First time visiting Dempsey's Burger Pub on a Saturday, and unfortunately, it will be my last. It took 47 minutes to receive two burgers and two sliders and fries, which is already frustrating--but the experience didn't improve from there. The truffle fries were brought out cold before the burgers even arrived, and nothing we were served was hot. I also ordered sweet potato fries and was told later they had run out, yet I was still charged for them. That should have been caught and corrected without me having to say anything. On top of that, the atmosphere didn't help. There was a group behind us yelling the entire time, making it hard to enjoy the meal at all. Our waitress seemed overwhelmed, which I can empathize with, but overall the service and execution just weren't there. Between the long wait, cold food, incorrect charge, and chaotic environment, this was not a good experience. I won't be returning. read more

We stopped in for a nice burger for lunch. The beef was very good, always important for a burger! We had two of the old fashioned burgers and a mushroom bacon & swiss. All were top notch burgers. The fries were also outstanding. The 3 of us had 2 orders and it was much more than we should have ordered, with the generous sized burgers. i love a filthy little slider and these mini gems are ready to satisfy. It doesn't take much to get you going with these, just a couple of the bois and you will be plumped. The excellent crunch of the pickle to the soft bun you just want to sink your teeth into dozens of these. Paired with the delicious fries - gotta get that sauce. This was our 1st time to Kansas and Dempsey's came recommended by our hotel for the best burgers. When we first walked in, Isabella greeted us, she was so friendly. She cleaned off a table and sat us down quickly. Jesse G. Was our server. She was friendly and very attentive. She had our burger cut in half and split into separate baskets even our fries were split too. The mushroom Swiss burger was perfectly cooked with mushrooms in every bite. We got truffle fries with our burger and it was so good. I think the starter we got, beer cheese dip was such a unique taste. We preferred the pretzel sticks over the fries with it. We saw online you were open until 2:00. Found a parking place a bit from the entrance- get in to the restaurant and they said "sorry Kitchen closes early on Sunday". Put it on your online hours. Five stars for the food and service. Our server was lovely, kind, checked in multiple times, and aided with understanding the menu. However, I audibly heard the back of house cooks saying the f-slur, a very outdated and offensive word, with the whole restaurant able to hear. They disregarded it, didn't even understand the damage they were doing. The supposedly "house-made" pink lemonade is without a doubt Brisk's Pink Lemonade. Stopped here for lunch. It is in a little area that used to be houses but is now a shopping area, parking is limited. It was busy but we were seated fairly quickly. We sat upstairs but it appeared there was also seating downstairs. There are tables also on an outside deck. Staff was quick to take drink orders and followed up with the food order. We tried the grilled pineapple wings, the spin dip, burgers and fries. The wings were crispy and steaming hot when they arrived. A little disappointed in the taste because all we could get from them was a mild buffalo. Spin dip was served with soft pretzels and tortilla chips. It was very good, but all that can was two small containers of it. The amount didn't justify the price. I ordered the burger that was the special. Angus burger with bacon, cheese, onion rings, a house made Guinness reduction and micro greens on a pretzel bun. It was very good, and very good sized. My dining partner got the bacon Swiss burger and said it was good. They have different types of fries toner separately. I got the duck fat fries and my partner got the fire fries. Both sets of fries were tough and I couldn't tell the difference between duck fat fried and regular fried, but you got a lot of them. Also of note, they up charge you to use a card to pay do take cash if you can because the prices are a little on the higher side. All in all a good place to get a meal, just take cash. read more

Took out an order from Dempsey's having heard a lot of great things about this place. Our meal was well short of decent. I don't mind if burgers are overcooked to order, but the meat was dry. Surprising for american wagyu. Not only that, this place did not season their meat. No taste of salt or pepper on the beef. Lastly, the fries were fried to a crisp. They were inedible. It was like biting on cardboard. I will give this establishment another try. It is July 4th and they were more than busy. Absolutely horrible service! The girl that seated us was sweet but we waited ten minutes with no acknowledgement or eye contact as two servers served guest who were seated after us. We were completely bypassed and ignored! It's truly a shame because it looked like good food and we left very offended and upset. The hostess set a great tone and those two servers ruined the entire experience! I will never return because the service is horrific and if that's how the servers are then I'm not sure about the food or what the servers may do to it! Do better! Your servers clearly need some education on proper etiquette and service! It's common courtesy to at least say you will be with us soon even though we were seated prior that at least would have made it acceptable and we would have stayed but we didn't even get that. That's just unbelievable and it's honestly abhorrent behavior coming from servers! By the way we tip well when we are served well. So they played themselves! read more

