Nice little village. The rooms are not huge, but they are comfortable. They have a couple gas fire pits and a couple that are wood. There are several trails near by. One is an easy trail and the other is longer which boots are recommended. We took the boots recommended trail and walked about 3 miles in to the second lake. The third lake is about 4 miles in. We arrived by tour bus. Once it leaves, you're stranded. Food choices: $50 buffet at Gold Rush (hideous dried out, partially burnt veggies), a bit less but still expensive buffet breakfast there. OR you can get $10 muffins at the cheesy coffee stand. OR you can walk over to miners village for $20 burgers and fries, which you eat at picnic tables or back in your room. OR pay $80 for "Cabin Nite" a campy musical dinner show, but the food is decent. OR bar food in the lodge. OR there's always the food truck across the highway at the other hotel. No microwave, no fridge in the rooms and God forbid you have a walking disability, because there are stairs, gravel walkways, long distances and no ramps. read more

I was expecting this place to be horrible after reading the reviews and the negative things our tour guide said, I am shocked! Our room is really nice and exceptionally clean. Internet was great. The property has thought of everything, first there are numerous places along the beautiful river to sit and enjoy the amazing views. They have a small grocery type store, a burger place, a beautiful and very nice gift shop and to top it off a lovely restaurant and bar with more beautiful views. We were with a group so we didn't have to check in at the front desk so I have no idea how they treat you there. The food at the restaurant was beyond what I expected and I am a very picky and healthy eater. The service in the restaurant was too amazing. I would definitely stay here again. read more

It's rustic but the service is great. We had a number of issues like the bathroom window not opening. This may not seem like much but there isn't any air conditioning. Our room got stuffy and too warm making it hard to sleep. In addition, there was no room cleaning. Not a problem provided you're made aware of that so you can empty trash cans and get coffee from the front desk. The restaurant on site was very good and they have a great place to get coffee drinks. The service at each was wonderful. They have free internet which was good because our AT&T wireless coverage was only 1 bar. They have cable TV but only about 5 channels. CBS was the only major network so we couldn't see any of the Olympics. I found it weird the only news channel was NewsMax. I'd stay here again now I know what to expect and prepare. Not sure why this place has such low reviews. I originally wanted to get a hotel in the "main drag" of Denali Village but poor planning on my part left me with little options. We ended up booking this hotel and absolutely loved it! Reception called the night before to confirm our booking and ask for an estimated arrival time. When we arrived the front desk had 2 people in line ahead of us, they quickly added two more staff to help with check in. Check in was very quick and smooth. Our room was clean, spacious enough and had a super cute deck overlooking the Nenana. We decided to drive to the main drag for dinner and some shopping. Between all the highway noise and foot traffic we were grateful to be in our hotel 6miles away. We went to the Gold Rush bar on site and hung out playing cards for an hour or so on the deck. Super peaceful place - I definitely recommend for a low key nice place to stay! read more

The pros: Beautiful well kept grounds, lovely potted flowers all around, the Nenana River coursing through behind our cabin with the soothing sounds of a gushing river, a large and comfortable main lodge with inviting placement of furniture and chairs, and of course the spectacular backdrop of the Denali mountain range. The cons: The Gold Rush Dining Room is ridiculously overpriced for mediocre food; they run out of things and make their own substitutions without even asking you if it's ok; their salad lettuce was old, turning brown with decaying slimy spots and doused in too much salad dressing (seems like they hire a lot of seasonal help with little training or know how on how to do food); their Dinner Theater show was kind of stupid with a weak plot, not to mention the food for this show was institutional. read more

