The actual area itself is quite cute, and I like the way the interior was decorated. It has a very minimal vibe, but it really suits the place and the neighborhood. We got an Iced Americano, a Mortadella Scallion Pancake Sandwich, and a cocktail called Lovers Quarrel. The drinks were honestly pretty good and very much needed for the weather. The cocktail had this airy tart taste that perfectly matched the vibe of the drink. The sandwich itself was good, however it was extremely oily. The actual taste of the sandwich reminded me a lot more of Indian Omelets than Scallion Pancakes, but regardless, was still tasty, just wish it had less oil. They typically bring the drinks and food over to your table if you decide to sit at a table, which makes it a lot more convenient. The people working there were also doing an amazing job, so kudos to them. Overall not bad, maybe I might come back when it's cooler for the dessert items.

The beef oil noodles gave big chicken plate vibes (iykyk) but with beef Mushroom salad was a little different than the regular woodear salad - delish!! The main star of the show imo was the fried tangyuan - delicious creamy ice cream with a crispy mochi-y sesame ball of goodness!! Cant wait to come back and try their other items! Great cocktail list, great service, great vibes, smaller spot but has one bigger table to accommodate a bigger party! Also, didn't know but it's by the same team behind 888 in st marks!

Once they mentioned the charge, we told them we'd just take the cake home instead. They removed the candle and never gave it back, which felt unnecessary. I attached a photo of the cake--you can even see the holes where the candle had already been placed. After we finished dinner, we stayed for a few minutes to chat. The server kept walking by and giving us looks that made us feel like we were being rushed. Then a woman, who I think was the manager, came over again to remind us about the cake fee, even though we had already said we weren't eating it there. I completely understand if a restaurant has a cake-cutting fee, but it should be communicated upfront. I've never felt so unwelcome while celebrating a birthday. It's a shame because the food was good, but the service made the experience disappointing.

The staff greeted us right away and shared a little about what makes this place and the food so special. We had a pre-planned menu that was so good! And so much food! The flavors on everything continued to amaze the table. I could rant about the chicken, but I'll just put a plug in for the cheddar cornbread! Get it!! One thing I loved was the self-serve water station had two spouts--one for still and one for sparkling. Brilliant and thoughtful. So glad we came here!

The classic sando was pretty big and I really enjoyed how the crunchy chicken paired with the soy sauce pickles. The sandwich was perfectly moist from the juicy chicken and the house sauce and definitely worth a try when you come. (7.5/10) The salted egg chicken was super unique. I enjoyed how the umami taste of the salted egg and would definitely recommend this to those looking to try something new. (8/10) As a spice lover, the chili half chicken was definitely my favorite. The chili sauce that it is coated in was divine and you can tell that the chili oil is made in house with a unique taste. Also the half chicken came with both dark and white meat and both pieces were equally as tender and juicy. (9/10) The chicken salt fries were addicting and the dirty fried rice was one of my favorite parts of this meal. (8.5/10) The staff was super friendly and helpful with the menu and the seating is limited. Would definitely come back on my next trip to NY!
