we tried burj kunafa and look wise it was good but honestly I felt it was less in quantity compared to the price. it was all fresh strawberries with little bit of kunafa on side. so it was more like a strawberry with melted chocolate in top. Visited this establishment on Christmas Eve after attending a musical performance. Thought i would bring home some desserts for my son as all stores were closed due to the holiday schedule. We ordered a chocolate truffle cake x 2 and some other desserts. I will say, the price was over the top and the cake was very very subpar! How has this place stayed in business. Service was chaotic and appeared no system in place and really disinterested in where we should stand or sit to await our order. Never again folks. read more

The prices are crazy. $5.50 for a regular coffee. And it only gets worse from there. We walked out after waiting for service, going to speak with the hostess who sad she would send someone over and did not. we waited and they just kept cleaning table and seating more and more people. We came right before the big rush of people coming for dessert and coffee/tea. Didn't have to wait for a vacant table. i ordered the Red Velvet Cheesecake which was a fruity red velvet cake with layers of cream cheese frosting. It had belgian white chocolate sauce. Cake was a little dry. Latté was very good. Bf got the Crumb and Crumber which had a great Silk vanilla ice cream on the side and a cappuccino. It felt like a small scaled Dessert only cafe as the name is Caffée Demetres. You can also see at the front where they prepare your drinks. The colors of the dining are la weee purple and s lot of greens. The service was mostly good too. 1 point take off from a perfect score and evening here because : 1) The desserts especially if it had ice cream should be served on a chilled plate so the ice cream didn't melt too fast because it was warm inside and there was very strong bright lights. 2) The water "jug" was more like it should have been a vase. Water was coming out too quickly and splashing in the table. 3) Our server might be still new. She was good at first but after our plates were cleared and forgot about us and didn't ask if we wanted anything else it seems like,finally 30 minutes had passed and we were finally acknowledged by her and paid our bill. read more