We stayed here 6/8-6/11, and I was a little nervous with some reviews here. We came by the train, and it was a little crazy with the pickup as so many visitors came through this way and they didn't have efficient shuttle system. However, they really made up for it with their awesome service. In fact, on our shuttle to the village, we saw a moose cow and two calves at the side of road for which we slowed down to take a pic. We upgraded to river view room, and it was such a great decision. The hotel wasn't super crowded which we loved (probably not so good for hotel). The room was very clean and I think the whole building was renovated. I was impressed with its quality. No issues with our room at all. And I can't complain because our backyard was the river. We heard the river flowing as soon as we opened the window. The front desk was super sweet. One lady called on my behalf like concierge to ensure that we can get our refund for our national pass after our Tundra Wilderness Tour. I truly appreciate her effort instead of telling us to figure it out it on our own. The staff here made our first AK trip to be the best ever. Thank you! The staff also printed out everything we needed for any purpose, and you don't know how much we appreciate this. When we couldn't get laundry detergent for our laundry because all the stores were closed, one staff offered his personal stash. We declined because we felt bad about that, but we appreciate all their effort and all this needs to be mentioned. The restaurant on-site also served some of the best foods we've had, and we tried all 3 desserts. We snagged the table by the river every single time, and we had the same server all 3 nights. He was super nice and efficient. I was surprised how good this place was! I mean.... Aramark? Isn't that catering business? Oh, I recommend their sack lunches to go. This no-sandwich lady was all over their sandwich on the Tundra tour. It was so good! No, seriously! I hate sandwiches, but they made he best sandwich I've tasted in years! It was so convenient, too. Honestly shocked to see the rubbish people write in the lower rated reviews.. The property is literally located on the border of Denali National Park, next to a river offering some great views and spots to relax. The rooms, buildings, common areas and property in general were kept very clean even though they were at full capacity. The rooms are definitely not overpriced for the type and location they are in compared to other National Parks. The restaurant quality does have a weird selection of dishes on the menu and they were indeed out of some items. Depending on what you order, your quality will also differ but that is definitely reflected in the price. The 15 dollar burger won't look the same as the 30 dollar steak. However the 9 dollar chocolate lava cake will blow your mind! Please also keep in mind that everywhere in Alaska, places are understaffed. So if you have to wait a bit longer, the kitchen is out of a certain food or a staff member needs to go ask someone the answer to your question, just be understanding. They are trying the best they can. The only thing that does bother me is charging $18 extra to pick people up from the train depot that is literally 10 minutes driving down the road. You are all transported together on a converted school bus which could hold 46 people. And everyone pays that fare. What an insane cash cow that is?! PS: The hot breakfast buffet is $25... read more

Not impressed at all. We were staying as part of our land portion of a land and sea NCL cruise. First of all, coming from Fairbanks we drove past Princess and Holland America's hotels in the main part of town which is also where there's a ton of shops and restaurants. Those are all 6.8 miles away from the Denali Park Village. The village has some newer sections and some older ones as well. We were in the newer section and the rooms were nice and modern while still being rustic. Unfortunately they are right next to the highway so forget about the peaceful sounds and views you see on the website. The entire property appears to be struggling with the summer traffic. The general store employees were stressed out and unable to manage their emotions. I watched them snap on a customer for asking if they had another tub of ice cream after running out of a flavor. The cashier then announced that she was going to be cash only after running out of change. The final snap that I witnessed was when a customer asked if there were prices for the items they had for sale. Her answer was, "No, not really. You just have to bring them up to me and ask." Seriously? Other annoyances: - Broken Ice Maker - Other ice maker ran out of ice - Every CC transaction brings with it a request to tip - Be prepared to shell out some cash here. 3 star hotel in a 5 star location (to borrow from another reviewer). Visited: Jul 6 to 8, 2022 (2 nights). Pros: - Located right beside Nenana river with some lovely views out the back. - Generally friendly staff, we got to know several of them and it was a good time. Alex the assistant front desk manager was particularly nice to us after we arrived feeling frustrated due to miscommunication about the shuttle system. - The hotel provided additional sandwiches and fruit for our Tundra Wilderness tour. - There's a little fun area a short walk away along the river with a burger place that's good, some nice gift shops, live music in the evenings, and cornhole. - WiFi is great for Alaska - was able to play a computer game with 120 ms ping. Can comfortably stream YouTube videos. Cons: - Rooms do not have AC and unfortunately on the two nights we were here, the temperature was just a little too warm for us. The rooms do have portable fans but mine did not, leading me to my second point: - On my first night I called the front desk to ask for a fan. The man who answered the phone was somewhat curt and simply said there was no fan available. I found out the next day that there were indeed fans and asked for one. They did not bring it for two hours until I called again and finally they brought one. - Rooms definitely feel 3-star, a little small and feels old. The entire building shakes slightly when people climb the stairs, and sound transmits through the hallways, so it can be rather noisy. - My room did not have a trashcan (??) - The shuttle does not pick you up from the train depot according to the train arrival time which I find very odd. You have to call the front desk and request that the next shuttle come to the train depot if you're coming in by train. It took them 45 min to pick us up. Not a bad thing per se but to be noted if you're taking train. Overall: decent hotel but don't expect luxury. Unfortunately there are only 2 or 3 hotels in this area and all of them are of similar quality if you read other reviews for the Princess hotels. It's probably due to the poor accessibility of this location. Perhaps it's healthier to just be grateful that decent accommodation can be found in a national park. read more

