could send somebody out to just look to see if maybe something came loose. She said she couldn't do that she would have to charge $130 to just come out and check, not service, just check to see if it's still connected. i told her that I don't want a service, just for someone to see if it's connected, that's all she said that it's $130. She kept referring me to call Pentair to get it settled. Even though I bout the unit and had it installed by them. I asked her if she could please just do a one time courtesy to come out and just check it before I start calling Pentair. She got extremely loud with me and rude and told me that there was nothing she can do. She just works there and I told her that at that point I didn't want any more of their help (which they weren't going to do anything anyway) and then she proceeded to call me a piece of shit. I have never called for any help from them in the four years that we have had this unit. She was completely unreasonable and unwilling to help at all. Demaray is very good at taking your money but not at helping their longtime customers. Their customer service is absolutely the worst. I thought I was doing a good thing by keeping the business local, but I learned my lesson. I will never go there for any chemicals anymore or parts or anything else, Tammy is absolutely horrible. read more

Have been a customer for many years. They generally have been reliable, but recently things seem to have changed. The last time our filter was back flushed, the diatomaceous earth was left all over the pool equipment area and backyard. This past week we were left a note stating we needed a separate pool vacuuming due to a yellow buildup (from neighbors tree). I simply turned up the suction and ran the pump for a few extra hours. The buildup was gone and the pool sparkled. If our service tech would have just suggested to run the pump and sweep a bit longer, instead of suggesting an extra service. I always use local businesses when I can and don't mind spending more for service., and I was going to buy 300.00 dollars worth of filters , but the price was 150.00 more than Amazon and I would have gladly paid 50.00 more to shop locally and now I think he raised the price because I mentioned Amazon. Wow! These guys are great!!! We just moved into a new house that has a pool and lucky for us, the pool was in good condition when we acquired it. It took us about a month to get settled in and realized that we better start getting familiarized with that giant body of water in the backyard. It was a little intimidating at first because several family members that have had pools in the past kept telling us that we had no idea how much work we were getting ourselves into. Upon reading the other stellar reviews, we decided to check out Demaray and man am I glad I did!!! Every person we have met so far is super friendly and welcoming. They are also incredibly informative and make you feel like you can handle the job, no problem. They gave us a bottle to bring back (so they could test our water and give us what we needed). I went in here earlier today because my pool had some yellow algae on the floor and walls. I had no idea how many gallons my pool was because I'm renting my house. I showed the man at the desk a picture of what was going on and told him I had yellow algae. He sold me some algicide and chlorine and instructed me on how to use it so I did what he said and now my pool looks great, and it only cost me like $20. read more

I had been having a problem with the suction on my pool filter. So I call Demaray and had them come out. The guy moved my basket from one hose to the other. Little more suction for a day, now none. When I got the invoice I called to see if they would reduce the bill since it wasn't fixed properly. The girl said she couldn't reduce the bill and that they really didn't work on above ground pools. If you own a salt pool do not use this company. They treated my salt pool as a regular chlorine pool al summer. The chemical smell was horrible. When we converted back to another company it cost $400 to clean and replace the appropriate salt cell and parts. read more

I was referred to Demaray from a competitor who did not have the part I needed to fix my pool vacuum that had been estimated at $45. When I went in, the technician looked at what was wrong, and then without a word he took about 5 minutes and solved the issue without using a single new part. He smiled at me when he was done and I said, "Was that it?" and he said it was fixed- no charge. I asked if he could charge me for the labor, but he declined. I also offered to buy him a coffee or something, but he declined and told me to have a nice day. He saved me $45! It can be hard to find a service person or retailer who is trustworthy, let alone do something so nice. I would give Demaray a zero star if possible. We just had our pool surface redone & the first week is all about the chemicals. The first day I got to the store at open time & no one was there. I waited for 45 minutes - no employees. I went back the next day & they tested my water sample & sold me what they said I needed. Because they were out of stock on liquid muriatic acid, I went to Leslie's Pool supply to get some, they tested my water & came up with different numbers. I went back to Leslie's for the next few days because I felt they were more professional & after consistent numbers I took the unnecessary product back to Demaray. The two men there were rude & unprofessional, would only agree to return one of the unnecessary items but not the other. I asked for his supervisors name & then was told he wouldn't take back any of the product because if I "was going to call about one I may as well call about the other." I called the supervisor, "Bill" who said he would address the unprofessionalism but he was more concerned that they had even offered to return anything at all. He went on to say they have to pay a disposal fee of anything they take back & he would lose money. I did ask if sometimes a company needs to do things at a cost for the sake of customer service & he went on to say he had enough loyal customers & was not worried about me. If you are looking for a new pool company or parts supplier I would recommend you take Bill at his word - he does NOT need any new customers. He has enough already. Be VERY careful if you get a quote from this company! I had a pool part that needed repair. Greg told me he could do it for $185 which I authorized. Two days later he left a message on my phone saying it would be $40 more because he couldn't get the part on which he based his first quote. I didn't respond because I was upset. I've worked as a general contractor for many years and you can't change your quote because you made a mistake! This is typical BAIT & SWITCH and is ILLEGAL. He called again the next day and I told him how unethical this is but in the end I agreed because I needed the part. He called later the same day and said it was ready. I went in to pick it up and Jens (I think that's his name) was wonderfully professional. He looked through the paperwork and asked me what it was about. I told him and he said what had happened wasn't right and he would write up a complaint for me. Then he went to the cash register and entered the information fro the paper and told me I now owed $270+/-! I was shocked and stunned. How could a repair go from $185 to $230 then to $275 with no authorization from me? Jens was very apologetic and again said he would write up a complaint. I ended up paying the money, but I will not use them again. I waited a few days to post this because I thought the company might contact me after they got the complaint, but I've heard nothing from them. Jens was wonderful and the other man working that day was too. But Greg and the company management are no better than scam artists. They certainly scammed me. read more
