Like many others on Yelp I would rather give this woman 0 stars. However, unlike several others that have come from a bridal perspective, let me stay from a groomsman point of view this women is awful. First of all RUN do not walk to any where else. Getting a Tux rented and fitted shouldn't be such a mess. This women worked with my family to fit the groom and his groomsman. Out of the gate, at the appointment she didn't bother trying to write anything down. This quickly escalated to her messing up each individual with whom she was measuring. The groom ended up writing it all down for her so she could keep everyone straight. (She didn't even spell the family name correctly) Secondly, the week before the wedding we had several parties coming from out of town. The process of getting the rental for each of use wasn't helpful at all, she started texting everyone demanding we show up in the middle of a work day. When explained that we were flying it the day prior to the wedding and wouldn't be available until Thursday mid-morning. We were told, that's unacceptable. Unacceptable?? who's working for who? Third, at the time of pick up many of the items shirts, pants, jackets required additional adjustments. Now I've rented formal wear before, normally you might have one or two adjustments. But the volume of adjustments, were just silly. My guess it came back to the initial fitting when she wasn't keeping proper notes. Forth, PRICE. What a joke, not only were the rentals more expensive than any of the chain stores, she charged for each last minute adjustment. Talk about a money maker, she charged 30-45 dollars for each temporary stitch. Really, the mistake was either with you or the warehouse you're renting from. But we get to pay. Each tux ended up being nearly $350 each... just for a point of reference . Five, Hours. This women is a one man band, the wedding we had was on a Friday. She states (as does Yelp) that the store is open until 3pm... LOL well as you could guess. Nope closed at 1pm. When does she open next, Monday at 9 (again right in the middle of a work day). When you have a small business there are several reasons people are willing to pay more than a big box store. Customer Service: 0 of 5 stars Attention to Detail: 0 of 5 stars Ability to be custom: 1 of 5 stars Paying Attention to the Market: 0 of 5 stars Price: 0 of 5 (Men's Warehouse would have had the same tux for almost $100 bucks less. I love her matter of fact knowledge of making the garments ( and the person wearing the garment) look their best! If I could zero stars I would. I would never recommend this business. I spoke with Denise over the phone and explained my situation and that I was looking in several place for a wedding gown and a dress for my daughter. I was considering buying a wedding dress from a place online (David's Bridal online), and also wanted help knowing how to purchase and the alteration process, which of course I would bring the dress for her to do. Her store was closer to my house than a David's Bridal. She insisted I come into the store for a meeting, since the wedding is only 6 months away. We made an appointment for the following week. When I arrived, she had no clue who I was or what I was there for, even when I mentioned I had an appointment. When she found out I had a modest budget, she pretty much shut down the conversation and made it clear she had no interest in speaking with me. She recommended I wear a bridesmaid dress as my wedding dress. She refused to speak further. I spent a total of 3 minutes there, which was 3 minutes too long. Run away from this woman and this place. She will not help you and doesn't care to even win your business for a gown or alterations. read more

Denise's Bridal saved the day! Our back story... We purchased my daughters wedding dress in a highly rated bridal shop. However, after the third fitting in the shop, we were still unhappy with the results. My daughter said the front looked like it was off centered and the back of the dress, that had a low back, was gapping. Also, the bustle seemed to be too long in the back, easily a trip hazard when dancing. The seamstress from the shop said we would have to use body tape to avoid the gapping, especially since there was no lace to hide the gaps. My daughter normally wears a size 2-4. This was not the look of the sleek designer dress, with clean lines we bought. We were told basically there was nothing more could be done, except press the dress and to come back for our 4th fitting one week away from the wedding date. I started searching for highly-rated seamstress' and was lucky to find Denise's Bridal. Denise took us in, 2 weeks before the wedding. She spent an hour or more with my daughter with her dress on, asking questions, listening and explaining to us what she would alter, and how much time it would take, and the cost. We found out the front of the dress was previously altered 2 1/2" longer on one side in the front of the dress then the other side (thus my daughters concern about it looking off-centered). Denise said she could fix the front, alter the bustle to the correct length, clean up the back bow, and make sure there were no gaps in the back--and that after buying an expensive designer dress--a bride should not have to use body tape. Denise did excellent work the dress looked exquisite, fit beautifully, tailor-made, centered with no gaps in the back (no need for body tape), dancing in it was a breeze. Thank You Denise! The comments are not wrong, I would never recommend this business. I spoke with Denise over the phone and explained how I needed a skirt added to my future wedding dress and how I would also like to bring in my mother's wedding dress in and have pieces of it used to make a rehearsal dinner outfit for myself & possible other garments/pieces for my other sisters to have for themselves. She seemed knowledgeable and expressed there were no hesitations over the phone. We made an appointment for the following week. When my mother and I walked in and finally spoke with her, she seemed to have no clue who I was/what I was there for when I mentioned we had an appointment. She then continued to barley allow my mother and I to speak and explain our ideas with the dress. She went on long tangents about how we should only be using pieces of the dress rather than the whole thing - which is what I wanted to do from the start. She scolded me multiple times when I barley got two words out about doing that exact thing, saying "there is no way I could use this whole dress and make a jumpsuit for you out of it" (which was not my intention - I simply wanted to make a custom jumpsuit using pieces from my mother's dress along with outside materials). She rudely cut myself and my mom off, talking to us like children. She kept telling us we could cut up my mother's dress on our own by buying the right tools at Joann Fabrics - what a waste of time, we were there because we are not professional seamstresses! Needless to say we did not even bring up the plans for my own wedding dress and got out of there as fast as we could. read more