This review is for the Gold Rush restraunt, I believe that is what it was called, that is inside the village. Our server was very attentive, he went out of his way to get everything that we requested. They do take reservations, and I believe you can reserve the outside deck area. I did feel that there was a little internal tension between servers, just from how much pressure some of them were putting onto others. This area gets a lot of business during the summer months, considering there are only so many choises in the middle of nowhere. There were some particles in the water we got, they switched it out when we asked. The food was lackluster, but it was ediable and consistant with the quality of this area. Not cheap, but expected. I got the chocolate cake, it was very moist and creamy. A lot like the cakes you get at the grocery store. read more

Maybe 3.5 stars. We'll start with the room. We were lucky to get the 700 building, which I guess is newer. We had a nice view of the river and found the room to be large, clean, huge shower, hot water, great water pressure, adorable little deck with table and chairs to enjoy the view, smelled clean, really not many complaints. TV and internet service both suck. Not one clear channel on the TV. Bring a book. The on-site restaurant.. the Gold Rush is a joke. We ate lunch here because we were desperate. We were literally the only patrons and service still sucked. Two ridiculously over dressed soggy chicken Caesar salads, a water, a soda, and a cup of chicken noodle (warm, not hot) set us back 50 bucks. But, seems to be the theme with eating in Alaska so the price is forgivable. The lackluster service is not. read more

We had horrible experience with their untrained staff. We stayed at their one of the waterfront cabins in summer while visiting Denali National Park. This hotel is overrated for what it offers. We picked the more expensive cabin for privacy and better view. The cabin was a tiny house with little to no room to move around. We checked out, left bags at our door as told by the staff, hopped on to the shuttle to train depot. To our horror, they kept our luggage while we reached Anchorage on the Alaska railroad train. Only to find out that our bags and car seat never made it on the train because their staff failed to address our questions about how to check in the luggage. We were never told to be present at the reception to tag our luggage and when they found our luggage with no tags, they did not bother to call us/ask us to come back from the depot. Our child was sick, his clothes and medicine as well as my car keys were left with them for more than 12 days where they took sweet time to ANALYZE the situation and ask us to pay for shipping the luggage back to California. Horrible horrible people who lack customer service to -100. They had chance to rectify the mistake that happened because of their poorly trained staff and ship our luggage overnight but why would they? Avoid staying here or any other Aramark managed properties. read more

Do not come to this place. We took a land package with NCL cruises and ended up here. We were told we had "river front rooms". I have included pics of what we had to look at. Not only was the view trashy, but we were right off the main highway and heard the traffic all day! Sail Princess or Holland America. They have their own places and are much nicer. We were also told that this place had not staffed enough employees for the restaurants. We could take a shuttle into town and walk to a restaurant or cross the highway and get to a food truck. This is AWFUL. NCL should be embarrassed and ashamed. I have 3 days of looking at their construction junk. I should have skipped this part. So to add to this review, we has to keep our windows open because it is actually hot in Denali right now. We heard TRAFFIC all night long because our room are literally just 200 feet from a major highway. Around midnight we had to call the front desk because the trash guys were zooming their vehicles right in front of our room. Yes, we are also in front of one of the properties dumpster. I asked to move to another building but was told I could not do that. So, one more night in this hell hole. read more

