Total tourist trap rip-off. Ordered the fish and chips, and for the price, it felt like an absolute scam. It came out with the tiniest pieces of fish I have ever seen on a plate. To make it worse, the beer servings were full price for not even a 6oz pour. An absolute waste of money. The service was fast but completely robotic; I could tell the server knew the portions were a joke because they actively avoided asking if I was satisfied with the food when checking on the table. Husband and I have been Alaskan residents for the past 4 years now? We decided to do a weekend getaway and happened to spot this place. Like any other brewery here in Alaska, we went in kind of with the assumption like it would be any other place. How we were so wrong. As a former Yelp Elite, these food reviews and experiences do a lot for visitors, travelers, and even residents who decide to be tourists for a day. Customer service is an all time necessity. People come to Alaska for many reasons, but for many it's for the experience and nature. Dropping by these restaurants or cafes make or break a lot for travelers, so here's my 100% candid experience. First, the atmosphere of the brewery is 100% top notch. It's clean, it's beautiful and it's very comfortable. Tables are available inside and outside and although I came with just my husband, plenty of people were here with children. I'd say it's a family friendly place. Second, beer is not served on tap. Beer is served from a can. It's the same with a lot of things from their menu, served from a can. Idk, I was surprised. So here is my experience. My husband and I walked right up to the bar and I had asked is they could do a whiskey mule, and my husband asked for a Bavarian beer. Unfortunately, the gentleman who was serving us was completely not customer friendly AT ALL. A young lady was literally serving another couple their "most expensive whiskey". The couple offered us a taste of the whiskey and I had expressed how good it was! My husband and I took a moment to look over the menu, look at the line of whiskeys they had on display, and we were waiting for someone to help us. The gentleman behind the bar took a minute before helping us, and when he did, 1) he barely said a word, 2) told us "everything is precanned, we don't make anything. The customer service at the bar was awful. I think managers caught on and excused the gentleman from the bar right after us. We happened to order a pizza the same time and the people in the kitchen were AMAZING. Super helpful and friendly. Customer service goes a long way. First time visiting the tasting room while in Talkeetna. We had tried Abaddon the night before with dinner and my partner wanted a growler to take back home after our trip. First this is a nice building and set up. Big roomy parking lot, outside seating, large inside. They sell food here too, which we were unaware but thought that was pretty cool. So why the 3 stars? Like I stated above it was our first visit. We saw Abaddon on the digital border and got excited and ordered a growler. The woman at the register was very snarky with us that can logo next to the names means there is NO draft available. While I understand that, tone and deliverance make a huge difference to me. I admit I didn't even notice the cans next to some of the names. I did not say anything about the interaction, but my partner brought it up and validated my experience. We did pick up a 4 pack of Abbadon and we decided to try the Mother Ale in the growler as we both like pale ales. We should've tasted it first. It was very bitter and we both didn't enjoy it. This taproom used to be super small, but last year they completely revamped the space! It now has a restaurant with Woodfire pizza, salads & bar bites. You can sample all of their products which include their craft beer, mead, cider, and craft cocktails with their in-house distilled spirits. The space is much larger with ample seating inside & done picnic tables outdoors. There is also a big bar space for tasting & ordering. Denali Brewing has certainly expanded their drink offerings from just their beers. They have some really delicious and innovative products on the menu. I absolutely love their canned cocktails, and really enjoy their mead. The food menu isn't super large, but their pizzas are actually very good. I feel as if there's definitely a surplus of pizza restaurants in Talkeetna, but they're not all good. The pizza here actually impressed me. It's wood fired, and the crust has a great flavor & texture. Toppings were abundant & the pizza sauce was good. I also really enjoyed the kale salad. It was a great portion size for $12 and super flavorful. If you don't want to deal with going "into town" when visiting Talkeetna this is an excellent option for good food & libations. read more

Denali Brewing was one of few quality stops near our lake-house rental. Once we finished all the brew we hauled in with us, we stopped in, 10minutes before closing on a weekday. The employees were not only welcoming but completely unfazed. We were still given great customer service. They wanted us to try everything but we knew they were about to close (and we were on our way to pick-up Thai food), so just wanted to purchase a pack of cans real fast. A must when you are in Talkeetna! We had no luck finding a restaurant in Talkeetna town area that was opened. So we were calling restaurants in the surrounding area and Denali Brewing was the only one opened. We didn't have much expectation but man I wish I have found out about this place earlier. This brewery has a huge tasting room with modern decor. When you step in you see an open kitchen on your left. Just head straight to the staff at the back to order your drinks and food. Besides beers they also have a good selections of cocktails and ciders. I'm not kidding I haven't had a cocktail this good in a while. Just keep in mind they do keep track of how many drinks you have ordered. Drink sensibly. We ordered buffalo drumsticks, mezze platter and pepperoni pizza. The drumsticks tasted much better than most buffalo wings I have tried. The drumsticks were oven roasted so were not greasy at all and the sauce was not overpowering. Pizza was very delicious. You could tell all the ingredients were of high quality. I usually just eat one slice of pizza at a time but I finished the while pie by myself it was just so good. Staff was also friendly. The establishment is kept clean, everything you need is at the table and the servers are speedy. On our drive from Fairbanks back to Anchorage, we decided to spend the night in Talkeetna. Before checking into our accommodations, we stopped at Denali Brewing Co. to enjoy a pint or two. When we arrived, we were the only customers but the staff was more than willing to start a fire outside for us. By the time we left, there were several other patrons and we enjoyed chatting and hanging out with the locals. Due to COVID-19, they are only offering outdoor seating. Since it was a chilly day, they do have several fire pits placed around, ready to be lit. The staff informed us that they are working on a tasting room and hoping that it will be done by Thanksgiving so that they can follow social distancing mandates while serving customers indoors. I thoroughly enjoyed their blonde ale called Mother Ale. My husband was a fan of their red ale (I believe). They have awesome merchandise ranging from shirts and sweatshirts to beanies as well as products made by local artists. We enjoyed their beer so much we ended up having dinner at their restaurant which is located in downtown Talkeetna. read more

