Not in only did the Spinach Bread exceed its reputation, but the owner was experimenting with a vegetarian version of their Banh Mi when we walked up and they made it for us for the first time. OMGGG. Get the Tofu Banh Mi!! SOOOO GOOD! Tofu is marinated and pan fried perfectly to give it a savory crunch that we couldn't get enough of. The sandwich bread is perfectly chewy and it's served with tons of classic Banh Mi fresh veggies, herbs, and also sriracha mayo. We finished it off with the rhubarb blueberry crisp and couldn't have been happier. We've had other tofu Banh Mi sandwiches before in Los Angeles and this is by far superior.
Made to order piping hot spinach bread! It's cheesy, spinachy, garlicky, fluffy, crunchy. It's a party in your mouth and served up with a smile. I had to get the blueberry rhubarb crisp with fresh whipped cream too which was quite delicious! Cash only. A few outdoor benches and tables up front of the Airstream.
Everywhere we went all we heard was that we had to go try the spinach bread from the spinach bread lady in Talkeetna. I had no idea what to expect, but it is a food truck that sells a pretty short list of items. We tried the spinach bread and the berry cobbler. Ooh this spinach bread was delicious. I have a very picky child that ate so much, we had to go back and buy another one. Now, i'm just trying to figure out how to make that stuff down here in texas, so that he will eat spinach again. I thought the barry cobbler thing was just okay, and I definitely wouldn't get it again.It was a little drier than I was expecting. Do expect that you will have a bit of a line to wait in in order to get your turn, but they do crank it out pretty quickly.

On the only rainy day of our trip this July we stopped in Talkeetna. Our guide mentioned the mayor of Talkeetna and the spinach bread are must see/try's. Being from California we miserably trekked through the rain to the spinach bread truck, stomachs grumbling and socks wet. We ordered 3 spinach bread and 2 curry bowls, and it took a minute to come out due to so many people waiting. There's not a whole lot of dry/covered seating. We had to get everything to go, which wasn't ideal because of the rain and non-waterproof packaging. But it was still very worth it. I wish it was sunny on this day so we could've enjoyed more of the city, but that's the true Alaskan summer experience.
My family and I got the famous spinach bread from here after reading about it on various blogs. There was a long line (took 20 minutes to order) , but I think the worth was the wait was worth it as the spinach bread was really delicious. I wish the size was bigger, as it was not enough for one full meal. I'm curious how the breakfast burrito was. The problem was that they only accepted cash, and we only had a limited amount on us so we only got the spinach bread. I wish they accepted venmo. They have some seating outside, which is limited but nice. The actual restaurant is in a trailer, and the service was very nice. Overall, I would recommend trying their spinach bread!
***cash only*** in town, not sure about at the fair. Good bread a desserts. Drinks too. First time getting them in Talkeetna, as everyone probably knows them from being at the Alaska state fair. We were In Talkeetna on a Sunday, the weekend before Memorial Day. They were open from 12-6. They have good bread but they over charge for it in my opinion. $9 for three small slices of bread. It's like your regular cheese bread stick, kinda thick, with a thin layer of cheddar cheese and spinach and thin garlic cloves on it. $7 for a square slice of blueberry rubharb crisp. It was pretty dense but good. Again way over priced for what you get but probly cheaper than a restaurant. This place is just a snack shack not a meal by any means.
Darn, I forgot to check in here! I'm usually so good about it. Regardless, this spot is a MUST in Talkeetna. The cheesy spinach bread is absolutely delicious and worth its fame! I also got the Brazilian limeade and loooved it. Heads up, it's cash only. I don't often carry my debit card so I wasn't able to get any the first time I came to Talkeetna, but did on the way back. Adding an option to venmo would be great!

One of those times that the internet really hypes a place and raises expectations. Yes it was good, but not sure it's worth 9 dollars. It's like garlic bread at any Italian restaurant with spinach added. We in fact liked the blueberry crisp better for 7 bucks. Something different. And the cream up top was delicious! read more

There was a line when we came, but it moved pretty quickly. We got two spinach breads for 3 people. We were having it as a snack, so it was enough. I do think it's a bit pricey for the size of the bread. It's $9 for one, and they only take cash. There wasn't too long of a wait once we ordered, but I did notice that the people who ordered the curry had to wait a long time. It might be best to skip the curry if you're pressed for time. read more
Some folks at a coffee shop in Anchorage told me we had to stop at this place in Talkeetna. It was an awesome recommendation, and this spinach bread is so good. Served piping hot. It's basically cheesy garlic toast with spinach mixed in. Delicious! Wash it down with a Brazilian limeade. read more

Our tour guide suggested this place. And what a find for vegetarians! Wow! I loved their spinach bread. I loved their black beans and rice bowl. Delicious and fresh. The service was prompt. And it was a hot day. They even refilled my water bottle with cold water. read more