I stayed at Denali Park Village for two nights before going on a cruise. I was unable to do my laundry because I was unable to get change needed to do my laundry. Oh BTW it's 900 dollars a load to use the washer and dryer. Bring lots of quarters so you can do your laundry. The front desk and gift shops were unable to give me a any change. Also there were no microwaves or refrigerators in the rooms. and the cable in our room didn't have sound. Don't stay here if you want to sleep at night. this place is awful! i am here unfortunately for 2 nights as part of an NCL cruise /land tour package. where do i begin! lets start with the room. other than the bath area this room only has 2 small lights over the bed. the lighting is so poor it is like living in a cave with a candle. i have trouble seeing in dark places so this really sucks for me. i asked about getting another light or better light bulbs and was told no. when we got to the room it was cold as hell. i explored why and the window over the bathroom sink was open and broken. called the front desk and they said they were busy but would send someone. they did and the guy said he needed to get something to fix it. he never came back. the tv has like 12 channels and it was also old and the picture was dark. we tried to adjust the brightness with the settings but nothing worked! obvious to us an old shitty TV. ok i will mention one more thing the beds we had were 2 full size beds. not what we wanted or expected and they were not made up properly. the best eay i can describe it id they were short sheet. now for the rest of the story. this room type costs 469 per night plus taxes. if forcrd i might pay 125. this place is a joke! the service desk people ate young and inexperienced. the service stinks. So I blame myself for not doing my homework and i blame norwegian cruise line for picking this dump. the place has virtually no excursions and you are captive to their overpriced crappy restaurant. Ok i warned you....if you actually book this place or accept an ncl pre or post tour with this as a hotel you have yourself to blame. i am going to bitch to NCL as well. I am here as I write this. The employees are so rude that it amazed me that they have a job but understand after talking to the general store manager. Tried to get two cups of coffee at 4:30 PM on Sunday and was told by the general store managere that they weren't going to make any because they'd have to pour part of it out when they closed. It was the same story in the coffee shop. Was told we could buy coffee at the buffet/restaurant to get coffee there. Losing a bit of coffee is simply a cost of doing business but don't provide those $$$ cups of coffee when customers want it. Hamburger and fries $22, buffet $55, soup and salad buffet were over $30. Went to the bar and paid $16 for two beers and they let me know we really couldn't sit at a table in the bar area and drink our beer without ordering food. I went to my room, kept my credit card in my wallet and will spend my money elsewhere where is appreciated. Aramark should really spend some cash hiring a manager that cares and knows how to manage and invest in a refresher on the basics of customer service training. Room was just ok, no fridge where one could bring food with them and keep it cool. If you have alternatives, you should really consider staying elsewhere where your business is appreciated and not simply tolerated. Motel 6 is an improvement over this. read more

This place is now "Denali Park Village". It is confusing trying to locate this place online and on any map due to the name change. The resort offers regular hotel rooms and some small cabins which are extremely small with very little countertop space in the bathroom. The lobby is beautiful with a real warm "lodgepole" feel about it with a well stocked gift shop off to the side. The grounds are well kept by a team of maintenance workers. There's a "Miners Plaza" area within the resort with small bookstores, restaurants, a fire pit with large wooden campfire chairs and other Alaskan themed shops which is really neat. The food at the restaurant is of good quality, expensive but good. There's a Starbucks in the reception area which is quite nice and welcoming. Inside and outside seating. We had hot tea, cocoa and cookies sitting out by the river. :-) Make sure you double check exactly the name of the tour you're taking in the mornings as there are so many tours it gets confusing and it appears it would be easy to get on the wrong tour bus....... read more

Not too shabby compared to the other Aramark property we stayed at in Alaska. The room was clean, but I can't say much about being warm or comfortable since we didn't stay in it much. It was really just a place to sleep. The only problem we had was with the management and with one restaurant in the "village". I can understand that the employees on the lower end of the pay scale may want to get out at the end of the season (when we visited), but it seemed like the management cared even less about customer service at this point. Pretty sad actually, but I guess it would be silly to expect more from something operated by Aramark. We were told that the coffee shop would be open at 6, but when we got there at 7 they still hadn't opened. When the girl finally opened she said her manager said to not worry about it. So even their management doesn't care about customer service (well, unless there are a LOT of customers I guess). The food at the restaurant in the courtyard behind the main entrance was total blech! Those were eggs? Really??!!! Everything was pretty tasteless. The only bright spot on the food was in the bar and grill located off the lobby. The food and service was good. Our waiter kept checking on us even while his buddies were at the bar drinking and joking around. It's pretty sad when the regular employees have better attitudes than management, but that is what you get here. read more