The Dulce & Banana ice cream really is unlike any banana Ice Cream I've ever had. You can tell it was made with fresh bananas. The flavour was so rich. The dulce was a perfect combination and the Nutella was nicely hinted in there. My tastebuds were so happy. My mother (I took her for Mother's Day) had the Honey Vanilla and that was also good. There were light hints of honey swirls. The staff was so friendly and inviting. The made sure we were enjoying our ice cream. The decor inside was lovely! It's a very IG worthy place. A must try dessert spot with deliciously decadent desserts worth every penny. The inside is modern and clean, and the floral accents are a beautiful touch. The menu is extensive with puns for the options that add an extra special touch to the experience (I giggled a fair bit glancing over the choices). Our group chose the Katy Berry waffle sundae, the Puddin on the Ritz parfait, the Pomme Pilot waffle, and the Cocoa Ono cake with ice cream (but omitted the chocolate sauce). Each dessert was DIVINE and we all ate as much of our dessert as we could, but two of us couldn't finish. Our server was friendly and allowed us enough time to decide between the many options that caught my attention. Burlington Demetres' is literally the only Demetres I like. My boyfriend and I came here last Friday night around 9:30 PM and the place was still pretty busy (especially since it was raining). AMBIANCE: 3/5 ALL Demetres have this 'fun, bright, colourful' vibe for their restaurants that gives me a gigantic headache (I do think kids really enjoy the theme though). The restaurant is laid out in a unique way that have seating against a booth in the middle and along the edges of the wall - definitely ask for seating in the booths if you have children as there is so much movement in the restaurant (from people being seated to waiters carrying out orders) I really like how big the windows are as they let a lot of natural sunlight come in instead of using artificial lights to brighten up the room during the day. FOOD: 4/5 Demetres in Burlington is the only one of the chain that knows how to do their food right. 1. The Splitsonian Waffle: with Honey Vanilla Ice Cream & Fresh Strawberries & Sliced Bananas & Nutella The waffle here is fluffy but filling - they give you giant scoops of icecream and POURS on the sauce. The fruits are fresh and sweet so it doesn't clash with the rest of the dessert. 2. Chai Latte: This was a very average latte - with everything being okay (the Bean Bar makes a GREAT chai latte + presentation) SERVICE: 5/5 Our server, Mathias (?), was great. He made was efficient and friendly. He made sure to check up on us after our food was out. & he brought our bill out as soon as we asked for it. OVERALL: 3.5/5 Demetres is very decadent and pricey - it's a treat for once in a while to be worth it. The desserts are picture worthy but also means you're gaining 5 lbs. Newly renovated Demetres Burlington is always a great spot for the late night sweet cravings. Always busy and buzzing with people. This is an awesome place before or after watching a flick with your bros, girlfriend, wife, and kids. Great place for all ages and even better for the ones that have a sweet craving. I've been here many many times and it's always a treat. I'm like a kid in a candy shop with all these yummy crepes and waffles to choose from. I was told that their ice creams are made in house. The waffles are fluffy and sweet, the crepes are thin and filled with a generous serving of ice cream underneath. My go to drink of choice is the stormy weather. It's sweet but not overly sweet and it is topped fresh whipped cream. There's a shot or 2 of espresso in side and it's almost like a milkshake texture. I love the staff that work here as well. Everyone is so friendly it makes you feel like everyone is family. We had Heather as our server tonight and usually most times that we come. Great girl keeps all our glasses always topped up with water or coffee filled, always checking up if everything is ok or if we need anything additional. The staff always have a big smile on their face it's so enjoyable sitting here and everyone is happy, it makes the atmosphere just that much better with smiles across the face. Although it may take 30mins to drive out to Burlington, this is by far my favorite go to dessert place. This location has recently been renovated and the atmosphere is not only bright but it also reminds you of the summer (no matter how cold it is in the middle of February). I always order something different everytime I come and my dessert and beverage always tastes just as good as the last. I do not have much of a sweet tooth so when I come I always order a loose leaf tea to be paired with a crepe or waffle dessert. The service is exceptional. Super friendly and very attentive. Love the decor here, but the desserts were awful. We had the apple pie and it was absolutely terrible. It was very dry and crumbly and did not taste fresh at all. We also ordered the red velvet cheesecake and it had a very plain taste. It was just like eating sugar. The honey vanilla ice cream was also bland tasting. The service from these young individuals wasn't anything special. They really didn't seem into serving anyone. Prices are high here with the dessert dishes around $15 a plate. This place is literally amazing. It's always busy because that's how great it is. The manager Robert is also the best person there and a lot of the staff has been there for many years. I've been going here since I was in grade 8 of high school which is about 15 years or if not more. The menu has changed a few times over those years but their ice cream and their desserts are still spectacular. I recently went over the holiday. And I got an apple pie crepe it was phenomenal my mom got the banana split what she loved as well. every time I'm back home I try to go to demetres because it's just that amazing I really recommend that everyone comes here. But please be warned that not all branches are the same this one really is the best one that I've come across. read more

Continues to have a great selection of dessert options. Good portion sizes for most but the price of waffles and crepes has become a bit ridiculous. Service typically fast and most servers polite. My fav is the blush crepe but I replace the white chocolate with dark chocolate. I had a Chai Fall last time which was way too sweet. The cookie ice cream sandwich is a manageable dessert option for one person, and less pricey. I always have to share a crepe. We went last week for a piece of cheese cake and 2 lattes. When I went to pay the bill, it was $31. This is ridiculous for what we had. A group of four us on a double date decided to go somewhere different and this place came up in discussion. When we got there, it took the wait staff about 20 min to take our order and before acknowledging us, they asked us to move tables because the table that the four of us were at was to small. Although we were thankful for the gesture, the wait staff placed another group of four at the table we were at. After our order was taken, it took just under 30 min for our food to arrive compared to other tables who were seated after us, were given their food (sometimes the same dishes as us) sooner and more efficiently. Two of us ordered a tongue depressor, one on a waffle and another on a crâpe. The other two ordered slices of cake. Although we all agreed that our dishes were good and live large sizes, we also agreed that there was nothing special about the cakes or tongue depressors. My tongue depressor on a crêpe was intended to have melted ice cream in it. However my date, who ordered a tongue depressor on a waffle, also had melted ice cream and from previous research, we found out that should not have been the case. Our guests, who both ordered the same type of cheesecake, found it tasteful but overpriced and lacking uniqueness compared to the cost. As enjoying our tasteful but late meal, the artists in our group, noted that most of the modern art hanging inside the café, was either crooked or upside down. Now, if you're going to ask what way modern Art should face when it's a whole bunch of squares and circles and spots of paint on a piece of canvas, I would typically not be able to answer such a question. But when the signature of the artist is on canvas and is upside down, it just leads to the conclusion that the painting is upside down. This was the case with a few of the art pieces in the café. Coincidently, three of the four of us, are artists and one of witch studies art history, contemporary art, and artistic marketing. Therefore the lack of respect towards the artist and the paintings did annoy us. After completing our meal, it took a waitress 20 minutes to come and collect our plates. After which, it took the same waitress another 20 minutes to give our bill. When paying for the bill, we all agreed that no tip was deserving as we were there for one hour and forty min just to have desert. In all my experiences, I have left a tip. For my first time not leaving a tip and I don't feel bad. I do however regret not saying something to the manager. read more