Can't really review because it was Monday (our only chance to visit Talkeetna) and after getting on the 4 o'clock and running to make it before the posted 6:00 pm closing, ONLY TO FIND IT CLOSES AT 4:00 ON MONDAYS!! No spinach bread for us.... So disappointed and sad read more

I've never had spinach bread, but definitely was a nice tasty treat! My friend and I had two dishes: the spinach bread and the blueberry rhubarb. The spinach bread was delicious. The combination of cheesiness and spinach flavor creates a savory taste that's sure to please. Contrasted with the sweetness of the rhubarb and you have a great snack or light breakfast. The only downside is that it's pretty expensive. Considering that it's only a few pieces of bread, coming up to $10 is pretty steep. But I'm sure many visitors will throw a little bit more money when on vacation. Is it worth it? If you like cheese bread, breadsticks and so forth, they try it. If not, you probably won't enjoy it. As for the rhubarb, if you like pies, you'll definitely enjoy this baked good. Keep in mind that seating is limited and that this place operates out of a small food truck like environment. read more
Loved it. Worth it. I actually had their truck at the Girdwood Forest Fest. I was in line for a while but everyone in front of me said it was worth it. They were right! I loved the bread so much. Also had the limeade and it was delicious. The only downside is that it was cash only. Luckily I had some on me, but I prefer to pay electronically. read more
The spinach bread is a perfect sharing snack for a walk through town. Service could be a little faster if they heated 2 breads at a time. Watch out for the HUGH garlic cloves. The healthy bowls looked super good too I also love the limeade concoction. read more

Their spinach bread is amazing! If you're in the area, highly recommend stopping by! If I live in the area, I would buy the frozen ones to take home. It is cash only and there are ATM machines nearby. I also ordered the limeade, which is refreshing for a hot summer day. Never had limeade with condensed milk in it and it was wonderful! read more
Head towards the end of the street and you'll see a silver airstream serving Spinach bread. It a must stop for a delicious snack. It's butter toasted bread topped with cheese, garlic and spinach ($8). Oh so yum! We also had the Brazilian limeade ($4)- it was so good and refreshing. Just so you know, it's cash only. I'd post pictures of the bread but alas, it smelled so good that I completely forgot my Yelp duty and devoured it all before I remembered. read more

Overpriced breadsticks. They tasted good, but what's not to love about bread, cheese, spinach, and garlic. A bit over done and crunchy. I was a little sad about how small the portion is. Don't let the picture fool you, that plate is only a little larger than the size of a tea cup plate. Not worth the hype for me, but might be good if you've got picky kids to feed. read more

I didn't have the spinach bread because it was cash only and they blueberry rhubarb crisp spoke to me. It was very yummy and I ate it for dessert the day I bought it and breakfast the next day. It kept very well. read more

Best spinach bread. Look out for a cool looking food cart as you head your way towards the lake. You can easily miss it. The bread was served fresh with cheese and there were multiple sauces available. Bread itself was very tasty. They have a very limited menu and outdoor picnic-style seating is available. I would highly recommend a stop here. We took a detour to try their bread. Completely worth it. read more

This used to be my favorite at the State Fair every year. I was really happy to see a booth while visiting home & attending Friday Flings in Palmer this summer. I guess my initial love has dwindled, or it just isn't as good as it used to be? It's very simple, while they do offer a few other items on their menu, this is the staple. About the size of a personal pan pizza, always served freshly baked, hot out of the oven. I think it is their spelt grain bread that makes it stand out for a more unique flavor. However, I was a bit underwhelmed with it on my recent visit after 7+ years of anticipating an old favorite. While it was still served fresh, hot out of the oven- it was a lot more greasy & less flavor than I remember. I didn't have any garlic on my serving, which was a bummer when I remember biting into perfectly roasted cloves on other occasions. The portion size also seems to have dwindled a bit. Maybe it was the hefty price tag attached? It was a little painful to spend $8 on a plate no bigger than my hand- the equivalent of one small slice of bread w/ a few toppings. I feel like I could pretty easily make my own at this point & spend less on the ingredients than one serving here costs. Either way- it was enjoyable to have a plate spending the afternoon in Palmer instead of driving all the way out to Talkeetna or planning on spending more attending the State Fair. read more

Spinach Bread, as has been mentioned, was yummy. Bread was warm, a little crispy, garlicky, lots of spinach, but not too much ;-). Topped with lots of melted cheese. Loved it! Served quickly out of an old airstream. Actually it was four strips of bread for $9.00. Pricey, but worth it. yum yum. For reference, the plate is probably 5", also pictured is my hubby's blueberry rhubarb crisp. He said very good too read more

Cash Only The Spanish bread is super yummy, warm crispy fresh out of the oven. It tastes like a thick pizza with cheese, spinach, and garlic on it. It takes about 6 min to wait for the next batch if you don't get one immediately. Perfect quick snack. read more