We ordered 2 ham and cheese panini sandwiches for $32. It came with pickle spear and a small bag of chips. This was a huge let down, because I could have fixed the same thing at my house. Other than the beer, it's good! I stopped by here on my drive to Anchorage from Denali. The place is pretty cool and had outdoor and indoor seating. They were not requiring people to wear masks either! They have a wide variety of beers, seltzer's, ciders, and even draft cocktails! UPDATE: the owner contacted me and let me know that the oppressive brewery laws are to blame for my only negative of this place. You are only allowed a maximum of 36oz in one sitting at a brewery. On a personal note, I've noticed other breweries being very diligent on monitoring how many beers you've had lately. Turns out this has always been the law, it's just now being very strictly enforced. The 12oz "pints" are so you can have 3*12oz = 36oz beers rather than 2*16oz= 32oz (and a dangling 4oz beer leftover). Makes sense to me, awarding my 5th star now! Great locals-only spot! Seriously, I live in Anchorage, have been to Talkeetna dozens of times and...I'm only just now visiting. Why? No idea. This is way more of an actual brewery that the "downtown" brewpub. They've got lots of limited-edition beers on tap, a lot like Moose's Tooth. They are also generous in letting you sample before you commit to a pint. Speaking of pints...the pints here seem...a little small. Surely they aren't actually 16oz? That's the only reason they don't get 5-stars, weird move guys. read more

We came in right at last call but that didn't stop them from being very helpful. We had not eaten yet and they don't have food but we tried some beer and ended up purchasing a growler to go. They were also helpful about recommending that we go to their location in town that was open longer and that was a full restaurant. I really appreciated the care they took to explain the different types of beer and to let us sample the ones we were curious about. It was also quite busy because it was last call and they were trying to close, but that shows the care and attention that they gave to us, which is why I'm giving them a five star rating. The new hazy IPA they had just put on draft that day was to die for. One of the best hazy's I've had. The Mother Ale we got was okay. Wouldn't get that one again, but with such a good hazy I would just get 2 of them next time. We got two self sized pizzas as well. They were okay. Not the best, but edible. The staff was awesome. Most places are annoyed when you walk in with 10 minutes to close and I would never knowingly do that. The guy explained we looked at their other brewery that was in town and that it happened a lot. He said no sweat about ordering with only 10 minutes left, that they would be there far past close any way. They were very accomodating and super friendly. read more

I appreciate that they offer flights but wish they displayed prices for anything to do with drinks. No prices for individual drinks or flights anywhere. Also dislike the 3% surcharge for using a credit card - you get charged more even for tipping more! I realize this is frowned upon but we tipped less because of this. THE BEST gluten free pizza crust I have ever had.... I actually didn't miss the "real" crust! I don't know how they do it, but it's incredible. Fire baked with crispy bubbles, chewy areas, and it held together well. Not soggy, not a cracker, not a flat bread, it's somehow super close to real dough. At first I actually thought they made a mistake and gave me a regular crust. So good we came back twice in one week. Plus there are so many amazing drink options, including ciders, meads and canned cocktails. It's one of our favorite places when we come visit! read more

While on a 300 miles road trip to nowhere in particular we saw Denali off the side of the road and they were actually open!! So we pulled a Dukes of Hazzard trophy worthy u-turn. We traverse the iced over parking lot to enter a little slice of heaven. The waitstaff was very friendly and informed me that I could only legally enjoy 3 beers which was tracked on some goobermint mandated card with check boxes. I have and IPA and a stout. My wife dainty enjoys her Huckleberry Collins (2 thumbs up from her). While I am eyeballing a cool tshirt a dude (employee) driving a laptop, spreadsheet and a cell strolls over to offer me a free taste of their home made Spruce Gin. Historically I am a beer, bourbon and Scott guy. However being an ex sailor I typically don't turn down free booze. Shockingly the Gin was good, really good. Well played Mr Laptop as I now have to pray the bottle I bought makes it back home unbroken in my luggage. PS. Buy more of the burgundy colored t-shirts Mr Laptop. I don't drink cocktails, and enjoy white/rose/sparkling wines. My husband enjoys craft beers, so we ended up at this brewery. I was disappointed the only wine they offered was red, so I went for the blueberry mojito. Well, I am really glad they did not have any of the wines I like. I absolutely loved the blueberry mojito. I had to try another drink after that, and the strawberry basil was pretty good, too. It's not too hard to imagine yourself heading in for a beer when trying to make it to catch a glimpse of Denali on your way to Talkeetna. ::typical tourist:: The place looks huge, but there's really just cocktails, spirits, and beers. Not much space inside other than buying some items they sell, but the drinks speak for themselves. We were lucky to have Fireside Grill right in the lot. Their curry popcorn was incredible and we also tried their gourmet popsicle and that was also ACE. Definitely a place to check out on your way to Denali! read more
