I called Hillman City medical to see if I could have an annual visit/labs done. They scheduled me for the following week. I went in and to my surprise, had a very thorough initial intake/work up done. Labs were done right in the room versus me heading to a lab and waiting to be called. I was only expecting my usual cholesterol and metabolic panel labs. I reported eczema and coughing during the middle of the night. I had a steroid inhaler prescribed for my night coughing fits I had ever since my COVID infection. I had been finding myself coughing every week or two since catching COVID as an awakening call in the middle of the night. I had many restless nights from the intense, successive coughing and each time, I tested negative. After two months of inhaler use, I haven't had a single coughing fit. Amazing. For my eczema, I had tacrolimus prescribed. I stopped picking up my medication because my insurance restricted the drug to prior authorization only and had been using steroids for eczema flares. The clinic was able to quickly appeal insurance and I was able to pick up the medication. Aside from thorough work up, the part I thought was neat was Dr Đang Do went and discussed my coughing fit with the other physician. Having one doctor is great but when they share their knowledge amongst each other, even better.

Today was the first time I've been to this facility. I didn't know where to park but there's a free…read moreparking lot across the street from the main door. In the garage, it cost money but it's pretty reasonable. Less than $3 if it's under 2 hrs. I was there for a mammogram, so when you enter the facility, no need to check in at the main door, just follow the sign to Mammogram and check in with the front desk there. Once inside, the tech, Terry walked me to the locker room, gave me a hospital cape, and told me to take off my shirt and bra (if I take off my pants, she's going home. Haha) and put my personal belongings in the locker then head to the waiting room. After that, she walked me to the room and showed me the positions to take the scan. Terry was really nice, friendly and pleasant. The experience was not as bad as I thought. The level of care was superb. I was expecting the worst since I read another Yelpers experience before coming. Almost had me cancelled the appointment but I'm glad I didn't. Terry explained the process and what to expect so I was pretty grateful for a good first time experience.

She made me feel comfortable and relaxed every step of the way, talking me through everything. Dr. Karmali is extremely kind, attentive, gentle, humble, and calming. She went to UW Med School, so extra points for that! Another cool thing is that Swedish uses MyChart, an online personal health record system where you can see your medical history, appointments, messages from your doctor, etc. Strangely, when I called to make an appointment, the receptionist said that Dr. Karmali did not have any openings until January 2015. However, when I went online to MyChart, I saw multiple openings between now and the end of the year. I ended up making an online appointment with Dr. Karmali for early December and cancelling my phone-made appointment with another doctor at Swedish. I am so excited to go see Dr. Karmali again soon!

After my motorcycle accident in 2009 Dr. Karmali checked up on me and worked with my medical records from Harborview to continue with my pain management care. To this day she still works closely with me on this care and has been very good at keeping an eye out for my health and well being and continues to work with my pain management doctor at Harborview. Dr. Karmali set me up with MyChart (available to all Swedish patients) when I moved back to WA and through that I am able to discuss issues with her without having to make an appointment to go into the clinic (I'm already there enough as it is!) and she is quick to get back to me usually same day but definitely within 24 hours. She even responds on her days off and to me, that is complete dedication and proves just how much she cares about her patients. I have recommended her to a couple of friends and they love her as well. Dr. Karmali is very knowledgeable and caring. If she is unsure of something she will investigate the issue to ensure that you get the best possible care. She is just an amazing doctor and an even more amazing person.

She really listens to her patients and trusts their instincts with their own bodies. She goes above and beyond, truly, from finding the cheapest place to get prescriptions for her patients to acting as therapist and listening to your grievances about life. Dr. Tomberg was my doctor at the time and he was just amazing. Sadly he left to start a practice closer to home and that left us patients wondering if there will ever be a doctor that would be as kind, caring and patient as he was. And there was! Dr. White! I tried one doctor before Dr. White, I don't remember her name but I did not like her. She was cold and dismissive and I just noticed she is no longer there anyway. I was starting to look for a family doctor elsewhere, but thought I would give it another try since I was still seeing Dr. Zook (dermatologist). I finally saw Dr. White for a general check-up and he so warm and friendly when we met. Although he is a guy doctor I feel very comfortable with him and that's not very common. Dr. White is very thorough it seems and his explains his diagnosis in lay terms so I understand what's going on, he even goes as far as drawing pictures. Anyway, I'm suddenly wondering if I should even post this. Once people get wind of awesome docs like Dr. White it starts getting hard to see him. But he totally deserves all the positive referrals!

First of all, she's covered by most insurance, such as Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Next, you get full hour of uninterrupted time all to yourself. So amazing! She goes from head to toe asking about everything, including your vision, hearing, aches and pains and of course your bowels. She gives you insight into what is going wrong and why and recommends naturopathic medicine if possible. Any lab work has to be done at an external lab, but it's worth the extra effort. I've never had a more knowledgeable and attentive doctor. I highly recommend her!

Wasn't so great for a sudden onset and new hip pain. Was seen by a PA twice, got a referral to PT and handout for piriform syndrome, returned as that didn't seem to fit and was worried about worsening problem, didn't get exam second time but referral for x-ray (there was going to be someone coming in that Saturday; I understand they don't usually have x-rays). I ended up doing the x-ray at my regular location in case comparison with previous x-rays needed. There doesn't seem to be much continuity between VM and VM/Franciscan at former Franciscan locations or at least this one. Had to reobtain health insurance info, get new "portal" type info for a different system etc. It is often IMPOSSIBLE to get through on the phone. Just killed my battery holding for half an hour without getting through, after receiving a letter stating I would need to call them to prevent further calls and letters about the PT referral, which turns out to be for another of their locations, not my regular VM location where I've been seen in PT many times before. Saw my regular doctor when I could get in with her at the usual VM location and received more complete exam and a diagnosis of meralgia paresthetica or trochanteric pain syndrome. Pluses: Clean, welcoming location, friendly front desk, friendly, sympathetic HCP, able to walk in and rule out likelihood of needing to go to ER. Minuses: Not great for diagnoses, continuity of care with VM, or accessibility on phone, not a lot of equipment there, it seems. Blaring TV in waiting area on second visit was really distracting the 1-2 hours I had to wait for my appointment and prevented reading.
