There is also no safety bar in the shower and there is a limited space where the roll of toilet paper can be placed. It is in a very difficult place. There is an electric fan in the room in case the summer temperature gets too. The hotel, as well as all the businesses in the area(and the Park) closes in September for the long winter season. They reopen in May. The restaurant is spacious for breakfasts. There is an option for a limited continental breakfast or a full buffet. On our tour we were entitled to the full buffet. The continental breakfast is $23; the full buffet is $30.00. The buffet includes all of the standards: breakfast potatoes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, yogurt, fresh and canned fruits, biscuits and gravy, hot and cold cereals, breads and mini muffins. There is also a lady making crepes in one of three flavors. These crepes are a very nice extra to the buffet. Note to the manager: The door to room 307 needs WD-40. It squeaks.

Hotels in Alaska are not as up to date as in the lower 48, but there is not much wrong with this place. The rooms are in 8 different buildings, reception and on site restaurant are in the main building. Rooms have Alaskan airco: open a window. They are pretty simple, king size bed, decent shower and enough outlets for all your electronics. Breakfast was pretty standard with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, yogurts, cottage cheese and canned fruit. There is a crepe station, you can order a fresh made crepe. There are 3 flavors, I had the cream cheese and raspberry sauce. It was very good and I actually went back for a second one. Considering that all lodging, restaurants etc are only open 4 months in a year, it's not bad at all. The hotel is nothing fancy and it could use an upgrade, but it's definitely much better than some reviews make it sound.

This beautiful house-turned-restaurant offers guests an intimate dining option that is perfect for a sexy date- GORGEOUS views and atmosphere. The service is casual with a super fun / friendly vibe but you feel quite fancy being up there because the food is so nice! The bartender, Jared, is ready to make you a drink that you'll enjoy and and the kitchen staff is ON IT! So many locally sourced meats, seafood options, home-grown vegetables and herbs- this place should really charge more than it does. We enjoyed a gorgeous salted beef appetizer platter (with whole heads of roasted garlic- say no more!) as well as two beautiful specials and two AMAZING DESSERTS. Drank too many cocktails and wines but it was hard not to when Jared was whippin' up magic behind the bar... This was one of the few fine dining / high quality food experiences we've found in the Denali area and we LOVED it!! And we ate like fat kings for just a little over $100- I'm talkin like 3+ drinks each, appetizers, entrees AND 2 huge desserts- all totally house-made and worth every penny. Can't wait for a warm day to go hang out on their deck! THANK-YOU PERCH KITCHEN AND SERVING STAFF!! You were all amazing and such a TREAT! :)

This was a hard review to write because there were so many aspects to the excursion. They did deliver what they promised, a rustic covered wagon ride out to a mess hall where dinner was served before the wagon ride back. The wagons are a rough ride and we were warned before. It was the experience of riding a covered wagon through the forest, in fact, it was probably more comfortable than what explorers would have tolerated 100 years ago since the "wagons" here have car tires. The dirt road maintained but rough and we traveled several miles out to the mess hall. A little dusty with a few bugs. The dinner was served family style with about 12-15 seated at each table. A nice way to meet new people and make new friends. They started with macaroni salad, potato salad and cole slaw. They were all very good. They then brought out vegetarian chili, again pretty good. The main courses were a little weak. The chicken was roasted? With very little spices. Your kids will love it, we all dipped it in the chili. Second they brought out BBQ pork ribs. Not the best I've had and definitely not "fall off the bone" tender. They followed the ribs with salmon that was very good. Dessert was the best part. They serve you all the food you want and are more than happy to bring you more of anything you want. You will not leave hungry plus they offered drinks including wine (cheap). Considering with they are doing and what they have to work with we felt like it was worth our money and time.