Denise has that rare talent of being able to see what needs to be done and make it happen. She worked with my daughter on her wedding gown bought online during the pandemic shut down. When restrictions were lifted, we looked for someone who could not only make alterations, but also add design elements. Denise made it happen beautifully, and all her recommendations were spot on. Denise does suits and tuxedos as well. My husband was fitted for two new suits, rented a vest and bow tie and was quite fashionable at the wedding. Denise does regular clothing alterations as well. Highly recommend--you won't be sorry. 5* read more

Honestly, I wish I could give 0 stars. I came to Denise yesterday about my wedding dress. She seemed friendly at first and I was greeted and we talked briefly. After coming out of the fitting room in my dress, I attempted to explain a few of the problem areas (there are not many). She cut me off and told me one thing at a time. She proceeded to tell my mom she needed to "pay attention" to what she was saying and needed to look at what she was doing. I expressed an interest in "swooping" the corners of my dress at the slit so I didn't continue stepping on the corner of it. She proceeded to rudely tell me she doesn't know what swooping means (ok, sorry I don't know all the correct verbiage). I walked around in my dress after that and she kept scolding me for looking down but I was attempting to not step on my dress. I also explained an issue I was having with the mesh illusion part of my dress by the neckline. I was cut off and scolded as she told me its not mesh it's tulle. Then even SPELLED it for me like I'm in preschool. I think she must be a very talented seamstress if people continue coming here because her customer service and overall personality are not something I would EVER put up with as a bride. I came to Denise's with my fiance in hopes of finding a tuxedo to buy and get custom altered for our wedding. Walking through the door, Denise seemed confused as to why we were there-we had an appointment- and then falsely assumed there was a groom( we are two ladies). The worst part is, she kept going on and on about not being able to custom tailor a rented tux and even after we tried to explain we wanted to buy one, she assumed we needed to look at the budget options. The whole experience was awful. There were other people there that she was being very friendly and super attentive to. She just threw a book at us to look through and basically ignored us for the 45 minutes we were there. read more

I drive by Denise's almost every day thinking that I need to try out her business. I have a competitive dancer and live very close so I had high hopes that this would be a place that I could use in the future for the costumes and things we have fitted for dance. So I took my daughter to Denise to have a dress altered for the daddy daughter dance. I figured this was a good opportunity to see what the business was like. I was excited to try it out. We had a 7:30 appointment. She was working with a bride when we arrived and we waited. She finally got to us about 7:50. In the meantime she did not greet us, ask who we were or apologize for being late. She actually asked us to move over to make room for the bride with out being very polite. She also thought I was someone else being fitted for a pink dress and it seemed like she had forgotten about our appointment. Once she came over to help us she still did not ask us our names, referred to me as "mom" and didn't take time to talk to my daughter at all despite the small talk I tried to start. In fact the couple comments she made were not very friendly. She fitted the dress just fine. Asked me to come to her table to work up the invoice. It wasn't until then that she even asked our names. Then she wanted $80 to shorten 4 straps. I debated- but then left with the dress because I thought this was too high of a price for mediocre (at best!) customer service. If she would have been friendlier, on time, and simply made us feel welcome I probably would have popped for the high price alteration. read more

My experiences have only been positive! I've now known Denise many years, have sent friends to her (one of whom she accommodated last minute for a wedding and it was all good), and will continue to recommend her. On a personal note, she is very understanding and patient with a family member who has a disability. It warms my heart every time. Went to Denise to have a bridesmaid dress altered. She was very rude to me and almost made me schedule a new appointment because I had dog hair on my dress. "I'm not being rude" is what she said. After she decided to keep it, she charged me $200 for a hem and to take it in a little on the sides. The dress looked like crap and it seemed almost worse that it was before. I should have never left my dress with her. She was not professional and was way over priced for a job not well done. I will not return and wish I would have taken it somewhere else from the beginning. read more

I would like to give this woman 0 stars. Let's start with me contacting Denise 2 months prior to make an appointment. I explained to her that I am traveling from Arizona to do dress shopping with family in Michigan. She explained to me that she does a lot of alterations but carries several wedding dresses in her shop. I explained that I will not be getting my dress altered there, I will just be looking to buy a dress. She said she understood. We go in to the appointment and she talked for 25-30 minutes all about herself. On and on about how shes a designer and about all of her other customers. Even had me get on my phone to look up wedding dresses I could buy online and have her alter. I just wanted to buy a dress. I live in Phoenix.. why on earth would I get it altered in Michigan? She didn't once ask me my budget, my venue, my date, NOTHING! So finally after all the jabbering about how great she is, she grabs a dress. As she is zipping it up, I tell her I like nothing about the dress. She ignores me and then tells me "now this is $3,000" She has me go show my family where I again say I don't like the dress. My family and maid of honor can tell I am mad so my maid of honor confronts Denise and tells her that I am not looking to design a dress here, I just want to try dresses on to get a feel for what I like. Denise responds with "yes that is what I am doing." Then went and grabbed three HIDEOUS dresses. I tell her I hate satin.. all 3 dresses were satin. She looked at me as if I was inconveniencing her. I finally say straight out "i am not getting my dress altered with you, I just wanted to try some on." Her response was "well don't you want all my wisdom?" No, thanks. She was a waste of time. I got 2 friends and 3 family members together from all over the state and this was my one of two appointments. A complete waste of time. I made it clear to her before the appointment and at the appointment that I would not be getting my dress designed or altered with her. She obviously listened to nothing that I said. She also had maybe 20 wedding dresses in her shop. Don't make the same mistake I did. read more
