Terrible made a reservation still was told we had an hour wait that turned into 2 hours and we just left

We just moved to TN and Demos was on the recommended list by our realtor and neighbors. We tried it the Friday after Christmas and it did not disappoint. Service from Anthony was SUPERB. He actually bumped this from 4 to 5 stars. I couldn't make my mind up on the soup - chicken rice house daily or the special tomato basil. He let me sample both! He also did us right with the delicious rolls (free with your meal btw). Even though the restaurant was packed our service felt like we were the only ones in the place. He was helpful, solid recommendations, but not over doing it. If you get Anthony you will get an "experience". Food was good and the menu allowed everyone in our group to get what they wanted. I had the lasagna which was delicious with not a bite left on the plate. And btw ... the chicken rice soup is flavorful and mild. I told my husband if I catch a cold he will need to come pick me up some of this soup! We will be back. read more

The food as always is delicious and served hot but the owners seriously need to open another location in this town, wait time at 8pm on a Wednesday night unreal!! Plus this place is packed @ 8:30pm. There have been many time that I have gone to another restaurant due to the wait. Today's meal was excellent and our server was fast and courteous. I did notice one thing that I feel might eventually hurt this business, something that wasn't here the last time I ate here. They have chosen to advertise their religious beliefs in several places in the restaurant. One was two boards in the waiting area and the other was the blaring Christian music on the restaurant speakers. While I am all for freedom speech and religion but a place of business is not a place to push your political or religious beliefs because you run the chance of alienating some of your clientele. In the case of politics you could potentially drive off half of your customers. Religion is a very decisive thing in this country, why do you think we have hundreds of different Baptist churches. That being said this is still one of my favorite places to dine and the food and service is always good. read more

It's really sad to see what used to be my favorite restaurant go downhill. It seems the food is not fresh, ingredients have changed and service is subpar. I have ordered takeout multiple times from here expecting it to be delicious as I was once used to and sadly get disappointed every time. The bread is burnt, not fresh. Just ordered a pan of rolls and they were all crusty brown and over baked, even the microwave at home didn't help and the flavor is definitely not the same as it used to be. The soup has no flavor anymore, the chicken inside it tastes rotten and there's no buttery taste as it once had. Even the amazing soft baked potatoes they once had are cold and hard, I probably won't bet returning here and it's a shame cause this place used to be really good. And it's a shame to see management fails to fix it/make changes or create a positive environment for the employees based on other reviews. Times have changed. read more

I really like demo's. The bread they give you before your meal is very soft and delicious, it can be very oily sometimes though. I always get the spaghetti alfredo, their alfredo sauce is just to die for and I really like it with their spaghetti noodles! their classic rice and chicken soup "the soup" is amazing. When I received my order the meat, and sauce were cold. I asked the waiter to have the meal heated. 15 minutes later, my plate returns and it is just like nothing was done. I took a bite of it and the meat was over fried and hard. Tasted terrible. Returned to waiter. No apology, and no refund, totally ignored. Manager didn't even come over. I have not been to Demos in a while but ordered what I have ordred 90% of the times I have eaten there - Meatball spaghetti with meat sauce nstead of marinara because the marinara makes me sick. The server replied, "I wil see if they can do that." I told her I always order it that way. She got attitude. A few minutes later she had nice customer service but the spaghetti came with marinara!!! I tried eating it and just could not so I told her. She said "well that's how it is made" I reminded her how i ordred it and she replied "oh I musinderstood" No she did not. She told me the manager would bring it. Themanager did bring it and said "Here" and that is it. Again the server end up being nice and serving but this was not a good experience and I did get sick from eating the part of the marinara that i did eat. I will say when they brought the correct one they brought dinner portion AND ONLY charged lunch portion. read more

Tried this place out for lunch today as coworkers have recommended this place. Got seated right away and our drinks quickly. We ordered our food which my husband got the ribeye sandwhich with hash browns since they weirdly didn't have fries and I got the Mexican spaghetti both came with salads. Salads were ok but drowning in ranch. The bread they brought out is the only thing that really had flavor. The food really didn't have any flavor and had a bland presentation. The staff was friendly and were quick with refills and clearing stuff away. The price compared to portion size is just alright. Parking is difficult very crowded lot. read more