Very busy and booming in there, but me and my family loved the ambiance! The menus are so fun and change frequently, but favourites always seem to stay. There's always lots of variety and yummy things to try. My daughter loves it and so does my son although I don't know if he ever gets to taste any, he always seems to spill! The only problem would be that the service was extremely slow. While it was indeed very busy, waiting as long as we did to be able to order anything was wildly inconvenient. It's loud in there and sitting doing nothing is fine for awhile but then the time really begins to add up. That being said, once our order was in, it wasn't long till we got what we ordered, and it was delicious and accurate to what we requested. My picky husband always asks for modifications and they are always very accommodating. When I say that the service was slow that is not to say the service was poor in itself. The lady who served me (I regret not grabbing her name!) was very kind and was very sorry for our long wait. Would definitely come again. This place is very accessible, right off of the highway - in Burlington, about 10 km - ish from DT Oakville. Best part? Tons of parking at night, and it's open late. It's got a nice patio too. This one's bigger than any of the Demetre cafes I've been to, and I have no complaints with the interior. Quite like the high ceilings, tasteful paintings on the wall and the colorful seating. I am not the one to complain about the prices as Demetre, primarily because I order to share and tip, others should too. Their portions are massive and I can't see that being healthy for anyone. read more

The menu overall is quite creative. The service however, is pretty bad. They are slow, inattentive and don't seem to care. Maybe the place is too busy for them to handle on Friday and Saturday nights but that's no excuse for bad service. Between the chocolate ice cream and the chocolate brownie, you will definitely get chocolate wasted. The Last Straw is a little lighter with Madagascar vanilla ice cream, fresh strawberries and strawberry coulis. It is phenomenal. There are tons with peanut butter, banana and Nutella. I love that there's even an apple crisp and a baklava crepe! They make ice cream sandwiches! Yum! Wish they had more options than just white chocolate macadamia but cookies to choose from. We went on a Sunday around 3:45, this isn't the first time we've been here but this place consistently delivers terrible customer service. There was a blonde girl with a ponytail who looked like she hated her life - I couldn't tell if she was a server as she kept walking around wiping the same table?? She initially sat us, gave attitude when I asked for a booth then we never saw her again at our table... except she kept wiping down the next table to ours...? No one came to our table for a good 15 minutes - it was quite a confusing but unfortunately, not surprising experience. It ended up being a male as our server, with his Calvin Klein boxers visible as he stood at our table. Beyond slow service, not busy on a Sunday. Total of 5 occupied tables with no large parties and they were still lagging. Not friendly, the employees look quite disgruntled. I wasn't expecting much, but we couldn't find anyone to take our order as the 2 people on the floor kept walking past us without making eye contact. For the food, it's decent but for the price - it's pretty overpriced for what you get. A waffle or crepe can easily serve 2. Good location. Next to the theater. Really good deserts price is fair for the large portion you receive, the drink prices are ridiculous for coffee, tea, etc. Every desert is delicious my personal favourite is brownie points. I was with a group of 5 including my self, we first got seated near a large group not much space for us. The manager or owner not sure who did ask us if we wanted to be relocated which was perfect. The wait staff did not seem like they cared which kinda sucks, decor on the walls needs to change, the new menu look is really nice much more organized and modern. read more