We sat on the patio on an overcast day. The server came out and said "if it starts to rain I'm not coming out here. Our policy states if it rains and you're sitting on the patio, we box your food up and you can leave." We left and ate on a patio somewhere else. It did not rain. We've been patrons of Dempsey's for at least 6 years and recommend it to others, but tonight will probably be the last time we eat there due to the very poor service from the waitress. We were seated and waited a good while for the waitress to acknowledge we were there. We asked for water to drink and waited and waited, so I asked the hostess if she could get us water. The waitress came by and told us we needed to be patient they were learning a new system. After that she was short, did not ask if everything was okay or offer any drink refills. She left the check on the table without looking, no thank you, eye contact or anything. She was the most unfriendly server I've ever had. While we were eating, a line formed at the door with customers holding the door open continuously which let the cold air in. The hostess should've managed this better; another waiter finally asked the customers to shut the door. Overall, it seemed like we were an inconvenience to the restaurant not a customer. Reading reviews i walked in with high hopes to be extremely let down and disappointed. The staff was very rude and not attentive at all. Waited 45 minutes to get our drinks, a little over 2 hours for our food and I ordered an appetizer just to never received it. We ordered our burgers at med-well and medium. It's Mother's Day, and our family of 15 came ready to celebrate -- but you turned us away because "your kitchen couldn't handle it" and it "wouldn't be fair to other patrons." We even offered to split into smaller groups of 4-5, and you still said no. Yet while we stood there, we watched you seat other tables of 5-8 people without an issue. I'm not sure if they were just having an off night, but the restaurant was packed and we ended up waiting about an hour for our food. When it finally came, the burger was underwhelming and the French fries were cold and stale. Our server also seemed unfriendly, which made the experience less enjoyable. I didn't want to send anything back because I was afraid it would mean another long wait. I really wanted to like this place -- the food coming out to other tables looked great -- but our visit was disappointing overall. Got the mushroom swiss and almost three weeks later, I can still remember the flavor of the beef, which speaks volumes to the fantastic quality and skill of the cooks. Good stuff. The mushrooms were also a standout, not your typical little grocery shrooms. The truffle fries left something to be desired. The cheese was just tenderils of grated cheese all over the potatoes, not melted, actually kind of cold. I ended up taking off most it and setting it aside. And the fries were just alright. After tasting my friends' sweet potato fries, I really wish I had had those instead. Drinks were fabulous. Service was nice enough, I suppose, but could be warmer. This is a go to place in Wichita. Located in the downtown college district surrounded by great architecture and beautiful landscaping this little joint serves amazing burgers and fries. It can be a little loud but it is always crowded. Outdoor seating for nice days but two levels inside to accommodate for a larger number of people. The kitchen is quick without sacrificing quality. My burger was cooked to the temperature I requested. This burger has tortilla chips, rotel cheese, bacon, cheddar, and an avocado blend. The flavor was bursting. The burger juicy and it was just great. The duck fat fries are always good and the only drawback is the order is large. Cost is around $8 but the duck fat makes the smaller, thinner fries real crispy while making the larger fries soft without being mushy. This order plus a draft beer with a $6,40 tip came out to $40 even. Definitely worth it. I highly recommend this place if you're in Wichita. read more

One of my favorite places in Wichita- my go to place for when people visit. Pro tip: get the blueberry moscow mule! If there's a wait for a table and it's semi-warm out, grab a drink from the bar and wait outside for your table. The wings are my favorite, but any and all of the burgers are fantastic! The fries are great too! The duck-fat French fries don't taste that different to me all the time, so I'd recommend it once but maybe stick with the regular fries after. Parking is right there but may be difficult to get a spot during peak hours. Keep that in mind! read more

Been here a good amount of times and the food quality is too inconsistent and the service has been mostly been terrible. When they make the food right, it is pretty decent! But more times than not I've gotten cold, stale, and hard fries. One time I waited nearly 2 hours and the blonde kid up front never texted or called us in. Another time, I came with a group and was turned away AFTER we all waited 40 minutes. We had a party of 11 and after waiting all that time they said they can't seat a party larger 10 so we offered to split into smaller groups of 5 and 6, but they simply just refused to serve us at all. Mind you, there was plenty of seating available and it was 7pm on a weekday. They're not that good to be treating people like that. read more

Food never disappoints here. We shared a spinach dip appetizer as well as a sweet potato fry basket between four adults and two children. We had some burgers which were yummy as usual. Hubs and I shared mushroom Swiss on pretzel bun. Yummy The other burger at our table was a ginormous double stacked loaded with fresh veggies. The children shared sliders. Women's bathroom lock does not latch no matter how hard you push the door shut. They were not fazed by the young children and even helped us pick up a water spill. Heineken 0 (non-alcoholic beer) was super. Gave me a glass upon request but it was not chilled. The guys had some local beer on tap which they enjoyed. If you are craving a tasty burger or cobb salad (which we have also enjoyed here), then give this spot a try. read more