Hotel was decent, nice beds, nice shower, great location right by the river. Room was basic, no microwave, no mini fridge and only a dozen or so channels. Very nice lodge with nice looking restaurant with view, but did not eat there. They had good rates for 'Denali Lotto Road Draw Special.' $99 for their $245 rooms. The only complaint I had was there was no close 'Handicap Parking' close to the lodge we were in. I addressed this with the staff both nights we stayed with no good resolution. Fortunately for us, I was able bodied to park the car a long ways away & bring it back to load up my disabled friend. read more

What an amazing property! They are located about 5-6 miles south of the Park Rd and other hotels. If you're traveling without a car, don't worry - they provide a shuttle! Every staff member I encountered were extremely friendly and were eager to help make my stay the best ever. Our room was VERY clean (and bonus - came stocked with Starbucks coffee!) and was facing the Nenana River. While it was a bit cold, falling asleep with the window open to the sound of the river was awesome! Unfortunately, my wife and I only spent one night in Denali. Next time we head up, we wont even consider staying at a different hotel. read more

this Wednesday the hotel front desk called and said they cancelled my room because the weather is too cold and the facility is closed. Two days later I got an email from booking.com said my room has been cancelled because there is covid risk at the property. But I do have another reservation on the same day for my friends booked directly through the hotel's official website, I called today and the representative said the reservation is still valid and the property is still open, also he said there is no covid risk at all at the hotel. Looks like they are oversold and tried to lie to me when the front desk cancel my room. The representative I talked to also tried to blame on booking.com and said it's booking.com who cancelled the room, they don't know what's going on. But according to what it says on the reservation, it says "reservation cancelled by property". The representative tried to give me the number of the front desk and I found out it is the very number that called me and informed me of the cancellation. I could have understand the situation if they can just tell me the truth, but instead, they lied, again and again. It's only a week away from my trip, they didn't leave much options to me since every hotel nearby is fully booked. We are a group of four, we can't all stay in one king room. Hotel is just Ok. Seems to be staffed entirely by seasonal workers who haven't been here long so can't provide a lot of info. Lots of little minor annoyances, like not replacing teas in room after I used one. Most people come as part of a package, which arranges for bags to go right to hotel. But if you come on your own by train, be prepared for a shuttle bus that is basically an old school bus without any luggage space. And the free shuttle only runs hourly and stops by dinner time. The hotel does not provide shuttles to any place except Denali Park, and is not near anything. Feels like they want to trap you on thier property so you spend all your money there. There is a shuttle company called North Face shuttles that runs most nights to "the Canyon", an area with stores and restaurants. Good option to get away from the hotel restaurant, which is good for 1 dinner at most. North Face shuttle stops at 10p, but the Salmon Bake restaurant (one of tge restaurants down at the Canyon area) has its own shuttle. read more

Falling asleep to the smoothing sound of the rushing Nanana river is unbeatable. After having stayed at the Denali river cabins, the bar for good lodging gets really-really low. So, trying to stay as neutral as possible...I would say Mckinley rooms were good. It almost felt like your usual Marriot grind as far as interiors go. Coffee maker - check, TV-check, even cell phone coverage. The tiny café at the lobby had pretty good coffee, even had sandwiches and muffins, not too shabby at all. If you're in for a quiet evening, the river view deck is awesome to sit back with a cuppa joe. We had lunch at their 'fine dining' restaurant called Gold Rush. I had pasta, and husband had clam chowder and halibut. They were both just alright. For a fine dining restaurant, the service was a little sluggish and food was pretty generic. There's tons of touristy information, and many shuttles actually leave from here. Most of the hotel staff are actually from the lower 49 states, and really are tourists themselves at Denali, so don't rely on them for information. Overall, considering the other options, the stay was A-OK. read more

This place just changed it's name. It used to be called Denali River Cabins and Cedars Lodge. Staff was friendly at check in. We had reserved one of the cabins. They were cute with large decks off the back facing the river. The cabins are very small. There is barely enough room for two bags and two people. The room wasn't very clean -especially the toilet. While taking a shower there were points where all of the sudden the water would change to scalding hot. The cabin was also very dark with not much lighting to see on one side of the cabin. We are vegetarian and neither one of the restaurants on the property had good options. We ate offsite each night at Prospectors. It was also frustrating because the phone number for the hotel was very difficult to find. The grounds are nice however and in good weather would be a nice place to hang out. I would definitely choose the lodge over the cabins if you decide to stay here. The cabins were $400 per night and definitely not worth the price! read more