The prices have gone up a considerable amount, and the portion sizes have noticeably shrunk. It seems they use smaller plates now than what they use to hide the fact that the portions are smaller. I've been going to this restaurant for 30+ years and it used to be my family's favorite and now we barely visit once a year. The quality had been going downhill. read more

The food is always consistent and great here. I had the hamburger steak with a salad and potato and loved it. The ambiance was a little lackluster where we were sitting but the service is great and people are friendly. It took a while to get our drinks but that's to be expected from time to time. We've been wanting to go here for a very long time, because it's supposedly a Nashville institution. But from the moment we got there until we left it was just chaos and bad food. People were screaming and hollering at each other in the badly designed parking lot. Markings on the pavement directing one way, but the opposite direction is the only way to actually go, so people stuck, having to back up, and an altercation happened. My car almost got smashed by an impatient driver. Signature The Soup was bland with mushy rice, no veg, just a watery cream broth and stringy chicken. I had to send my pasta back bc I was spitting hard bits of something??? out of my mouth from the chicken that was clearly made on a grill that hadn't been scraped and had remnants charred into it and the fettuccine noodles were glued together in twos and threes. Gross. My husband's steak was half gristle. I was charged an extra $3 for Caesar side salad that came with my meal, which makes no sense to charge that much more for a salad comprised of fewer ingredients than the house salad. And the whole time, the place is loud, crowded, rushing people in and out. Couldn't have relaxed for the meal even had the food been edible. Never going back. read more

First, the service was excellent. Tanner was very attentive. The food needed some with. Salad was just dressed spring mix. Fine. Soup was a chicken and rice that would have been 10 fold better as a wild rice instead of short grained minute rice. I had the Cajun chicken sandwich which screamed for a sauce. Just chicken, mozzarella lettuce and pickles. A Cajun Mayo or something would have elevated it. I had the cajun chicken pasta as a side and the noodles were overcooked and the chicken in the sauce was hammered. So far overcooked and dry. Wife had the cajun chicken baked potato which was fine. Ordered a grilled cheese for the little one. Looks like he made it. Sloppy. Side they served was hashbrowns which were just bagged frozen. They were fine. Our daughter was very excited to bring us to this restaurant while visiting from Florida. We were very disappointed. The salad was just a plate of lettuce with dressing. Their famous chicken soup was very bland and watery. When our meal came out, one of the pasta dishes was cold. The amount of food that we got for the price we paid was not comparable. My wife and I were there 2 days ago and this time we both ordered the soup and salad. The soup was barely warm again, instead of the dressing on the side, it was drowning in it. Live in Franklin but been craving some Demos' food. Have visited all of the locations for decades, including downtown Nashville. Service wasn't the problem, which you find in a lot of restaurants in today's world. We went Sunday right when they opened at 11. Soup was tepid, ordered their famous hashbrowns - they were literally cold. Cheese bread very small portion and even their regular yummy bread was small and not hot like it used to be. Main entree was just okay. Quality of food just not there. A man and a woman came by to see if everything was ok - but they moved past our table every time before we even answered. Just a 'have to do this' type of checking in. At least it cured my craving. My husband and I both agreed, not a place we want to revisit. read more

My first Demos' experience was in my pre-Yelp days at their downtown Nashville location. I cannot recall enough of that meal to make much of a comment other than the pasta was "eh" - which is my point. I don't remember anything stellar about that meal. Some years later, I excitedly drove all the way from Nashville to Murfreesboro for a large group dinner at this location. Nashville had just turned the corner into a full-on culinary explosion around that time, and in hearing Murfreesboro residents talk about Demos' you'd think it was Michelin Star rated. Sadly, I recall leaving dinner that evening less than impressed and fairly irritated I had just driven so far for such a lackluster meal. Fast forward to 2019 and seeking something different than the norm, I realized it was time to give Demos' another go. We arrived at the tail-end of the dinner crowd, so we were seated right away. Our server immediately greeted us, and shortly thereafter brought waters. She also brought a bar list upon request. From beginning to end, the service was outstanding. So yeah, at one point she forgot one item. But hey, she realized it, quickly rectified it, and apologized more than once. They're in the process of replacing their draft and soda system, but prior to the change only two drafts were listed on their menu. (To be fair, I did not ask if they will have more after the new system is installed.) I ordered a $6.00 glass of red wine that was quite tasty and served in the cleanest glass and carafe I think I have ever seen. The only drawback is the wine glass was really warm. I'm not a wine snob, so it was not a big deal to me but I know it could be to some. I asked our server what she thought about several menu items, and I genuinely appreciate her honesty. I decided to go for their 7 oz. Hamburger Steak with their Homemade Hash Browns as my side. This particular entrée is also served with a salad or soup. Since I eat LOTS of salads, I was interested in the soup but did not see it anywhere on the menu. The server kind of chuckled and said the soup is chicken and rice called "Baked Chicken Soup" (so I'm guessing their soup is the same all of the time.) In the interest of mixing it up, I opted to try it. While waiting for our food, I observed they have the cleanest windows; totally spotless. I watched the servers clean the tables, and I was impressed at how thorough they all are. Yet I received dirty silverware! So the food: The bread tasted really weird to me, like bad weird. The soup was ok, and improved to being quite tasty with fresh ground pepper added. The Hamburger Steak was greasy and not flavorful. And the Hash Browns...ugh. Not very good either. Also incredibly greasy and not flavorful. The server noticed I was picking at my food and offered to bring me something else, but I graciously declined. (Though I'll have you know, after reheating both of these items in the oven the next day, they tasted SO much better!) Ultimately, I don't get it. I mean...gah...I want to! But I just don't get it. As most Yelpers, I have a great fondness for any Mom n' Pop type place that essentially raised the original foodies; the places who have managed to survive the chain-restaurant era and now victorious on the other side. Everything was great. Dylan was on top of everything. We were returning back front Monteagle and your were the 4th stop we made so we were starving. Salads were cold and crisp, entree (steak and pork chops) were juicy and tasty. We saw you had plenty of staff even before closing time. So I called a friend of mine in Memphis whose daughter had attended MTSU because I knew my friend would know some great places to eat lunch in Murfreesboro as I was traveling back to Memphis from East Tennessee. She CRUSHED it my friend. CRUSHED. IT. Demos' is a wonderful restaurant that's family-owned and operated for 30 years! It has four brick and mortar locations, and it now has a food truck (to serve the other side of Murfreesboro which has to travel a long way to this store!). Cherina was my server and she did a great job. She was polite and explained all of the options. I started with the samples of the spaghetti sauces (recommended by my friend). Demos' has SEVEN different homemade sauces that are amazing. While I liked them all, I preferred the blackened chicken sauce and the meat sauce. Oh, and they bring you this amazing bread for dipping in the sauces which by itself was killer good. The soup was a house favorite of chicken and rice (Italian version) and was served piping hot and delicious. Cherina said people order the soup to go because it's so popular. I ordered the blackened chicken sauce which came with fettuccini noodles and bits of chicken which was divine! It was so flavorful with a smokey flavor and just the right consistency. Very abysmal food. Not bad though... just very homely. The waiting area reeked of cigarettes and the place is a bit of a mess. It's weird because it's actually kind of nice (by no means upscale but casual) but they have bar men in hoodies and girls walking around with 90's grunge style flannel and boots look hosting and bussing tables. The food is simple but they give good portions and inexpensive. The steak could have actually been good but was very much overcooked. Good seasoning but a cheap cut overcooked can't be much tougher or dryer. Ordered rare and got medium well. Friendly service. read more

Really good to find great food on the road! This family run restaurant came highly recommend and now I know why! Starting off with the great service from my server Hayden with his fabulous hair and excellent service! He suggested to try the sauces since it was my first time and I feel in love with the blackened chicken sauce and ordered it on my pasta. It was really hard to choose, they were all very good! The Jim famous spinach was also excellent and an a great addition to my meal. I choose the salad since they use farm to table and with the home made ranch it was delicious! I really don't understand the attraction here. Some folks rave about their chicken soup. My opinion is that I suspect there are plenty of Campbell's chicken soup cans in their stockroom. Since their entrees are so bland tasting, I'd suggest having more spice bottles on the table along with the salt and pepper. read more

You can get more hours and money at Waffle House. I worked at Demo's for a year and a half, and have worked at Waffle House for only a month and have already made more in 2 weeks than I did in a month there. There's something to be said about corporate owned businesses as opposed to family owned. There is no tip share at Waffle house, unlike Demo's, and people tip way better at WH too. When I worked at Demo's I had to train people that got hired on getting paid more than I was even though I had worked there longer. The only reward for training is a single free meal. At WH there is a 3 day training course and multiple free meals per shift. Do yourself a favor and don't even bother, you'll only end up angry.​ read more