Horrible experience. The manager did not care, she said "Sorry, we had a rough summer" and that was it. This is totally unacceptable. People who have a not hired a car are completely depended on hotel's complimentary shuttle service which hotels deliberately advertise all the time. Denali park village's website still says (as on todays date i.e. 24th June 2019) that shuttle service starts at 6 am and ends at 6 pm. So, as per this website information, we long back booked our transit bus at 7 am from bus depot at visitor center. When I went to the hotel on 13th June 2019, I was informed that shuttle service starts at 9 am and ends at 4:20 pm. I was also informed that information in their website is all wrong. Even after complaining wrong details in website remains as is. As I already had my bus booking from bus depot at 7 am, I was offered and booked for a complimentary shuttle at 6.30 am from Denali park village on the next day i.e. 14th June 2019. When enquired at 6.27 am at front desk, they were not sure about my booking. They called up shuttle service, which arrived at 6.40 am, then again the driver wasted another 10 min saying that he had few more guests to pick up, even though we kept on telling him that our transit bus is at 7 am and we need to reach a little early for pre boarding formalities. None other guests joined till 6:50 am and then the driver dropped us at the bus depot. We reached a minute late and so we were not allowed to board the 7 am bus. When you miss your own booked transit bus then it is at the discretion of the management of Denali national park to accommodate us in the next available bus. We were stranded for around 1 hour before we could get any available seat. Wait, this is not the end. In the evening, we were supposed to get picked up by a white van from the bus depot at 4:20 pm i.e. their so called scheduled time to go back to the hotel. The white van came at 4:15 pm and just turned around without stopping even for a second. The driver just didn't notice us when we were waving our hand for him to stop. This was supposed to be their last shuttle to pick up from visitor center bus depot. First of all the driver came 5 min earlier and then didn't stop even for a second. We saw many other hotel bus at the same spot, they stopped for atleast 3-4 min to pick hotel guests. After calling the hotel 4 times, we were finally picked up at 5:10 pm. To our surprise, we got to know that this bus is their train shuttle, which then went to train station. We had to wait for another 30 min for the train to arrive and then to pick up train passengers. Finally, we managed to reach this great hotel at 5:55 pm. So in the morning, these disgusting hotel wasted 1 hour and in the evening 2 hrs for a drive which is just for 10-12 minutes. When we informed the front desk about this issue they had only one word to say and that is "sorry". People at front desk said that there is some so called problem with white van shuttle service. No action was taken against shuttle service. Shuttle service at Denali park village is just meant for advertisement. If there would have been private taxi or uber service at Denali, we wouldn't have even bothered about this disgusting so called complimentary shuttle service. We are highly disappointed with this pathetic shuttle service. This is not acceptable from a reputed high end hotel called Denali park village. read more

No cable, it and wifi was down for extended periods.. rooms are not well conditioned. Restaurants are over priced.. they put more into gift shop then into accommodations. Buildings are not connected to main lobby. Why..???? the weather is always in question...makes no sense. Not good... read more

An extremely basic lodging that allows easy access to Denali. Very limited dining options but there is a shuttle into "town" but it's not really a town but a boardwalk full of tourist shops and restaurants that isn't even on any map. This boardwalk actually had more economical options (incl. a Subway and a taco stand) for food than the overpriced restaurant on the property. Unfortunately, the shuttle costs $5 each way (8 miles) and starts to run at 4:15 pm. There is a free option but you have to take the Denali Village shuttle to the visitor center then from there take the Princess shuttle to "town" and do the reverse back. There's a free laundromat which is good, especially for people coming off a cruise. Lauren was a standout at the front desk, extremely conscientious and kind. Shelly seemed quite passive-aggressive and couldn't wait until I left her alone after I asked her any question. Probably not her ideal position based on her disposition. The room was ok but ABSOLUTELY NO SOUNDPROOFING. I could hear everything the people said in the next room over. The staff taking care of the grounds are very young, almost all eastern european and not even slightly helpful. Are they even legal? read more
